Gaeus Marius
I read or heard somewhere that the original color of the wolf symbol on our armor was red. Is that true? I am painting a darker grey army, and the red would be a good contrast, but I wanted to know if there was any historical accuracy behind the thought. Or am I thinking of the Red Wolves? KiltedMarine
In Rogue Trader, an illo shows a Space Wolf banner with the wolf logo in red on a yellow background, IIRC. That was back in the days of studded left shoulders and beaky helmets. Index Astartes also lists the Red Wolves chapter, and their logo looks much like the SW logo in shape, but there's nothing saying you can't paint your GC's icon in red on a grey background. Grey Mage
All of my Space Wolves are the grey-blue with Red shoulder pads as the Great Company symbol. The Pack Symbols change, though both Grey Hunters and Bloodclaws are red with a black or yellow runic symbol on it. RedMoon
i say do what ever you wanna do. space wolves are very forgiving for that kind of thing as each wolf lord has there own symbol. so who is to say your wolf lord has the symbol of a red wolf for him self. Hrathnar Flintfang
If you are going to go into custom company markings, I would say you may wish to look into this http://www.papilio.com/laser%20water%20sli...al%20paper.html or something like it. I havent gotten any yet myself, but I think that custom waterslides would be much more useful than trying to make something you can paint. Especially if you are like me and have no talent with painting. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178067-colors/#findComment-2105441 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
The heraldry is dependent on the Lord, there is no Space Wolf Legion/Chapter logo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178067-colors/#findComment-2105444 Share on other sites

Gaeus Marius
Thanks guys! The Prodpero Burns poster was the image I was thinking of. I have a bunch of the Ragnar style shoulder pads, and was planning on painting the wolf red. Great link for waterslides too! Lumdin
In the new codex they show exactly what symbols belong to what wolf lords. I was the the impression that the wolf that looks like its dancing on its hind legs is the chapter symbol. But I am a noob and could be wrong. Its the only symbol they dont assign to a wolf lord. Also in our last codex its the symbol on the pointer that specifies which wolf lord is the Great wolf.
