Here is my first two assembled squads in a long time. First up is my Terminator Assault Squad. The thunder hammer peens are scratch built (as per my tutorial) as are the Ultramarines emblems.

The helm is from the Forge World Commander Culn and is painted in the 2nd ed. style. It will go on the cork board, erm, the termie with all the purity seals.

The lightning claw guys are next:

All will have Forge World shoulder pads.

The tactical squad is up next. They are based off the Forge World Red Scorpion resin bits. I love those Mk.4 torsos. All will have metal Ultramarine pads. The heavy weapon will be a heavy bolter.

All miniatures are on Dragon Forge Designs resin bases. They ROCK!

I've tried to build some character into my marines. Let me know what y'all think. More will come!

Very nice there mate  where afraid to be seeing another standard smurf army there.. :o but i where supriced to see a nice and cool one instead.. nice use of parts and modeling.. :)

cheers mate

That is what I am going for, an interesting, well modeled army that is characterful. This will not be your standard Space Smurf army. I promise that.

this could be an awesome smurf army :) 2nd ed was darker blue right?

The 2nd edition color was Ultramarines blue for the armor, but these will be the newer, darker blue. Something close to a Prussian Blue. P3 Exile Blue is my base color. I just like some of the 2nd edition touches, like the striped helms, and even the red-orange colored lightning claws. I have a 2nd ed. codex just for the inspiration.

Thank you to all the early lookers and comments. I promise this will be an enjoyable ride.

I like the conversions and insignia so far. Very characterful. It will definitely stand apart from the hordes of standard from-the-box space marines painted up as Ultramarines. I especially like the walking sergeant with the storm bolter.

The red helmet with a white stripe is how the Ultramarines denote veteran sergeant status. Regular marines have the blue helmet, veterans (including squad leaders) get white, sergeants red, and veteran sergeants red with a white stripe. So your terminator sergeant should have the red helm with a white stripe and the rest of your terminator squad should have white. If you really want to get an old-school feel and you do tactical terminators, remember to put black and yellow hazard striping on the powerfists.

I've been working on Sgt. Purity Seal tonight, and I've adjusted its height upwards a few millimeters. I think it helps sets him apart as the squad leader. I've also given him a scratch built Roman-strappy-belt-thingy. It needs to me detailed out some, but that's in the works. I also gave him a hood ornament made from a servo-skull from the Devastator set. It looks cool to me. He also got a back flap/banner from the Devastator set too. I think he's done apart from fine detailing and painting now.

Here's the pictures:

Here's the primed and started Chaplain Dread for my army. I'll count it as either a regular Dread or a Venerable Dread.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/wrnjr/DSC01938.jpg

Having an all black dread in an UM army will be a nice visual break from the norm.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/wrnjr/DSC01939.jpg

The scroll came from a Sisters of Battle mini, but I'm not certain about that. I just think it adds to his chaplainyness.

The 2XL lascanon is not affixed permanently, but I don't have any magnets small enough to make it interchangeable just yet. Who knows, its the traditional Dread load out so it may become permanent.

Lemme know what you think.

Here is my Agemman counts as. He's modeled after Kantor for rules purposes, and is made from the AOBR captain body, a Master of the Chapter powerfist, and the storm bolter from the terminator chaplain. The torso is my fav from the Templar line, and the emblem is from the FW PE fret. It still has a long way to go, and the head is just a place holder, so here y'all go:

How's this for a start? Comments and critiques welcome.

It's pretty cool but the right terminator arm does look a little big/wide/thick??

They made the sword arm attach at a weird point so you can't just attach a hand you need the wrist too, just to make it harder to convert -.-

Here is another Marine that I have been working on for a while now. It is my Company Champion. He has a long way to go, especially since I have yet to apply any epoxy putty to the joins or the altered leg, but this is the basic pose and mock-up. He will probably also have a cape.

Parts used were:

  • Forge World Red Scorpions Vet. SGT torso
  • Forge World Grey Knight head
  • Emperor Champions sword and forearm.
  • Plastic legs, bolt pistol arm, Eldar Dire Avenger crest, and Empire shield
  • Forge World Ultramarine icons and purity seals
  • stock styrene

The extra armor is just strip styrene applied and cut to shape. Strip was added for the ribbing, and the IV was made the same way.

Lemme know what you think.
