After a lot of fence-sitting, mind-changing and good ol' fashioned procrastinating, I have finally selected a chapter to work on, and started my WIP thread here. I'm going to work on the Aurora Chapter. Yes, I know, you're saying " Proteus, I thought you were doing the Raven Guard?" Well, yes, I was. And then a bottle of Simple Green came along. So, I'm just starting with a 1000 point army, and I'll expand and update periodically from there. C+C, suggestions, complaints, bolt shells and harsh language welcome! A good looking captain so far, i'm probably going to steal the idea for a purple cloak, it goes very nicely with the green armor. Just get used to people telling you that they look like salamanders... it gets annoying. What company are you doing? I was going for the 7th, with a few additions from the 1st. Purple would work well with the green, but I picked blue, due to having Mordian Blue to hand, and I prefer using foundations for capes. I figured I would try the 4th Co. And I'm ready for the Sally criticism too. I think I'll have enough of a 'roman' look to dissuade any rumors. Mebrind Posted August 30, 2009 Share Posted August 30, 2009 Don't you just love the way when someone posts their semi-obscure chapter WIP/finished work, everyone else who plays the same chapter jumps at the thread and is all like "ZOMG my chapter!!!!!!", like some sort of weird family reunion -_- :P Nice work, I'm rather Impressed, can't wait to see some more. And yeah, the Salamanders thing happens rather often, but it's just kinda water of a duck's back to me at this stage. Keep up the good work man. Nice command like pose you have. honersstodnt, checked your link out and some nice models! Was wondering how or where you got the white decals from... or are they freehand? really good if they are! And yea, its awesome to see that i'm not alone out there with the Aurora Chapter. I've never seen another one IRL... I didn't think anyone else played them. I've got my scouts DONE finally, and some changes to my captain, and work on my Predator has started. I've been ridiculously busy between a new job, and extra responsibilities at home, and painting has been slooooooow. It looks like it has 3 different 'green' panels (like an old car with replacement bits from other models). I painted a few of these guys up myself as a small project, and they are fun to paint!! Yeah, the predator is in three shades of green. First I was just taking my DA predator and throwing snot green right over, but it was streaky, so I tried a foundation color, and accidentally got the wrong green, but it works better for the brighter green (Knarloc Green, not Orkhide Shade.) I was trying to follow the salamanders painting guide on the GW website, and just got the wrong green, but it works! And yes, I know the scouts have the look of characters from curious george. After a brief foray into a DIY chapter, I settled on something that was like Ultras, but not actually Ultras... hence, the AC. I was choosing from IF (they use heavy mechanised squads as i see it) and DA (they have really nice colours). But i really like predators, got SM codex and found out that Aurora is fond of predators and LR and their chapter colour is mainly green. I've got only one tactical squad right now and i'm going to buy some paints as a gift for myself for New Year. Can you help, what colours i have to use to make a squad of Aurora Chapter marines. P.s. my surname is Metelskiy, which means "have relation to winter storm" in Russian. I think that northern theme is great for me as Aurora is polar shine and strongly related to north too. I hate being constrained to taking a bunch of tanks, and armor tactics arent my thing. But the paints I can help with. For green, prime your models, black or white, doesnt matter. Then use Knarloc Green for the foundation color, and put Snot green over that. Use green wash if you want, and highlight with scorpion green.
