Schertenleib
Okay, so here's the deal..... I have a RTT Tournament coming up in October. I have very few models right now and I'm just squeaking in with the 1500 pt total. I have some money coming and want to reinforce my 1500 pt unit and make it more competitive. I don't want to buy a lot of things right now because of the pending codex. What do you think is the best buy presently? Current army: 10 Greyhunters 15 Blood Claws Ragnar Blackmane Logan Grimnar Rune Priest Wolf Priest AoBR Dread Whirlwind Drop Pod Land Raider Crusader 5 Wolves 5 Power Armor Wolf Guard Should I get more Heavy Support? Fast Attack? (bikes or speeders?) Troops? TDA? Scouts? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177003-pup-looking-to-expand/ Share on other sites
Warhorse47
Gray hunters and a couple of rhinos/razorbacks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177003-pup-looking-to-expand/#findComment-2092734 Share on other sites
Jonas Stromclaw
OBEL scouts! Extemely useful in this codex and if they lose the OBEL rule in the upcoming 'dex there is always the land speeder storm. Unless they don't give us that, which would not make sense. Forseti
I'd go with Rhinos, Attack Bikes, Vindicators or Scouts. Don't go with troops since you'll kick yourself in a month for not waiting for the new box. Wolf Guard Nostromo
I'd go with Rhinos, Attack Bikes, Vindicators or Scouts. Don't go with troops since you'll kick yourself in a month for not waiting for the new box. Unless the new box is rubbish :) . I would really suggest troops - another pack of Grey Hunters, but if you want to wait for the new look, I'd go with a transport or two, a vindicator and some attack bikes with MM as these are all gonna stay and are really solid competitive choices. Kenmichi
I still like the Grey Hunter and Blood Claw packs, they come with nice bits, good torsos, decent heads. I'd still get some if I were you, and I probably am myself sometime soon. Florida Gator
you'll see on the GW site grey hunters and blood claws say they're no longer available. I guess they're clearing out for the new dex. I went to the local store a couple weeks ago, and couldn't for the life of me find grey hunters, although there was a box of blood claws left, (which I ended up walking home with). So yeah most Space wolves will be very hard to find, and you can't expect to find a box at your gw either, although it may be worth a shot if you really want BCs or GHs. Toasterfree
id say a nought or a vindie, and yes if they still have a box of old wolves, get it! there are two GH boxes at the GW store i frequent, and i may pick one up today, and ask if they can hold the other for me. they will prolly say no, and i dont know if i want 3 packs of GHs anyway. id rather 3 packs of BCs. WolfLord Digby
I never leave home without at least 1 attack bike squadron, its cheap as chips and extremely effective. Schertenleib
What makes up an Attack Bike Squadron? Three bikes and an Attack Bike? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177003-pup-looking-to-expand/#findComment-2093181 Share on other sites
Toasterfree
1-3 attack bikes with heavy weapons, otherwise is a bike squad with an attack bike. attack bikes with multis and HBs makes for nasty nasty against troops and the back armor of tanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177003-pup-looking-to-expand/#findComment-2093413 Share on other sites
WolfLord Digby
Yeah 3 Attack bikes with the same loadouts i find works best, a squadron with 3 heavy bolters makes an excellent mobile fire support squad for advancing greyhunters and bloodclaws. A squad with 3 Multimeltas can really mess up your enemies vehicles regardless of armour value. All in all i think attack bikes are severely under rated and i cant for the life of me imagine why.
