Dark Angel

As the title says I have decided to have a go at something other than a blue marine.

I found an old conversion I'd done with the body, decided I didn't like it and thought I'd try something new. Not sure what he'll be, captain or just a sergeant but it's done more as a change of pace.

Still have a bit of tidying up to do before painting but thought I'd put it up for comments and suggestions, also toying with the idea of a back banner as well but not really sure on that. The bolt pistol will be interchangeable with a plasma pistol.

Looks great, but it could really use something on top of the helmet like a crest or wings.

But the whole helmet is wings! I have to agree though, the top of the helmet is a tiny bit plain. Really, really, really awesome GS work.

I'll accept the helmet for a sergeant or other veteran and think that the backpack will help.

Not sure as it's unpainted but I think this visor might turn out to be a little too narrow, like he'll have no eyes unless you do a lot with the colors.

how did you do the helmet eagle, can you post instructions

I made the helmet in three main steps, should have thought to take pictures but got carried away.

First thing is to trim down the original helmet, cut/file off the pipes and boxy bits they come from and then trim down the front of the helmet around the grille.

Use some green stuff to get the basic wing shape and rebuild the front of the helmet below the visor then leave to set. I also carved in some lines just to get an idea of where the 'feathers' would be.

Once that's dry come back to it and working from top to bottom use small rolls of green stuff for each feather, slope it into the face at the bottom and square off the top, as you sculpt each feather will then cover the bottom of the one above where it meets the helmet. Allow to set.

Repeat the above with shorter rolls of green stuff for the top layer of feathers and another long roll to add the trim around the top.

I'll try and get some pictures if I do another.

And yes that is a space wolf arm, I was running out of power swords so had to make do.

Not sure what to add to the top of the helmet, I think more wings would be over the top but a crest might make it look a bit too Ultramarine.

Open to suggestions with this one.

if the wings are white/silver/gold and the armor is deepest green, i think you could work with just say, a row of 3 small studs along the top band. a hood would be too much with the wings i think, although hoods are also chill. Maybe Laurels? but i prefer those on BAs...

I like it, all cept for the Dress. But.. oh wait he's a Dark Angel, they're all dress wearing pansies. *Hides form the Dark Angels*

Okay now that griping has been done with, In all honesty, I like the model, nice conversion, nice helm etc. Except for the hair at the top. It seems.. somehow out of place on the model. He's not a closet Space Wolf is he?
