Wulf Vengis
I saw all the posts over the years dedicated to users most recent purchase decisions and I couldn't help but notice that they were adding a lot of clutter to the forums. This got me to thinking; why not add a single post section for our recent purchases, perhaps pin it up at the top and let everyone see what were buying. This section could be used to discuss everything from the addition of a new model to our personal collections to the lack of bitz or bases in the boxes and blisters. In all fairness I figurred I'd start us off since I just broke my own personal vow and bought the Wolf Guard with Lightning Claws from GWs website. Now about that vow; I had sworn to myself that I would not buy, build, or paint a single model until our new Codex released. But when I saw this model I knew I had to have it. It just called to me, and I had to buy it. Yes I am going to build it, and yes I will paint it. Max_Dammit
Longfangs have the old metal weapons and one of each, Dev boxes got plastic weapons and more of them (2 of each?) only thing you miss out on is the SW sprue. I think it's two of each barring missile launcher and multi-melta, I think it's two of everything else but don't quoteme on it. With regards to my recent purchases they include a Land Raider (For my pledge) a devastator box (also for the pledge) and an addtional marine with multi-melta from the second hand cabinet (yay for working for an independent stockist!) Toasterfree
yes, dev squad box is two each, EXCEPT multi and missile. totally a great deal, but i think i like the metal guys a little better. they seemed easier to put together, but the plastic guys already have the bores drilled out. I too seemed to have great problems assembling my Devastators and am glad I'm not alone, which means I won't be buying another box for anti-infantry duty because I can't be bothered. Toasterfree
why buy another box? you can make off of the weapons if you have the bases and legs. i have a total of 9 HWs. two las, two missile (one came out of a tac box) two plas two HBs and a multi. i dont NEED another box unless i want to be able to do 4 LF units. I would want four heavy bolters, and I managed to butcher both Heavy bolters from the devvie box, to bitsbox it is! Except they really are the most annoyying plastics I've come accross. I can attest that the 4 HB pack works wonders against lightly armored armies. One of the few ways I actually like LF's lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176294-recent-purchases/#findComment-2087387 Share on other sites
Toasterfree
i personally like mine with a flex ability. i run mine 2 las 1 mis and 1 HB. but i have enough weapons to do 2plas 2hb and 2las 2mis if i wanted to. i just like being able to take out troops and tanks with the same unit. in large point games i will use them to plug transports and then the troops out of them. Except, by the rules, you cant shoot the unit inside a transport with the same one that blew the transport. Split fire doesn't get you around that rule, as it's still technically the same unit of marines firing at the same target. I know it can be argued differently, but it is something that i would discuss with any opponent before trying, as RAW from the rulebook, you cant. If you ran the LF packs as 1 being anti infantry and another pack being anti tank, you could then do that. Have the tank hunters take out a couple of transports, and use a 4 PC pack to mop up whats inside either transport.
