Apocalypse Lords - 5th Tactical Squad

It's been awhile since I have posted, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been busy. In fact, after pretty much assuming that I didn't need to paint anything for the upcoming BoLSCon, I later discovered that I really needed another tac squad to get my list to behave the way I wanted.

Sooooo...that led to a mad flurry of activity in the last month and not true to form for me, meant that I just finished up the squad, based and sealed around a couple of hours before we were ready to head out.

Alls well that ends well, though and I learned once again to never say never.

The list I ended up taking had 5 tactical squads in drop pods, 3 dreads in drop pods, 4 terminator squads, and a librarian in termie armor. Nothing too fancy, but truly it was a righteous and brutal instrument of the Emperor's wrath.

So here are a few of the standout poses from the squad. I truly apologize for the quality of the photos as there is something going on with our camera. Sometimes it works Ok, sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, I think you'll get the idea.

Melta gunner with honors (this guy did quite well in our first game by immobilizing an Eldar Scorpion super heavy tank and destroying a Basilisk in the second)

This is my returned Death Watch veteran. He plays as a regular trooper, but cooler ;)

I've also started adding some Gale Force 9 and other historical basing materials to give the army a different, but similar urban look

This guys is wielding an ancient blade (samurai sword) recovered during an earlier operation. It is used as a CCW, but was added to add some character to the squad

Our team (Good - Macharian Crusade) acquitted ourselves with honor and defeated Eldar, Daemons, and Orks. A radical Inquisitor and his unholy alliance of daemons, traitor guard, and Dark Mechanicus (also daemons) being the only stain upon our campaign, though we fought with honor. Retribution is in the offing.

Anyway, we had a lot of fun and the Apocalypse Lords fought well.

Cheers,

are those weapon sights based on EOTech 557 tactical holo sight?

You have me at a disadvantage sir! If EoTech 557 refers to IG Cadian heavy weapon sights, then you would be correct. :D

where did you get the Katana (Samurai Sword) to?

Alas, I don't think you'll be impressed. The arm comes from the Company Command box (standard bearer) and the rest is carved from those little square bits with jaws that act as a twist tie on packages of bread.

Thanx!

This had me lol'ing ;) I love it.

Great stuff, nicely painted and I still love your scheme. I think your "vet sarge in a completely different colour and colour scheme" idea rocks booties, and you've chosen well with the bases and the little characterful touches scattered throughout the squad. No criticisms, lovely marines all round.
