Red Wolves

Hopefully I'm not just reposting an old thread here :P.

So I was leafing through my Space Marine codex fluff for the second time when I decided to actually sit down and read the Ultramarines and other chapters (not including Space Wolves... boo hiss) fluff when I came upon a time line entry from 750.m41 where a chapter known as the Red Wolves manages to deny the Night Lords a possessed star cruiser. Looking up on Lexicanum, the Red Wolves are one of those unknown/forgotten origin chapters however they share the same universal Space Wolves symbol as Space Wolves themselves. Anyone think that this chapter may be a kind of long lost founding of the Space Wolves which may be included in the next codex?

As stated only one successor for us which are no more.

Seeing how the actual wolf animal should be quite common, I see no surprise that one of the gazillion codex chapters wouldn't choose it as their symbol.

Heck, there were even two "wolf" legions when originally created. We just push the bad butted-ness of the animal to nuclear levels.

Also remember the Wolf's Head is not a "universal" Space Wolves symbol, it is the symbol for Ragnar Blackmane's Great Company. Every other Great Company has their own individual symbol and the Space Wolves have no singular Chapter Symbol however the Blackmane Wolf symbol gets used a lot as such but it really isn't.

Anyway as others have said the Space Wolves don't have any successors or later founding Chapters other than the Wolf Brothers who went bonkers...

Hey,

The Red Wolves: Doesn't the Wolf Symbol of the Heresy Era depict a single red wolf head? (I dont remember where I red that.)

---More so they represent a chance for a Space Wolf player to get a bit creative. Perhaps their are a fanatically loyal group of wolves, who feel the Space Wolves have strayed to far from the image of Russ. Perhaps they were a Great Company that was sent of on a great hunter and after centuries lost in the warp have returned, and unable to adapt to the changes in the 41st they did not return to the fang. (therefore not their own chapter, just a lost chapter)

Highly unlikely, as said Wolves are common animals and commonly used as a symbol. The Red Wolves are in the Codex: Space Marines so are almost certainly a Codex Chapter, something no group of Wolves no matter how hard you try could manage I don't think.
