Spartans
Can PAGKs take a Land Raider as a Transport? So in theory you could fill the 3 Heavy slots and then take a 4th Land raider as a transport the PAGK unit? JamesI
No. Grey Knights in Power Armor have no dedicated transport options. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2086104 Share on other sites
boreas
No, The GKLR is Heavy-slot only. You could have an =I=-lord in a dedicated LR, 3 elite =I= in dedicated LRs and 3 Heavy slot GKLR, though... 7 LR, plus the Inquisitors and retinues, plus a GK hero plus 2 troops come in expensive! Gentlemanloser
I make the cheapest possible 7LR list to be 1,784 points! ;) That's correct isn't it? Spartans
Where does it say in the codex that elite inquisitors can take LR I am lookin but cant see it? Justicar Valius
it says in the same place as it says for inquisitor lords. The inquisitor entry says it can take a retinue as a inquisitor lord but with 0-6 guys rather than 3-12  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2086167 Share on other sites
boreas
And that usually brings about endless debates about a "0" strong retinue allowing the transport to be taken! number6
And that usually brings about endless debates about a "0" strong retinue allowing the transport to be taken! I hope you're kidding. Even I haven't heard that one! If you have 0 models in your retinue, do you even have a retinue? 0 is generally accepted to mean "nothing", "non-existent", and the like. If an Inquisitor requires a retinue to take a land raider -- and the rules say he does -- then I don't think 0 people qualify. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2086208 Share on other sites

Gentlemanloser
Ah yeah. Forgot even the Elite Inquisitors needed a Retinue. In that case the overall cost increases by 18 to 1,802 (if you don't subscribe to the Retinue of size Zero! :P). With room for a few more Troops choices for 2K games. :P Edit: Nuts it! Elite Inqs don't need 3.... Changed points...) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2086536 Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
Actually, the cheapest legal DH army list that includes 7 Land Raiders is 2053pts. I covered this in the folloing thread on LR Spamming: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=172388 Here is my updated post from that thread covering each amry I have a codex for: Well, I found the 20 HQ statement above to be a bit misleading, so I did some quick force builds to see which armies could do LR spam the best. The only codex I'm missing is Dark Angels, so please forgive me: Space Wolves can have total of 8 Land Raiders due to their ability have up to 20 Wolf Guard which can be fielded as retinues to HQ IC's at a minimum of 4 Wolf Guard Bodyguards to a retinue, and only Wolf Guard Bodyguards may purchase Land Raiders as dedicated transports. And with their HQ requirements of 1 per 750pts, this means that Space Wolves max out on LR's at 3750pts with 5 HQ's and 3 Heavies at a cost of 468pts per Land Raider. Codex Space Marines have access to the cheapest LR's in the game, the Redeemer, and they can top out at 5 Redeemers at 1850pts with 2 Elites and 3 Heavies. Not bad, and at only 370pts per Land Raider. Blood Angels have the cheapest Crusaders in the game at 250pts each with all the trimmings; however, they can only have 3 LR's as they may only take them as Heavies. They max out their LR's on a minimal list of 1080pts for 360pts per Land Raider. Black Templers are the kings of Crusader spam; too bad their Crusaders cost 265pts. They can have 14 LR's on a singel FOC at a minimum army total of 4713pts and 337pts per Land Raider. Not too many people think of Witch Hunter when they think of Land Raiders, yet they too can have up tp 4 in their army: 1 HQ and 3 Elites. The minimal list needed to field all 4 tops out at 1241pts and 310pts per Land Raider. An army I forgot and now just added is the Chaos Space Marines, who at 1830pts can field 6 LR's at 220pts a piece (3 Elite, 3 Heavy), which comes out to 305pts per Land Raider. At 2053pts, a minimal list of Daemonhunters that can field all 7 of their LR's (1 HQ, 3 Elite, 3 Heavy) will cost them 293pts per Land Raider. As such, I'd say that Daemonhunters can field the most LR's for the least amout of points for an overall win of "Who does Land Raider Spam the Best." Gentlemanloser
Where did I go wrong in points? HQ: GKBC HQ: Inq Lord, 3xMystics, LR Elite: Inq, 1xMystic, LR Elite: Inq, 1xMystic, LR Elite: Inq, 1xMystic, LR Troop: 5xIST Troop: 5xIST Heavy: GKLR Heavy: GKLR Heavy: GKLR Unless I miscalculated when I summed the points, that's not 2K. LoL! Just re summed them, it is 2053. Must have had an utter Fail day yesterday. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2086962 Share on other sites
gil galed
Yeh as has been said it's pretty clear you have to have a retinue, exact wording is "If an inquisitor has a retinue... they may be mounted in" Clearly I think more than one model :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176469-grey-knight-transports/#findComment-2087670 Share on other sites
