Skirax
I've missed a lot. This is great! Though I will agree with keeper on the second story due to the fact that it seemed very strange that you fight through a load of chaos and not take any, any casualties. Also, I think you can detail more of the combat, because all you do is the 'cutting through them'. Maybe detail a part where, for example, a cultist lunges at Simoleo and then he plunges his sword up to the hilt in his stomach? Stuff like that. Simoleo-Brother marine
Thanks for all the feedback guys, its always nice to read ^_^ Anyways: The fist closed towards Simoleo’s face, who tried to raise a hand to defend himself. The champion stamped on his hand, pinning him down. As the fist came within inches of Simoleo, a double tap of fire caught the champion in the chest. He was knocked backwards as a man leapt over Simoleo, a power knife in hand. He slit the throat of the reeling champion, and kicked his legs from beneath him as he fell. The man turned to face Simoleo, who caught a first look at him. He had short black hair and dark eyebrows to match. He bore several facial scars, and had thick muscular arms, revealed by his cut off jacket. His uniform was desert camouflage, with black leather boots, scuffed and worn with use. He bore his power knife in one hand, and a las pistol in the other. He carried a lasrifle on his back and various grenades and other gear on his belt. As Simoleo stood up once more, the man moved again, striking out at those around him. His blade met cultist flesh again and again, sending blood splattering outwards in many locations. Simoleo joined the mysterious warrior, slaying the slaves to Chaos with him. More of the strangely uniformed men opened fire from hidden locations, as Simoleo could see thanks to his advanced vision. The Imperium’s warriors eventually beat back the attackers, but at a great cost. “We lost some good marines in that battle sir. And many more of our men are currently out of action due to injuries,” reported Martinius at a quickly set up camp in the desert. Simoleo and his command squad were gathered there, along with all the Veteran sergeants and the mysterious desert warrior, who had turned out to be called Veteran Sergeant John "Keeper" Daly of the ‘Sidewinders’. He led a veteran squad that excelled in urban warfare, both in and out the desert area, and was also in charge of other infantry squads, trained specially in urban warfare by him and his squad. They had originally been doing training exercises in the desert when the invasion began, and had been unable to rally with any other units. They had had transport, and had followed the remaining Dark Angels to a location they knew, and set up a basic camp there. The marines needed to time to regroup and reorganise, whilst the guardsmen needed to prepare themselves. “My squads are at your full disposal honoured marine,” said Sergeant Keeper. “They will follow whatever orders you give. We have several Russes, as well as enough transport for all and several artillery batteries.” Simoleo nodded his thanks, before turning to his Techmarine, Firenze. “The Rhino’s took a serious hit in the attack sir,” he began. “We now lack enough transport for the whole company, and that’s before we add in the injured. It’s going to take several days before we can be fully mechanized again.” Simoleo nodded gravely, not great news, but they would adapt. They had a job to do, after all. Simoleo took a walk, taking in the desert scenery before him. The landscape was fascinating, despite its bleakness. He knew that his company’s plans were delayed for at least two days, possibly more. This was terrible, and he needed to react. He had run many ideas through his head, including the possibility of attempting to take their next location with just assault marines. With no word from the ‘Calibanite Lion’ and things as bad as they were on the ground, Simoleo took refuge in prayer. It was all he had right now. C+C as always This episodes game is notice the new B+C members who've become characters ^_^ And, as requested by KEEPER, I present to you, Third Company Master Simoleo of the Dark Angels: http://i34.tinypic.com/ra8bop.jpg I'm not much of a photographer, but I tried my best. Simoleo-Brother marine
