Exactly I've heard it many times that we are one of the most laid back forums around, always re as ready to welcome fresh Blood Claws, and I'm sure we can keep this up with the great floodgate of new blood. Now there will inevitably be some collecting because it's the new army, and fair enough, it's their choice. But I feel we will see many more who are in love with the miniatures and were thinking of joining the ranks but waiting for something to happen. But we are definitely alll wolves. And the lack of storms does not upset me greatly as I was only going to use them in apocalypse which I can, and probably the same with Ironclads as well, though it would be nice to have a dread with two close combat weapons. Let us await the next great hunt brothers. Rather than praising any one individual for our good attitude Id say its because we are a good group of people. While some of the minor changes maybe irksome for now, we will learn to overcome and adapt! If the IG can do it, we sure as hell can! :) B) . We have a new codex, which even if it was completely duff, we would still use to march and fight to glory and copious amounts of ale. For inspiration I refer you to one of my favourite lines from the Manowar song 'Die with Honour' "I'll die fighting with my brothers side by side" We are the Wolves of Fenris - accept no substitute! One thing I would like to know is whether its newer players or older players (or even non SW players) doing most of the complaining about the new dex? Personnaly I always look forward to a new dex no matter what. We got new models, new rules and new units. As long as our rune priesta and wolf priests asre still inititiave 5 I dont care about anything else. As far as i se it, I will have at least 2xunits with 10gh with specialweapons in a Dp. after hat I dont think I would afford more maxed out dp´s. they will probably have 7+1 or less in them. As far as I can tell after browsing the book, it got a lot of loving. Not to mention everything is finally in ONE book for SW players. Amazing fluff in the book as well! Hell my space wolf dex that i have now is turning yellow and falling apart because its a little old, lol. I don't care what the points costs are or how they balance us, i would rather take one space wolf model at 1850 then any other list, even if he might get shot dead turn 1. i would rather die as a wolf then live as any other chapter. And as far as the new canis model its goofy, but i like it, because no one else has a model that looks like that. I love my wolves because they stand out from the other space marines. As for the size in a DP or a LR i could care less, 10 is more then enough room for me, i just hate that depending on the codex that the same vehicle and wargear have different options. When i see a storm shield i want to know what it does not look at it and have to ask, now which codex is that from? Mr. Danvers Posted September 11, 2009 Share Posted September 11, 2009 The only Doom & Gloom I have over the new book is the endless whining of 'cheese' and 'that's broken' from what I assume to be mostly somewhat bitter codex and CSM players. It's been what? 10 years since we had a new book, the codex ones have had 2 in that time, but oh no it's not fair that we get something they dont. Cause you know that free flamer really matches up to that free H.Bolter/Missile Launcher or MM you got..... I played Wolves back in 2nd ed (showing my age and tooth length a bit there :P) and got the current book when it came out. I only got back into the hobby about 1.5 years ago and always found that they were suffering a bit compared to other forces in the newer versions of the game. Or maybe it was because I'm not the best player, but it's about time we got an update, but all I've seen from everyone apart from us is constant bitching and whining about our new book. I tried discussing the finer points of the reduced transport capacity that stops us taking pack leaders or stops our extra special weapon, lack of combat squad rule that is insanely useful in an objective based game where you need as many scoring units as possible. But all I get is 'Counter attack is so bent and you have acute senses!' Last time I checked AS only works in 1 turn of the game and only if you rolled for NF rules, where all those codex dudes got a free searchlight on their vehicles anyway! Or the fact that our army wise USR of CA only works on an successful LD check, but they don't need to roll for their twin-linked meltas, Fleet, +1 cover saves etc. Sorry guys, it's really beginning to annoy me how whiny people are getting cause we got something they didn't. Oh noes! The SW book doesn't have Plague/Lash in it, that's not fair! Oh noes! We didn't get a Rune Priest that has Eldrad's Powers! I'm going to write to GW telling them I'm going to quit the game cause they didn't write the book properly.... I'm gong to field hopefully a similar list to my current one except perhaps with Njarl because I always wanted to have a special character Rune Priest but alas he wasn't in my 3rd ed dex. However I will certainly be having a lot of terminators that become scoring units in apocalypse. And with regard to Mr. Danvers I agree. They complain about everything. Admittedly I'm a bit confused as to why Grey Hunters are 15 points a model but GW have done it now and they do know what they are doing, at least I hope so! I play with several BA players and I would say most of the whinging has come from them. We get new models, units and fluff. What more could a wolf want? So the Canis model doesn't look very good. Who cares? I love the CONCEPT of SW riding wolves into battle. As has been said already if you don't like the GW model make/convert your own. From what I've heard alot of the new stuff is going to make us better at close combat which is one of the things I love about being a wolf in the first place. I've already booked into my local GW for some of the events they are running on the release day and I know a lot of players who are not SW, but want to see the new stuff.
