Noob question about assault

The BRB is plain simple about it. If no base contact is made, the assault does no ocurr. Problem appeared when a friend of mine puts his marines on the edge of a rock formation, less than an inch tall. The other guy assaulted with his orks, he moved at and inch of distance, so he had an automatic assault, even if he had to check difficlut terrain, but he could not make BtB contact because he was on the floor level. The Ork models could touch the marines with their arms, but there was no BtB contact. Are models standing on a crate or similar thing unassaultable? How do you treat this particular case? Thanks in advance for the help!

Units sometimes ( as per your example) are unable to get BtB .

That does not mean they are unable to assault.

BRB pg.85 Ruins and Assaults will show you how to play them.

This is a "common sense" case, if you ask me :P The orks easily had the movement to reach the marines, so just move them as close as you can to the marines and assume they are in base contact even though the terrain makes that physically impossible.

Thanks for the fast reply lads. It is of course a case of common sense, but sometimes friends can be non cooperative on that issue :D Pg. 85 will solve this problem for good ;)