Evening all, it's been far too long hasn't it. Down with exams :P Here we go: The night came and went over Andreus Prime, and during that whole time, Simoleo sat deep in meditation. Snakes slid around him, sand blew across his armour, the moonlight lit up his armour, and yet he remained motionless. This was a tough scrape, and Simoleo needed to think deeply if he was to lead his men to victory. As guard duties changed and marines sat talking, cleaning weaponry and making makeshift repairs to weaponry and vehicles alike, Simoleo re-entered the camp. As he walked in, chatter and noise began to die and by the time he’d reached the centre, all was quiet. Simoleo looked around him at the marines and guardsmen before him, all-looking for guidance and a way forward. “Brothers!” began the Company Master, his voice reaching across the camp. “Our vehicles lay damaged, many men lay dead within the earth, and our battle barge gives no word. So, do we give up? Do we stop fighting? NO! How do I know the Emperor wants his servants to keep going? I’ll tell you how I know. We are not dead… WE ARE STILL HERE! Upon this planet, we will do his work! All marines and guardsmen make ready your weapons, we brief in ten.” With this yells and battle cries rose up, and all those gathered followed Simoleo’s orders. “Even as we speak, Firenze is continually trying to gain connection with ‘Calibanite Lion’,” said Martinius to Simoleo as they sat around a table with the company sergeants. Simoleo nodded his head before turning to ‘Keeper’. “My men have managed to gain links with other surviving units and we are moving to unite with them as we speak,” he said to the assembled warriors. Simoleo nodded again before speaking. “You and I shall go to meet them Sergeant Daly. I wish to be there just in case something goes wrong.” “Very well sir. Private Bott has just voxed in and informed my men he is nearly back,” replied the Sergeant. Simoleo then rose and walked with the sergeant towards the rendezvous with Private Bott and the additional support. As Simoleo and Daly rose over the lip of the dune, they spotted Bott below. He stood in front of several guard issue vehicles and walked slowly forwards towards the two warriors. Simoleo wondered why they weren’t following in the vehicles, but assumed the men to be to in awe of a marine. Bott looked up and screamed, “It’s a trap sir!” Simoleo’s hand instantly went to his storm bolter as bolter fire downed Bott from behind. Simoleo watched as out of the vehicles stepped many Chaos Marines. Ambush… C+C as always :P -Simoleo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177427-the-andreus-campaign/page/2/#findComment-2210412 Share on other sites
KEEPER
I like the deception, but I think the Marines would have had some LP/OP's (listening/observation posts) out. Possibly noticing something is out of the norm with the incoming guardsmen, but not sure what. If I may make a suggestion. Trying using Sgt Daly's nickname less. Maybe use it if you have two Guardsmen interacting, or being overheard. Soething of a whispered nickname that he knows about, and doesn't get upset hearing. I've had a few Sergeants that as myself and other Marines bonded with they picked up nick names. It's a sign of respect, and trusting. Simoleo-Brother marine
You called, and I answered :P Simoleo grabbed Daly and threw him to the ground with his left arm, whilst systematically opening fire down the dune with his storm bolter. Bolter rounds landed in the sand inches from Daly’s face as he scrambled for his rifle off his back. Simoleo through a frag grenade into the dirt, it exploded in a cloud of sand and dust. “Go! Get support!” roared Simoleo from the cover of the explosion. “I’ll hold them back!” Daly’s sense of pride made him want to stay, but he knew it was the best tactical decision, turning back towards the camp. As he heard a bolter round bounce off Simoleo’s power armour, his pace quickened and he ran as fast as he could. As the twenty-seven Chaos Marines slowly advanced towards Simoleo’s position, he opened fire desperately in return. He had taken out three of the Chaos soldiers, but only had a single clip of storm bolter ammo left. As he loaded this into his storm bolter, a shot clipped his shoulder and he fell back into the soft sand. Daly ran into the camp, and heads turned as he collapsed panting in the sand. Veteran Sergeant Skirax knelt beside Daly and asked, “What happened?” “Ambush! Get to the dune now!” was all Daly could pant out before collapsing from exhaustion. He had put so much energy into getting back; he had made himself gravely ill. “Brothers! To arms!” roared Skirax. “Vets with me! Icarus take your men ahead! We will not let our Company Master fall! With roars and battle cries, the selected squads made their way out to the dune. The Chaos Marines were near enough to Simoleo now that he could make out some