Blood Angel Terminator Captain

first post here on this forum, so let me say hello to everyone first and foremost =)

secondly, as the title states i am working on a Blood Angel terminator captain - I recently received a bunch of SM stuff from my older cousin, who had started collecting a Blood Angels army but never got around to finishing it... i will revamp this army with a few of my own twist, and i will also be converting/adding stuff on every marine and/or vehicle in the army (hopefully hehe), but to start off i give you a terminator captain.

there he is, ready to be primed and painted (since it's been 7-8 years, give or take, since i last fiddled around with this awesome hobby, i want to practice and brush up my painting skills before painting my more "special" models so i might take a while to complete this one)

i used Grey Stuff, bits and plasticard for the mini, cork and sand for the base

please, C&C's are very welcome! =)

Welcome to B&C and to the Chapter Brother.

Some nice, simple conversion work you have done there - I'm suitably impressed.

Can we get a close up of the right shoulder - I'd love to see what the detail is there. It kind of looks like a skull.

Anyway, a nice start there.

my camera cannot take closer pictures than this without blurring, even with the macro-flower thing turned on.

hope you can see it better now though! =)

Well, your camera can get closer than mine before it blurs!

The skull looks like youve got some good sculpting skills there. To get a real smooth finish, put some vaseline on the end of your sculpting tool. It acts as a lubricant and allows a better finish.

  • 2 weeks later...

so yeah i finished painting this bad boy of a model, and here he is.

His name is Razel, and is the terminator captain of my Blood Angels - My Blood Angels, however, will not be "regular" Blood Angels and I am in the process of writing up some background fluff for them, which I think will be done very soon... Until then, enjoy Mr. Razel:

This is my first paint job on a mini after a 7 year hiatus from the hobby - but I'm back now <_<

C&C's are very very welcome, I hope you enjoy!

Hello there Brother Duncs! thanks for the nice comment!

about the red it's as following (keep in mind that all mixes of paint and such are thinned down with a bit of water to increase smoothness of the layers) <_<

1. basecoat of snakebite leather

2. a layer of red gore (wait for it to dry and hit it up again with red gore to get a more smooth finish)

3. a mix of blood red and red gore to create the blending effect around the edges (rather thick 'highlight' if you may)

4. a 50/50 mix of blood red and blazing orange to finish up on the 'highlights' added in the previous step and voila :P

hope it helps :) gives a nice, darker and warmer red than the usual Blood Angels tend to have in my opinion
