ChainsawDR
Hi all, I'm always asking questions on here and promising to post pics afterwards but have never managed to do so, so I thought I'd do so now I've just finished my Vindicator "Russ's Fury" and I'm feeling happy about how its turned out. Been off work sick with flu for 2 days so decided to give it a paint job at last, C&C welcome... Cheers ChainsawDR Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176835-russs-fury/ Share on other sites
Typical Cricket
That's totally awesome, but shouldn't it be "Russ' Fury"? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176835-russs-fury/#findComment-2090465 Share on other sites

Wolf Guard Nostromo
Well the wait was worth it! Its always good to see a different style of Space Wolf scheme... I really like the wolf on the front with the black, red and white colour giving the design real emphasis - very cool :) I hope you are intending to use the siege shield though.. paint pots are both difficult and dangerous terrain :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176835-russs-fury/#findComment-2090473 Share on other sites
Sharpsilver
I absolutely love this tank. Good job :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176835-russs-fury/#findComment-2090475 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Good stuff... I always give my vehicles a name, it makes them survive longer and hit harder. Rumor has it that some rhinos with really really really cool names can actually transport 11 marines, but theyre as yet unconfirmed. Grey Mage
It looks like a school logo.... and theres a bulge around the paint there. Perhaps he traced it onto a peice of paper, painted the paper up, and then glued it to the mini? Thats how I would do it, just gotta get really thin paper. Yep. pretty much - traced the wolf head, cut it out and glued it to the siege shield - then painted it. tried to cover it up with extra paint at the edges but think it made it worse as the paper absorbed and expanded I think. Next time I think I'd trace, cut out the design, place it on top of some rolled out green stuff and then cut and model - I'll post when I do it and let you know how it turned out. Cheers for all the comments brothers, feeling well chuffed. One thing you might also want to try out is making your own custom transfers. BOLS has a really great tutorial on how to do this. Of course, it's meant for their own custom sheets, but there's nothing preventing you from doing your own. ;) Click here for the tutorial. Just for the record, and cheek of it :) , can you give an example of such a name which gives this 'bonus'? My favorite Whirlwind is named "FoeHammer" and normally kills about 75-95% of the orks it touches. It has been stunned, repeatedly, by tau stealth suits with fusion blasters- in one game it last five turns of sitting their being stunned after killing all but one of his *eldar* allied pathfinders. My Rhino, Niefleheim, has survived CC with genestealers for two rounds. It was however then eaten by a carnifex after it drove off to be fair. Venerable Brother Darkwomb has not been slain in four years of gaming. He has been immobilized with all weapons destroyed and a hangover, but he has not actually died. My Predator Annihilator on the other hand went unnamed for quite a while, and was eventually pulled from my list. It has now been renamed the Crinos and is starting to regain its confidence. Painted minis live longer, named vehicles are just plain better. Edit: You probly meant the one that gives a rhino the ability to transport 11 men? That was in a campaign several years back where we had every single astartes and xenos accounted for- and you had to roll to see if they recovered from their wounds to fight on. The Driver is an Astartes, and so also had to be rolled for when his vehicle was destroyed. Neifleheim was actually drive around by a wolf gaurd lovingly named George the Slayer who would occaisionally dismount to fight off gribblies that attacked his rhino with a lightningclaw and combi-flamer. Good times, good times. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/176835-russs-fury/#findComment-2091534 Share on other sites
