Night Lord Dreadnought

Considering how ugly the Chaos Dreadnought is, I've been planning for quite a while to get a SM one and do..something..with it to make it more Night Lord-y. When I saw the totally awesome Ironclad Dreadnought though, I knew I just had to have that one. While I had originally planned to cover it entirely with bits and pieces of skulls and other skeleton parts, the Ironclad is just too awesome-looking for me to mess up its' clean look.

The plan I have so far is to get my hands on another Ironclad Dreadnought CCW for the left arm, add NL iconography on both arms as well as steal the "skull with wings" sarcophagus and cut and greenstuff a bit to another NL icon on the front.

This is (kinda boringly) how it looks so far, assembled with a single NL icon on one of the arms (first use ever of those nigh-useless winged NL helmets!)

My question to you is if you have additional ideas I could use on it. I like to keep my army fairly clean, but all ideas are very welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Now for the pics:

(I'll fix the rest of those pesky mouldlines and slight gaps when I get my hands on the second CCW arm)

Some more skulls and batwings placed at strategic points would be a good start. I used a couple form the Chaos Marauder sprues on my BA Ironclad. One was cut in half so I was left with the front of the skull. I glued this to the front of the left greave. It now looks like an honour badge or something.

You could also make it more Night Lord-y during the paint job. Lots of lightning would work well on something that size.

Needs more scary.

I forget what it's called, but Chaos dreads used to be able to take these flail like things. How about having them impaling a dude into the ground? (if youve seen Freddy vs Jason, the part with the rebar)

Yeah, you kinda have to look past the grey model and imagine the NL paintjob :D

I'll check out the Marauder sprue and see if I find something there. As for normal skulls and skeleton parts, I have a skeleton box ready. But a skull on one of the greaves sound plausible, thanks.

Flails isn't really my cup of tea (especially not with the CCW beeing as good-looking as it is), but I might just have him gripping and crushing some poor SM in his other hand, while focusing his flamer on another target. I think I got a pretty good picture of it in my head, let's hope I can realize it too. :)

Thanks!

As I'm not som much into the chaos-with-spiky-bits-aesthetics that usually turn nice models into silly hedgehogs, I'd be careful not to attach too many things and instead let the paintjob do most of the work. Though removing all imperial iconografy and replacing with something chaotic or legion specific is a must, but I think you have figured out that already.

I think it'll turn out great with those DCCW's, cause you aint gonna bring any crazed plasma if you side with my army in our huge battles ;) . Will be nice too soon see it painted and rampaging on the battlefield! Good luck!
