The Nurgled Hippo
Hi, I havnt been on in ages so I had to make a new account - couldnt remember my old username coz im stupid so i'm not up to date on everything and this topic may already have been breached. Anyway, I was wondering if there were any special rules in the new daemon codex on using them in conjunction with an existing chaos army, as the new ''generic'' lesser daemons etc. really get on my nerves, and it would be really good if they had rules on using them as allies like witch hunters do in their codex. Anyway if anyone could help me it would be much appriciated :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176687-daemons-as-allies/ Share on other sites
Devil Dog
Sorry mate, no such luck. It would make sense but then GW wouldn't be GW if stuff made sense! Draeden
If your opponent is a good sport and you're in a friendly game, look at page 87 of the Rule Book, concerning Multiple Detachment Games. Your opponent might allow you to dual field an army. Of CSM and Daemons... maybe even Traitor Guard and Daemons... the jeske
and considering how csm icons work with codex demons everyone is going to say no to you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176687-daemons-as-allies/#findComment-2088873 Share on other sites
Draeden
I wouldn't outright say no to it. Remember the assault on the deepstrike is an aspect of Generic Daemons, not Codex Daemons. And so unless you're aiming to safely deepstrike an army of horrors, first turn wont mean much in regards to daemonic assault. JamesI
I've played against the 2 FOC chaos marine/Chaos demon team. As long as they can't use each other's icons (and its a big enough game to warrent 2 FOC), its not overpowered. The Nurgled Hippo
Shame, I was really looking forward to the daemons codex for that... And it would make sense as they would make a profit from existing chaos players as they would all go out and buy the new codex and models etc. But anyway thanks for the help guys I appriciate it :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176687-daemons-as-allies/#findComment-2089712 Share on other sites
Vlâdvar The Destroyer
Personally i think Daemons are pretty decent with out needing to ally with Chaos Marines & having all your minis deep striking in can be very interesting. Also the only games you can you can ally with Chaos Marines either Apocolypse or in doubles tournies. Lastly in Planet Strike games, Daemons are very nasty at attacking, as they all come with the deep strike rule anyways, means they can assualt on the turn they arrive :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176687-daemons-as-allies/#findComment-2095922 Share on other sites
Draeden
I was rereading the rules of Chaos Marine Icons and it actually says specifically. They only act as teleport homers to models in Terminator Armour, Obliterators or Lesser Daemons. I'd take this raw meaning that it doesn't affect Chaos Daemons, as Lesser Daemons is a unit type in the CSM codex. Now as the Codex Chaos Daemons Codex states for its Chaos Icons, "When a friendly unit deep strikes..." which my understanding means that it acts for a teleport homer for just about anything and its uncle.
