TheReclusiarch
Hello! This is my first ever real conversion project. Ever since a friend of mine got a few Dark Elf Cold One knights I knew I had to get some of my own. I'm going to use them as Space Marine bikes and want it to be as WYSIWYG as possible, so two bolters on these monsters is a must! Here's two WIP pictures of the first two dino riders I put together. http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider1.jpg http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177519-dino-riders/ Share on other sites

sgtNACHO
Dude! Sick, this reminds me of something I saw on the GW site I think, a long time ago. It was a Marine on a Lizardmen Carnasaur I think, but this is way cooler! verpine
Dude! That is crazy awesome! Does it involve a lot of cutting/GS work? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177519-dino-riders/#findComment-2098702 Share on other sites
barry_hhh
AWESOME , I wish more marines would ride cold ones IMHO they just look so cool! i have a question on the legs however i have had some of these in production for ages just havent quite got to finishing (as usual), how did you get around the legs? as you can see in this pic i had to carve some of the cold one away http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/barry_hhh/IMG_1555.jpg it seems the legs are a bit too narrow so i had to carve some of the cold one away , how did you get around this? what legs did you use and did you reposition them? cant wait to see the finished product!! what colour are they going to end up? I think it is because you are using biker legs, they are a little narrow because they are made to fit on bikes. Recluisarch used normal standing legs, which have a more open position... Averki
Great work so far. I'm using horses for my Dark Angels successors, and converting them to make them look mechanically enhanced. I'll be watching your posts to see what kinds of ideas I may be able to "liberate" for myself, especially since I'm a bit stuck on what to do about attack "bikes" and how to WYSIWYG a 2 wound model effectively. Your Dino Riders are making me regret my decision not to go that route a bit! Castlerook
Weren't there like Space Marines on dinosaurs in the first days of Rogue Trader? I think they were almost released but pulled at the last second. Anyway, those Riders are nicely done, now get started on some more of them. TheReclusiarch
Glad you like them, it keeps my going! And while my marines have green armour and brown skin, they are not Salamanders, but Emerald Knights. ;) To make the legs work I had to cut them off at the joints, glue the groin area onto the cold one then attach the elgs so it looked ok. Then you need to greenstuff or cover up the exposed gaps that result in the relocation of the legs. And the colour, not sure yet actually. Maybe a Darker green. Here's the Sergeant for the Dinorider unit(yes, I'll change the name of the unit later on ;)). http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider3.jpg http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider4.jpg And yes, I somehow managed to cut off part of my nail while working on them. TheReclusiarch
Here's the last two, which make five total dino riders (Yes, everything is better with a bit of DINO in 'em!). These two are the ones that carry the special weapons, in this case meltaguns. One is a tech adept of some sort and has a mini servo-harness to carry his meltagun (even techies love dinos!) and the other one is the "rambo-raging-marine-of-doom"! Now to wait for some bases, remove some more mold lines, then we start painting! http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider5.jpg http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider6.jpg http://www.enharjarna.org/David/wipdinorider7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177519-dino-riders/#findComment-2100822 Share on other sites

Vulkan454
Those are awesome! Im getting some for my salamander army (they said salamanders dont use bikes but they never said anything about dino's) Great work man :) Give yourself a sticker Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177519-dino-riders/#findComment-2101388 Share on other sites
Sersi
I like the idea and even have seen it work with IG, etc. But your pics just go to show that those cold ones far to small, to be marine mounts. Compare them to the Dew-back is Star Wars. That marine looks like he's riding a my little pony! :) Would look better on a a lizardmen Carnosaur.
