I was originally misled into thinking that the results of the World Wide Events such as the Eye of Terror Campaign and the Storm of Chaos for Fantasy actually had a bearing on what would happen in the later fluff. I now have even less faith in the human race as a whole.

 

Imagine what would happen if Abaddon managed to take Cadia (a quite likely proposition with the forces he had at hand): The Imperium would have lost a good chunk of the Segmentum Obscurus and Solar Battlefleets, forcing them to recall the majority of their forces back to Terra for their stand, leaving the Galactic South undefended against Hive Fleet Leviathan. The Eldar would need to mobilize against Abbadon, but with Eldrad gone they don't really have anyone to organize the craftworlds.

 

But, Papa Smurf and his SuperFriends triumphed against all odds yet again. *Yawn*

I don't understand why a hive fleet won't mash in to the eye of terror. Think about it, a new Tyranids codex / chaos codex in one year then a campaign. Chaos defending themselves against a hive fleet, with the Imperium seeing thier chance to attack chaos at vital points and take back Cadia. Eldar doing something wierd as usual. Would be awesome.

Chaos on defense would be ungodly bad for the Imperium, and with the art of Tyranids against Demons, yeah, it's not good or pretty. The Iron Warriors have one of the most heavily Guarded planets in the Eye, and the Tyranids would have to get into Cadia in order to get into the Eye, bypassing The massive fleets and bastions, not to mention all that. The Hivemind would be completely Insane to attempt that.

 

The Imperials don't have the balls to go into the Eye, the only people who go in there are Insane, Stupidly brave, ravaging depression, or was a Primarch who was all of the above.

no one would dare launch an attack into the Eye of Terror. it's just stupid to try and fight Chaos in a realm made up of it.

Imagine the Imperial scum trying to invade Daemon worlds lol it would be suicidal! Wouldnt it actually be IMPOSSIBLE for the forces of the emperor to successfully raid the EoT? I'm under the impression that the Warp has an unlimited never ending horde of daemons, so, even IF the Imperials managed to defeat the Chaos legions the constant tide of deamons would obviously eventually defeat them!

 

It could also lead to the daemon primarch's getting involved too ;)

If the Imperium would make an large scale invasion it wouldn't be to push them back and defeat them. (Since they know it's impossible) But what they could do is try to destroy important 'stuff' in there. For example Forge worlds, blow up a daemon world. Try to pin point and kill certain characters (not that GW would kill for example Abby) The imperium could always try.

The orks did it. Tuska the Daemonkiller lead a waaagh into the cadian gate, attacked an unimportant training world to get his army used to fighting in extreme environments and then bypassed the Imperials and attacked the Eye of Terror. They destroyed at least half a dozen daemon worlds before they were finally beaten by a Daemon Prince of Khorne.

 

But no one would replace Abbadon. Only the Black legion uses all of the cults. A few warbands do this as well, but they're all too young to have the respect of Legions. The Iron Warriors are too paranoid to be good leaders. Word bearers don't worship individual gods so they couldn't work well alongside cult legions. Alpha Warriors and Night lords do their own thing. No cult legion could lead any other cult legion. No one within the Black Legion has the clout of Abbadon. It took Abby thousands of years to gain the Legions' respect. If his successor somehow managed to ally with all the legions, the first loss would mean the end of the alliance. Most likely, if abby ever died, the black legion would completely splinter.

Alot of us are really neutral, it's just funny to hate on the Warmaster.

 

In retrospect, he did good this Crusade, but the general meme is he is a gaping failure and an unworthy ally.

 

It's minor respect really, he will backstab his allies and other Legions to save his own ass, and then reap the end benefits if there are any to be salvaged. Remember, the Legion support for Abby are Deserters and small bargains, not full combat non-aggression pacts and unified forces.

 

Also, his model is way too expensive for anything but Apoc.
