Chapter Master Tu'shan and Honour Guard

Recommended Posts

This is my take on Chapter Master Tu'shan of the Salamanders, and his honour guard.

I gave him seven honour guard - one to represent each of the sanctuary cities of Nocturne. I am working on a Land Raider Prometheus command tank for them to ride around in, but for the moment they dont have a ride.

Please remember these are still WIP, and I have more work to do on them yet.

My god, that is one big banner! I feel sorry for him on a windy day! :P

They look, great, that's some exceptional GS work. Looking forward to seeing them finished.

Suggestions: More salamander bling on the standard bearer... a bigger (40mm) base for Tu'shan.... and I'm not sure what else.

p.s. what did you make the banner out of?

Wow man! This is some truly awesome conversion work. I like how the Power Axe marine is holding it.

Hard to see some details though as the metal reflects back.. But when these are painted, they will be really really awesome!

Wow nice conversions, keep going!

My favorite one is the one with the dragon claws, he looks awesome

I think the banner will do its work with half the size or is it supposed to block the LoS to the Command-LR ;) ?

The banner bearer should get his own special rule... before the begining of each round roll a scatter dice and 1 d6 to decide the strength and direction of any cross winds. If moving against the wind suffer 1 d6 movment, if traveling with the wind add 1d6. On the roll of a hit he counts as a jump troop and can ignore terrain and uses te banner as a kite and soars accross the battle feild.

For the army who's banner has to have everyone's name on it..

Huuuuuuuuuuge banner, perhaps a little big BUT nothing spacemarine is ever conservative. Im kind of imagening a endless list of names on that banner for every marine who has done something of worth in your chapter ;). Anyway, i like it certainly makes the model stand out haha. Perhaps make the pole touch the ground (base or table) at the moment he looks like hes holding it up and even with his powerfist that would be difficult im sure.

Very cool gs work. Keep the banner how it is, its fantastic, always did think banners wernt big enough... though were all expecting some monster freehand work on it now you realise.

Believe it or not, the banner is made from a cut up and cleaned toothpaste tube. Someone on here suggested I try it, and I am pleased with the result.

Now for some updated pics. With the exception of two bases (and the banner, which I intend to work on as I paint it) the minis are complete and ready for painting.

The better angle on Tu'shan should help with the pose of the sword arm - it doesn't look as bad as that last photo made out.

Very nice might steal your ideas me thinks. :D Cant wait to see them painted. Im still wondering why there is a dark angels banner on the honor guard? (thought someone would have pointed it out by now).

your CM is posed really bad. try holding your arm and hand like that, it is very unnatural. you should either have the sword swinging(palm up, blade back) or sever the entire arm and find something with a better pose

'Ack, right in the heraldry!' came to mind the minute I saw that banner. Man; the line of sight rule is so gonna suck with that guy around... ^_^

As for the reposes and GS; great work! I like your take on Tu'shan. I did my counts as also with a sword. Hey; it's a Relic Blade after all. What will represent the Gauntlet?

Some of the poses have been filed for future reference too btw. Keep it up; looks great so far. :tu:

@ jester_prince: good thinking on the rules; me like. A nice addition to the 'picked up by the wind' rules would be for him to take a leadership test upon landing again to hold the banner aloft. If he fails, one random unit within 6 inch of his impact/landing point will be pinned for one turn, as they attempt to free themselves from under the sail banner... :D

these are insane! cant wait to see them painted!

one thing, and its only a suggestion, but on tu'shan's backpack, turn the eagle into like a salamander-esque head because your GS skills are of the chain and i think you'd pull it off :D

but thats just what i think :tu:

That banner... WOH

The guy that says repose Tu'shan is mad because he doesn't recognise its the He'Stan minature. But if he likes to saw through lots of metal fair enough.

There are some i just don't like... Really sorry but its just a personal thing. I HATE UNHELMETED MARINES

There i said it and its out of the way.

some of the stuff cant be seen due to the reflective nature of metal.

I wil enjoy looking at the finished product especially the banner.

You could go on Lexicanum's salamander page, go to the bootom, see the names of all significant marines and write them all on the banner!

And someone mentioned the making his Tu'shan with a sword too then asked about the gauntlet of the forge. I do belive He'stan has those things NOT Tu'shan

Really, really great work, I'm afraid I'm going to jump on the "shrink the banner" bus, but I'm getting kind of old and I'm stuck in my ways, so ignore me ! but I think your work here is of the highest quality, nice.
