Termicide

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with running a termicide group or terminators in general.

I'm wondering to include some in my army, but it is very doubtful that they will be running in a land raider.

Heavy Flamer + Chain Fist/ Combi-Melta's look nice, but unsure if the points could be better spent i.e another DP

I ran a 10-man squad with RAC, HF, 4 combi-flamers and 4 combi-meltas. They deepstruck next to a super heavy flanking my lines and obliterated it with combi-meltas.

I run a lot of upgrades but I'm ok with that. The 10 termies when broken into their respective squads (AT and AI) come in at a little over 400 points but they've done their job so far.

I have also used the same squad with the combi-flamers up front against orks. My lash sorceror pulled a huge squad of ork boys into a tight group and I literally burned the entire squad with 3-4 templates.

I never leave home without my termies because they are both my best CC unit and provide the only anti-tank and massed anti-infantry firepower of my army aside from my havocs and now my predator. The fact I love the models and want to field 30 of them also helps a bit.

So far I have yet to fight LR's, MC (other than C'Tan), and PA squads with them.

I prefer a large squad of Terminators compared to Termicide. Just seems like a waste of points when I could do the same with a lesser unit like Raptors or plain ole Khorne Berserkers. Then again, I play more fluffy then competitive, and I don't see any Legion or Warband in their right mind wasting Terminators.

only a unit of raptors is 5 man and costs more then 3 termis with 3 combi melta and it can be countered on its way to its target[sometimes it may be hard to get a 6"shot turn 2 or even 3] , when its cheap [so 5 man] there is always the danger that when it gets shot up a melta will die . also no matter what after it gets in to range and shots something it will die just like the termis . a termi unit cant be countered , unless someone plays mystics . is cheaper and can have more weapons.

2x3 or 2x4 termis is used depending on how many points are played.

as the points go . yes termis are a support unit . when you build a list you cant [well actually you can , but you will end up with a bad list thats all] go let me take a 600 termi unit of doom and play with 2x5 man csm as scoring units. you first take 2/3 troops , then you check if you want a more hth or more short range army . then you take oblits [if you play a hth list defilers may be an option too , what doesnt mean oblits are bad or worse choice for a hth army] , then you take DPs one or two depending how many points are played or if you want to trade a unit from the support section or the troops section . If you trade troop choice then your probablly playing 1k pts and you know have a "fire" army [lots of kill and only two scoring units changes each game in to a phase out one . you have to kill the opponents army to win and its sometimes hard to win high]. then after all that is done you check how many termicid fit in to the list. chaos termiators are not a hth unit [too small unit] , they are not scoring so cant be objective holders , but they are a good anti tank/transporte meta and good unit that supports oblits [and lash if you play it].
