Barret
Although I'm largely on sabbatical from my Space Marines in favour of my WWI Canadian-style Imperial Guard, they're not ready for prime-time yet so the campaign I'm playing in at my FLGS is being graced by my Iron Hands. After going 1-2 last time, I decided my Iron Hands needed some new leadership. Thus, this jet-packing, relic-blading Captain. I thought I'd grab some pics before I ruined him with paint. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Iron%20Hands/Captain-WIP1.jpg The jet pack and servo-skulls are magnetized, with the servo-skulls acting as his wound counter. Here's a shot of the components, though the torso will be glued to the legs after painting. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Iron%20Hands/Captain-WIP2.jpg Although I haven't settled on a name yet, I just saw Kikkala's similar but better executed Captain and may have to borrow the "Assault-Captain" designation. dood515
Very, very cool not sure that an iron hand that was weak enough to have to replace both arms and legs would be chosen as a captain to lead any part of the army but all fluff ignnored i really like it alot! Ferrus Manus
Looking good Barret, get some paint on it. Any updates on the afore mentioned Guardsmen? @dood515 - under old fluff, not sure about new and haven't got the 'dex to check, Iron Hands considered it an honour not a sign of weakness to receive bionics. Retributis
They're very big on optional replacement too, so he probably chose to have his limbs replaced with strong steel over weak flesh rather than losing them in battle <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177578-iron-hands-captain/#findComment-2099639 Share on other sites
Askren
Not a bad build. I especially like the magnetic skulls. I would suggest using a rod or other solid cylinder shape for the sword handle, rather than GS, as the bulge in the middle is kinda strange looking. Also, I'd do something about those shoulders. Maybe remove the GS, and use thin plasticard to make them, so again, it's a smoother, more solid look, than a lumpy blob of greenstuff. All in all, though, nice ideas going on. Can't wait to see it finished. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177578-iron-hands-captain/#findComment-2099644 Share on other sites
Barret
Ayep, Iron Hands receive more and more bionics as they age, and the most respected are almost entirely mechanical. Glad you guys generally seem to like him. I know some of the GS is a bit rough, but he's got to be done for Sunday so any improvements will have to wait until I have more time to work with. Tomorrow, paint! --edit-- Ferrus Manus, my Guard are all on my blog, A Canadian In Space. Barret
Sigh. The Captain, now dubbed Assault-Captain Lars Skargaard after my favourite Viking, is done. I'm a little bitter about how the cape came out, aside from the edging, and the backpack shows where I started to get frustrated and rushing. Other than that, though, I think he's good to go. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Iron%20Hands/Captain-Done1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Iron%20Hands/Captain-Done2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/ElcidBarret/Iron%20Hands/Captain-Done3.jpg That nasty smear...thing...on the cape is because I still haven't mastered using the washes on anything but flesh, khaki and metal, but at that point I was far too frustrated to keep reinforcing failure, so it gets left for now. I'll probably go back later and try to revisit it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177578-iron-hands-captain/#findComment-2101760 Share on other sites