of the heretical inscriptions upon their armour. Simoleo’s armour was dented in countless places, and his arm was bleeding quite badly. With no storm bolter ammo left, Simoleo was firing desperately with his plasma pistol, and even then it was a race against time. He knew it would overheat sooner or later and then it was time to draw his swords. As another Chaos Marine exploded in fire, electricity crackled from Simoleo’s pistol. He threw it away before it exploded, making sure he wasn’t injured by the blast. Simoleo knew it was now or never. Drawing his two swords from their back scabbards, Simoleo stood to face his enemy. “REPENT! FOR TOMORROW YOU DIE!” he screamed, running at the Emperor’s enemies. Strike. Stab. Duck. Spin. Like a machine, Simoleo fought the Chaos Marines. Many of the marines couldn’t even draw their weapons in time, although others ducked and tried striking out with limbs. A combat knife worked its way into the back of his leg armour. A bolt pistol round struck his injured arm. His left power sword clattered to the ground as an armoured fist struck Simoleo’s chest, forcing him to collapse back, his injured leg unable to support his weight. His helmet cracked as he fell back onto a rock. A foot planted itself firmly on Simoleo’s chest plate and a bolter was levelled at his head. Simoleo’s vision blurred and a groan went through his body. His helmet was kicked off, although he couldn’t see whom by. As the gun was levelled before him again, a shot rang out. Sand covered Simoleo. And then the fiery angels descended from the Heavens. Assault Sergeant Icarus led his squad from the skies, power axe in hand. He sent a head rolling before his feet touched the ground, and fired off a plasma pistol shot soon after. A combat blade swung at him, which Icarus blocked easily with his combat shield before following through with another swing of his axe. Around him, chainswords sliced through armour as the enemies of the Emperor fell. Meanwhile Skirax led his veterans forward to engage from a ground level. He swung his power fist down, crushing a Chaos Marine’s helmet. As his Veteran Squad charged in, using the variety of weapons gifted to them to mop up what the assault squad had left behind. Skirax heard a groan, and saw his beloved Master lying on the ground, covered in grey dust. Simoleo awoke, and he knew he hadn’t joined the Lion yet. How? His whole body was in agony. He could feel his system attempting to clot his wounds, but Simoleo didn’t know how effective it would be. From nowhere, a hand grabbed his backpack and he felt himself being dragged back across the sand, leaving a trail of blood behind him. A bolt pistol was thrust into his hand and a voice in his ear said “cover us from what’s left of them.” Simoleo groaned an affirmative response, raising the pistol feebly and picking out the black targets amongst the green. He then noticed: there weren’t any. Skirax looked up as he heard several explosions, and saw that the assault marines had made short work of the vehicles the Chaos Marines had used as transport. Although they may have been useful to the Dark Angels, they couldn’t risk any taint. Simoleo then felt many hands around him, and felt himself being held upwards. As one, the Veteran Squad carried their Company Master off. Three days later, Simoleo awoke. From the vibrations below him, he guessed his Land Raider was on the move. “You’re awake then,” said Martinius. “First day was touch and go, but you pulled through. The Lion watches over you.” “Where are we now?” Simoleo asked. “Were on our way to the Capital. Were gonna take her back and end this war.” A long'un, but hopefully a good 'un ;) C+C :) -Simoleo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177427-the-andreus-campaign/page/2/#findComment-2236968 Share on other sites

Simoleo-Brother marine
Here is an update :) Simoleo’s original assessment of the city’s defences made him doubt the chances of a successful assault for just a second. Rockcrete walls, large amounts of defence lasers, missile silos-this place was very well guarded. Sliding down the dune he had used to observe, Simoleo landed gracefully on the ground. He turned to his assembled company, assessing each squad’s abilities quickly in his mind. Then, a plan formulated. The Devastators of the Dark Angel’s Third were keeping low, just beyond the rim of a large dune. Their job was simple: Take out as much of the defences as they could and give the other squads cover fire. Lascannons and Plasma Cannons hummed, the clunk of Heavy Bolter Ammo falling