Space wolf tactica series?

Basically I've been thinking we should do a whole series of tacticas based on the new codex. So we get several people to research each unit entry and compile their findings into dedicated tactica articles for each entry. This would provide a ready to use resource for newcomers and veterans alike.

So who's interested? I'm also thinking that special characters could be included in the relevant sections.

And I call Rune Priests!

Things we know are in the 'dex:

Logan Grimnar

Sharpsilver

Ragnar Blackmane

Ulrik the Slayer

Njarl Stormcaller

Aeddon

The Trickster

Canis Wolfborn

Decoy

Wolf Lords

maligncomedy

Wolf Priests

Wolfpriest

Rune Priests

Mikal Wolfheart

Iron Priests

Wolf Guard (going to be a biggie!)

Sharpsilver

Wolfe

Wolf Scouts

ChapniK

Ven Dreads

Spectre 312

Dreadnoughts

Spectre 312

Blood Claws

Vassakov

grahumulot

Grey Hunters

Neth_Oni

Grey mage

Vassakov

Wolfe

Bikers

Sky Riders

OnlyInDeath

And a Barrel of Ale

Thunderwolf Riders

OnlyInDeath

Long Fangs

Warhorse47

Grey Mage

since I will be fielding an army strongly relying on a Grey Hunters base I could go for studying, playtesting and compiling a tactica on the Grey hunters

Unless of course this whelp is too new for your liking :P

All wolves are worthy! So long as you can write in a literate way and have no problem working with others then that'll be fine. I'll put your name down.

Well, I'm used to writing fluff and information about tournaments and other events since I am mostly organizing the gaming here in Borlänge, Sweden. I also have quite a lot of experience with different races, their ups and downs, how to play my own race and how to play the adversary from several tournaments and lots of club-activities. I still haven't aquired much know-hows and real battle experience with the wolves but have played chaos, guards, marines, orks, nidz and a little with the wolves as well as having fought all the races several times.

I have yet to write a tactica myself, but I am quite familiar to working with others thanks to school and I hope that a few tips from the others, hopefully more experienced writers will get me started :P

May I suggest using the format used by DemetriiTZ in his tactica on Plague Marines and Nurgle forces.

It can be found on this forum

It is an excellent setup, uses the OP as the mod, who can go back to the first post and amend at will as new info comes up, and still allows for everyone to chip in their proverbial 2cts.

Thank you for that, my main concern is the post is incredibly long so hence why I want to break it down into smaller tacticas so the user can simply browse for what they require and use the knowledge contained within.

Yes, that´s true. However, Demi amends the original first post to take anything worthwhile into accaount, so it´s possible to check most just by looking at the first page (it´s certainly an option for this thread). The downside of your setup is that you´d need a separate post for every category, which can become just as hard to keep track of as one long post (unless you can sticky them).

But hey, either way I´d be happy to read and contribute, I heartily applaud your initiative! Looking forward to what I can learn about our new dex! :P

Having lots of posts I believe is out of the question, it's just going to be messier than that Nurgle tactica. We could go about doing pretty much the same thing, but having a list at the top of the page where to find what one wants to see, something like this:

1. The army

2. HQ's

3. Troops

etc.

And then

1. The army

info...

2. HQ's

info...

3. Troops

info...

This way even a very long tactica article can easily be navigated

Possible, it would be something like this:

That seems to work well.

Let me stress that a lot of what we want has already been done on other threads on this forum. let´s not reinvent the wheel!

Well the point is we get a shiny new dex to play with so tactics will change

Ill take Long Fangs, and perhaps a relook at Grey Hunters depending on how Oni does his.

Id also put forth the Format I used in my Dead Eldar tactica- instead of saying how to kill the unit, put forth likely dangers. Instead of saying how to die against them put more emphasis on what you can use the unit for.

I meant reinventing the wheel in terms of layout and presentation. Obviously our tactics will differ significantly from those Chaotic scummers...

Apologies brother I was unaware that the last statement was about the layout, I thought it was referring to compiled tacticas currently which would need some re-vamping at least.

I'm down for working on Wolf Lords or Iron/Wolf Priests or basically anything people don't want to do. Preferrably Lords though (Since I've got several ideas floating in my mind). Although I am young in the fang, I am old in the game. So I feel that even though I may be new to this army, my view may be valid due to the amount of experience I have. And I have written faqs/tactica for different armies or games in the past so I'm sure grasping this will not be too hard.

I have one question though. How much info/data do you want? And do you want math-hammer included? What about comparison and contrast with other armies equivalent/similar units? Pros and cons? Basic/Extended rundown of options?

I'll put you down for Lords. What we're looking for is really detailed breakdowns of choices and the tactics to use, you don't have to cover every combination say but just mention a couple of effective builds and how they are used/who to support them with.

The comparison between other armies isn't really an issue I feel as it's more how to use what you've got to hand. And this is why I reckon more than one person per type is going to be helpful.

And wolf guard are going to be a pain to review I feel with the level of customisation.
