Nurgle Sorc Setup.

So, my Chaos are nearly up to 1,500 under the new 'dex (yes I dropped the bikes, oh how I wanted them to still be good :)) and I happen to have a unit of seven Plague Marines who desperately need someone to respect; so I've decided to give them a blubbery, rotten Sorc to follow.

With 160pts to spare, I was originally going with: Wings and Nurgle's Rot

However I now find myself tempted by the idea of: Terminator Armour, Combi-Melta*, Nurgle's Rot.

The Plague Marines don't have a Rhino so he could tag along with them, or he could Deep Strike either with my Undivided Termicide Unit or on his own and then either Combi-Melta* something or if amongst hordes he can cast Rot.

Of course there's a reason it's called Termicide, but unless I find the points for a Rhino for the PM's and put him in with them he's always going to be targeted regardless.

Anyone given it a go and got some opinions to share?

*Taking a Flamer seems like horde-killing overkill, but the Plasma isn't definitely out...

Warptime makes the sorcerer decently similar to daemon weapons, and you can bypass that power to use your force weapon if you so prefer. I also believe that nurgles rot is a side weapon for slapping orks around and the like. So warptime can make up for the minimal damage that power does as well to some degree, though rot costs less. Warptime does more.

If you have the points for it, it would be kinda fun to take the Nurgle mount. +1 attack and +1 wound isn't too horrible really, especially if you're stuck in a footslogging squad anyway right?

Or give him a Bike. Hide him behind Land Raiders or terrain so he doesn't get insta-popped, then dash into a squad and lay down the Rot. T6 means they're wounding on 6's most of the time. The only problem (which is a big one) is watch out for hidden Power Fists. But against shooting squads or squads without a Power Fist, you'll grind them down all by yourself.

Or just keep it cheap, 135 points for a Nurgle Sorcerer with Rot hidding in a Plague Marine squad isn't bad really. He's basically their super Aspiring Champion.

I did start off with the idea of maybe putting him on a Palanquin, but while +1W & +1A was appealing, for 2/3rds of the cost I can get a 2+ armour save, a combi-weapon and the ability to Deep Strike, if desired. With the points limit I have for him (155 to 160) the appeal of Deep Striking and then either using the combi-weapon or casting Rot was pretty compelling. And, of course, it doesn't stop him footslogging if I want him to and being their super A/C as you state (especially as he'll have a combi-weapon to complement their double special weapons).
