New Chaos Player looking for guidance

Hi all, I'm a new member of the forums as well as new to 40K. I've only played a handful of times with friends, but I'm enjoying it and trying to learn good tactics.

The next game we're playing is part of a larger scale campaign. Here is the challenge that I have.

I will be defending a "fort" of my making with a 1500 point Chaos Space Marine army. I'm defending an objective that the other 2 players are going to try to get to. I will be facing 2x 1000 point armies, one Eldar and one Space Marines. I don't really know what they're going to throw at me, but I'm expecting ironclad dreadnaughts and armor from my Space Marine playing friend. There's also some incentive for them to fight each other at least a little as kill points will also count for the overall outcome. I will be at one end of a long table and they will be coming at me from the two opposing corners.

So there's 2 aspects I need to think about. First, and most obvious is troop selection. Second is troop placement and cover. Again, I get to pick my defense, which can be buildings, partial cover, etc.

For troops I'm kind of leaning toward a decent number of plague marines as front line defense to soak up damage. I was thinking of having a defiler and maybe a couple of oblits for low AP shootiness against vehicles and HQ, and maybe some noise marines for anti-troop dakka. I'm thinking a Sorcerer with mark of Slaneesh for my ranged HQ.

As for placement, I really don't know. I don't have much experience with buildings (the one time I tried to use one I got roasted inside it - damn I hate Carnifexes).

I'm very open to suggestions and look forward to seeing what players with much more experience than myself come up with. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. As I said, I'm really new to this, so my choices listed above may be completely dumb... Be honest and tear it to shreds if needed (I won't be insulted). Thanks in advance!

Obliterators+bunker/fortifications= nasty. An obliterator with a 3+ cover save, or an obliterator in a 14armor bunker. I'm sorry, that is outright nasty. I would say at least 4 obliterators since your on the defense against a greater force here.

The plague marines are also not a bad idea. With plasma guns they have decent range, are hard to kill... especially in cover as that protects them somewhat against ap2 weapons, and they can soak up assaults.

I would say you also want some bezerkers for counter assaults. It would not surprise me if they drop pod stuff on you, bezerkers can make quick work of those units when they land.

If your oblits are in a bunker(14 armor immobile vehicle) then I say a defiler is a great addition. He will draw fire from the bunkers and vice versa. If he is your only armor then he is in trouble.

Being down 500pts I would argue that I should be able to have as many bunkers as I like. Take those bunkers, fill them with nasty things. And have barricades to stand behind, tank traps, razor wire, etc.

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like I wasn't completely off-base with my first pass of army build. I'll have to read up on bunkers and tank traps as I didn't even know they existed... I'll have to keep a few guys with meltas and maybe a chainfist to handle the dreadnaughts that I know are coming.