into place was heard and the click of Rocket Launchers being primed was clear upon the dune. Upon the signal, they would rise up, and unleash hell upon the enemy, in the form of las, plasma, and bolter. Assault Squad ‘Icarus’ stood ready to attack, Squad ‘Cupid’ standing further along. ‘Icarus’ was held break the defences, charging forward and planting meltabombs upon the defensive wall and turrets, damaging them enough to allow the Dark Angels to advance within. ‘Cupid’ were taking the fight straight to the enemy, landing within the city and carving up anything that got in their way with chainsword and power fist. Chainswords revved as owners gave them final checks before the slaughter, and meltabombs charges were checked. The fight was about to begin. Simoleo stood at the front of his company and the remaining Guardsmen, Sergeant Daly by his side. The remaining vehicles would provide cover fire when the time came, but Simoleo wanted an infantry assault to flood the city. It was all on him now, all on his count. Simoleo nodded to Daly, who roared to his men “Come on you sons of bitchs, do you wanna live forever!?" to which his men roared in response “HOORAH!” Simoleo smiled to himself, the Guardsmen’s pride filling his soul as much as he was sure it filled theirs. “Repent! For tomorrow you die!” roared Simoleo, to which his company replied his personal battle cry “To know the light, you must see the dark!” With cries and roars, Simoleo fired his bolter, and was the first over the dune, over the top, and now he made his charge. For the Lion. I may follow a similar squad based paragraphs idea in the following chapters for war. A big shout out to KEEPER who got the quote he wanted in there ;) C+C as always folks :) -Simoleo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177427-the-andreus-campaign/page/2/#findComment-2247843 Share on other sites

Simoleo-Brother marine
Brothers, it has been long since I last graced this thread with a post. But now that the torture known as GCSE's is nigh upon completion, I offer you the next stage in this tale. For the Lion. Icarus heard the crack of Simoleo’s bolter and dived down, his squad in tow. With a manoeuvre practiced and performed countless times, Icarus and his men landed softly upon the wall, placed down their explosives, and propelled away again, all within two seconds. Timers set, the explosions would signal phase two of the attack. In the air, Icarus heard the explosion of the bombs, the crack of the fortifications breaking, the crashing to the ground, and the silence that followed. The all hell broke lose. As the wall began to fall, Squad ‘Cupid’ propelled themselves into the breach, some landing on the ruins of the outer wall, others on the ground. As heretics and Chaos Marines pulled themselves clear of the rubble, bolt pistols and chainswords found their marks, and soon all out war was beginning. At the same time, the two Devastator squads of the company brought their weapons to bear upon the enemy, as plasma cannons and heavy bolters burnt and ripped through infantry, lascannons and rocket launchers took out turrets and other key locations. Meanwhile, a robed figure led his men below this hail of fire. Sword in one hand, storm bolter in the other, Simoleo charged. Beside him ran Daly; the pace that him and the guard were keeping impressed Simoleo, for they could match him and the marines, although over a longer distance he didn’t think it could last. As the weight of close to seventy marines bore down on the city, backed up by many more guardsmen, many of the heretic soldiers broke rank, fleeing in fear from the work of the assault squads, and their new allies behind them. Not one Chaos Marine broke rank, but this was clear to be suicide. For nothing could stop the tide of green power armour that burst through the breech at that moment. As he burst through the ruins of the wall, Simoleo instantly analysed the situation. Heretics ran in fear of his mighty company, and any Chaos Marine that stood their ground would soon find themselves in pieces on the floor. With a mighty roar, Simoleo drew his second sword and leapt over an enemy barricade, having faith in his armour to protect him while he was in the open. Swinging with skill and precision, his power swords left the Chaos Marine’s armour in ruins. Looking around, he saw that the area was clear. “Brothers! To me! Onwards we march!” C+C as always :) -Simoleo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177427-the-andreus-campaign/page/2/#findComment-2433770 Share on other sites
