Kronk
I like it. The shading on the tabbard is just fine. The lining is good, and I like the highlighting on the black armor. I think the red glowy eyes are a bit much, though. Brother Mord
I agree Beautiful model except for the extra glow on the eyes. The extra red used to show the glowing eyes looks doesnt come off well for some reason. Liath
Maybe what "doesn't come off well" with the glow on the eyes is that it can't glow on the part of the helmet above the eye. Also it has to glow a bit less in my opinion. Good paint scheme otherwise, I like it. drbro1228
I get what you guys mean. The look i was trying to go for was the glowing eye's like in brother mord's and Kronk's sig. maybe i'll try toning the eye's down a bit. Anyone have some advive for paining eyes? verpine
The glowy eyes do not look right because the glow should mostly be on the bottom, with a tiny bit (if any) on the top. Right now it's almost as if he has some bushy red eyebrows. Besides that, you've got the model down. Awesome highlights. edit: aaaaaand drill out the gun barrel ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177347-black-templar-paint-scheme/#findComment-2097518 Share on other sites
Godfrey
I think the model looks great. Make some changes to the eyes, and drill that gun barrel out! Keep us posted with pics! drbro1228
I'll make the changes for him tommorrow and post up more pics. Once my reaper triads get here i'll begin painting the rest of my army and make a larger thread for it. this was just a test model verpine- the bushy ebrows comment made me laugh. thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177347-black-templar-paint-scheme/#findComment-2097650 Share on other sites
Eisenhardt
Very good paint scheme, i like the combination of black and gold. it is not too much gold, just the right balance. but as the other said before, the eyes glow too much. Drudge Dreadnought
Your highlights on the edges of the armor are excellent. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177347-black-templar-paint-scheme/#findComment-2097706 Share on other sites
drbro1228
thanks everyone for the compliments. i have one more question for everyone; should i change the base? right now you cant see it, but the base is painted to be tan marble and i was wondering if i should change the base rim color? Kronk
By base rim, are you talking about the round, plastic part? Yeah, I like the outer edge of my bases painted black. The tan-marble looks fine to me, from what little I can see. lotsa_terminators
good looking Templar, but I have to jump on the "to much glow" bandwagon. I find that by using a fine detail brush and going around the rim of the lens very softly with a bright color, say blood red/fiery orange for you, works pretty well. Your glow is a tad bit to thick. The paint scheme is good, I always enjoy seeing more gold/brass/bronze on Templar. Also, I think it's funny how 5 of the guys who completed this years Painting Crusade have posted ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177347-black-templar-paint-scheme/#findComment-2099176 Share on other sites
