Firstly, whoever paints the Rainbow Warriors has respect from me. I've always thought they were a really cool scheme, but most people usually disagree with me.

One of the things that needs work is your free hand. It looks a tad shaky and thick on some of the models, but I know how difficult free hand is. It takes LOTS of practice to master. I've been painting for eight years and I still have trouble with it.

Another thing that could use some work is making your highlights thinner. They're so stark, and I think if you thinned down the line, and maybe even added a second highlight, it would look even better.

Also, I think if you added a little static grass to the base it would look awesome.

Just my two cents.

I wasn't arond in the time of the rainbow warriors, but if I ever do some deathwatch, I'm doing a rainbow warrior, with a pouch painted like a bag of skittles sweets.

You've done some wonders to those old models, especially since the usual look is for all of them to look drunk and constapated

Well its been a while since I had any time to paint, let alone take some pictures but for half an hour this morning i was free so its update time!

On the Rainbow Warrior front I have nearly finished a unit of terminators. I just need to finish the white helmets and find a way of painting a rainbow on...

These models are from the original Space Hulk game and I have made a few conversions... I added some chain blades to make a few chainfists and gave the sergeant a large power axe to be his power weapon!

I hope to finish these today so expect updates early next week.

I really like these models, from the simple paintjob, to the old classic models. I like how you stuck to the 'standard' paint scheme of the Rainbow Warriors, and not some far fetched, brightly scary 'Rainbow Warrior' Marines.

Cheers

I figured the name and the small details (rainbow on helmet) were on the far-fetched end of things as it was without making each unit a different eye burning bright colours!

My brother had a rainbow warriors army about 20 years ago - he was heavily into Warhammer and I loved reading all of the fluff in his rulebooks. Always had a soft spot for the rainbows, if I was forced into making loyalists then they would have to be RWs. Also I think the old marines are cool, brings back a lot of memories. Only thing I would say is that I prefer the order of colours on the nose on your test model [white, then red, rather than white, then green]. Keep going with this though, and keep posting your finished minis!

I've been crazy busy this month so have only found time to paint some banners for my tactical sergeants;

I intend to have two banners in each squad, as per the old school squads.

One for the sergeant in the style of the ones above

One for the squad leader which will be straighforward standard showing sqaud designation symbol, sqaud number etc. The squad leader will lead the second combat squad when I split the units in two.
