Doghouse
Here are a couple of the many conversions that I'm working on prior to GS work. Mostly arm swops for now but I'll be playing around with some more advanced ideas. I gave the flamer guy a stormbolter because of health and safety reasons. No-one with that many parchments should be allowed near a naked flame. The first guy will be probably be used as a Captain Belial of the Deathwing proxy for what will become a Blood Wing army. I've got some cool ideas for basing them as well which I will get to later in the thread. http://i32.tinypic.com/2dvli88.jpg http://i28.tinypic.com/2dl6q2g.jpg http://i29.tinypic.com/209hdgl.jpg http://i25.tinypic.com/2dlirrp.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/ Share on other sites
Montuhotep
Yet another Doghouse production! ;) Hope this one doesn't sink into obscurity like the CSK (od) but I did like the rationale behind the flamer being swapped for a stormbolter.... Keep going. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2106348 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Thanks mate. ;) Hopefully these guys will be fairly simple to focus on as I only have to do ten to begin with. As for the CSK(od) they are making a come back but it'll be in the form of some new space hulk rules and models I'm working on. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2106361 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
Yay new Doghouse project!! Lovely conversions! I decided to buy 3 boxes and have the same undertaking as you! Master Toddius
I think its a good idea, however with your screen name you may want to base your army on the wolf wing that will soon be seen when the SW is released for sale. I'll reserve my comments of your models individually when they are shown in the HALL OF HONOR. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2106651 Share on other sites
GumbaFish
Look forward to seeing what you do with them. Seeing close up pics really is impressive at the level of detail in the sculpts, I wonder if this may mean that character models will eventually be cast in plastic instead of metal. It certainly seems they are moving pretty close to being able to do so. Doghouse
Cheers guys! :( Master Toddius: Yeah I think you could be right there mate. :) Think I've only had one model in the hall of honour since the great crash. Doghouse
I thought it was an option in the Dark Angels dex? I can't find mine at the moment to verify it though. Here's my rather insane plan for basing the terminators. As I bought two sets I'm using the second set of doors to make the bases for the models. The idea is that I'll magnetise them so that I can use them for both space hulk and forty kay. Doghouse
This is brother Castigor of squad Decimus from the power armoured marine campaign I'm working on. Like the others I'm rebasing them using the door bases. http://i31.tinypic.com/2rm5p2h.jpg http://i31.tinypic.com/4t3xhe.jpg I'm no really too keen on Brother Scipio's pose because it merges most of the detail into the deck plate due to the casting process. I haven't started the GS work on him yet but have also repositioned the head so that he looks like he is looking down the corridor. So with the spare model that I have I've repositioned him using an AoBR terminator and given him an assault cannon. The black overlapping trim on the base is where I'm adding plasticard to the bottom of the base before I trim it to fit like with Castigor above. Each of the marines will have a name plate on the front of the base to give them a little character. http://i31.tinypic.com/r1mmih.jpg http://i30.tinypic.com/2q2h6hv.jpg http://i26.tinypic.com/2luz8lz.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2109689 Share on other sites

Doghouse
Cheers guys! :) I haven't painted a Blood Angel since the days of first edition so it's a bit of a trial and error thing at the moment. I've used a Mechrite red base coat and then built it up with a mix of Mechrite and blood red. I've started shading but the camera isn't really picking any of it up. :D I've still got to clean up a few areas like on the helmet pipes but it's getting there. Doghouse
Quick Update Still can't get the camera to pick up the red shading/highlights so I'll have to try and get some daylight shots tomorrow. I've begun painting the bolt gun metal bits before I give them a black wash and have started to dry brush the base to get a grungy sort of feel as a contrast to the cleaner red of the marine. http://i27.tinypic.com/4hb095.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2110528 Share on other sites

Doghouse
I thought so. Cheers for that mate. :) What I'm currently thinking is making a terminator heavy force using the regular marine codex now. It'll be the captain with lightning claws, a ten man terminator squad, five man terminator assault squad to back the captain up, two ten man tacticals, Land raider, vindicator, Librarian in terminator armour, Chaplain in terminator armour and a dreadnought. What I'll probably do is add as many options as humanly possible so that I can build whatever forces I need to field an army. I may make the Chaplain into a Logan Grimnar proxy so that I can field a wolf wing force using the Space Wolves codex as an alternative. I'd ideally like to just do a regular Blood Angels codex force but the terminator restrictions are a bit of a pain. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178165-delving-into-the-hulk/#findComment-2110578 Share on other sites
