WIP - Wolfyfied AoBR Dreadnought

Hi wolf bros,

months ago I got an AoBR dread from ebay and It looked a bit meh to me, so I had the idea of inflicting some heavy fire damage to it to make it look a bit more interesting. Now I'm on holidays so I finally found time to do it! I have also wolfifyed the whole ting just a bit, I want to keep it simple, just a couple of tails, a "correction" to the skull on the left and a new central skull. The skull itself comes from the basic wolfy sprue. Also I used some Rhino parts to make something with that flat base, the dread is standing on a subterranean imperial deposit. Pics:

I wanted the dread to look like he just suffered a volley of heavy weapon fire, say assault cannon or the likes, but was still fully funtional. Ok, maybe the DCCW has some minor malfuntions ^_^

I will be painting it soon and come again with new pics, please feel free to make suggestions (it's still a WIP) and comments!

Well first of all you have to actually make the holes on the model. Then you cover it with a layer of green stuff, let it harden for 1-2 hours, then cut an X more or less above the hole, and use something to crack the X from behind (that's why you need to make the holes first!). I cut the shape of the hole without retrieving the small stick I used to crack the green stuff. Then some additional cuts here and there to make it look more "natural", and hold the green stuff for a while in the position you want it to stay (the X tens to close if you don't do anything) and fill some more green stuff below it to keep the crack open if needed.

I wish I did some pics during the operation, next time I do something like this I will try to make a "how to" if you think it's interesting.

Thanks for your comments!

The green stuff layer is just over 1 mm, but I guess for a Land Raider you can't go wrong with 1.5 or even 2 mm

For the hole I just heated my modelling knife and stabbed/twisted it there until it went through hahaha... I guess a dremel would do a much better work.

Looks like it may take a couple weeks to paint it (my holidays are over) but I will post some pics on the way.

Haha yeah, I also plan on doing it on most tanks from now on... one has to try not overdoing it though, or it will look like the army has taken a beating! And Russ wouldn't like that :D

Post pictures of those rhinos if you can and tell us how it goes, I'm sure you will find your own tricks by doing it and share with us.

Hi again wolf brothers!

Still a lot of work to do but I'd like to share with you how it is going so far:

I have only used 6 colors yet but I'm starting to like the result already! The two wolf tails had been victims of my clumsy manipulation of the model and I'll glue them in place again once everything else is done. It is a pain trying to avoid them while I paint the rest :whoops:

I have to light up the whole thing and paint most details, skulls and all. Hopefully I'll post the final result at the end of this week!

Hum, "to look house" is not in my dictionary (I'm just spanish you know?) but I'm going to take that as a compliment. If it's not, get your axe ready and see you at 5 P.M. behind the Fang man ;-)

to be house is to be bad ass. and ill take you up on that fight anyway!

"To be house is to have a bad arse" - do you mean you suffer from flatulence or is your bottom evil in some way?

Tell me that you are just making this up and people don't really talk like that where you are ^_^
