michell_imperial_fists
looks good as a miniature not to sure though as an entire army its just it doesn't fell like it'd be an entire army scheme to me but that's just me though other than that extremely good painting nothing their to criticize Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177791-test-model/#findComment-2102067 Share on other sites
sword brethren
looks really nice, i love the effect on the axe, i wouldnt be complaining if you posted a force of these guys ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177791-test-model/#findComment-2102132 Share on other sites
odinswolf
i like it , good effect for the glowing eyes etc but the cloak needs a few extra blends to stop it looking like black and white stripes and more like shadow Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177791-test-model/#findComment-2102175 Share on other sites
dood515
I really, really like this and an army like tihs would be great source lighting is very cool but maybe a bit heavy under the eye? Also, I don't think there would be any light like that on parchment as it isn't reflective. Nemisor
thanks for the coments guys. this was the first time i have ever atempted blending and source lighting, so im sure i'll only get better at it ( i hope :whistling: ) Also, I don't think there would be any light like that on parchment as it isn't reflective. i was thinking the same thing after i posted it, great minds think alike aye? ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/177791-test-model/#findComment-2103958 Share on other sites
FireLizard
This is extremely close tot he Iron Snakes paint scheme... you may want to take a look into that chapter is your undecided about an entire force of this scheme. See if you like their background and story. sometimes looking into existing chapters helps me. Nemisor
yeah i thought that as soon as i started painting the robe white. i do like the iron snakes (great book too)but i think this time i'd like my own chapter as i've done a blood angels and alpha legion so far. SCCOJake
I love the paint job, looks great. I could even see a whole army of these guys. All that has been said before, so I'll also add some constructive criticism: I don't like the green bolt pistol. It might just be a personal preference but for some reason it looks out of place. I think it might be that you have the blue power axe and then the green doesn't really balance it out well enough. I would say you either need something very different from the rest of the model, something that will complement it without clashing, or something that blends into the paint job you already have. Nemisor
good point. i dont want to do black weapons again as ive done them on my blood angels. do you think a dark red would work better? the thousandth whisper
I would recommend gold bolters, would add some more colour, a warm colour to go with all the cold colours, the blue, the greys. It would really draw the eye from the miniature to the bolter. It would be a great centrepiece around them. SCCOJake
A dark red could look good, but its one of those things I would have to see you know? I kind of like the suggestion of doing a gold colored bolter. I would say black but you already said you don't want to do black, so my vote right now would be the dark red.
