Are there plenty of those outstretched arms for the bolters? I pray that they are, they will be essential to my grey hunters

There are 2 of the one in the picture and 4 with pistols that can be converted to bolters, in addition there are 2 plasma pistol arms that are outstretched. We will not have a lack of weapon arms as there are enough to have a pack shooting pistols or bolters.

I am setting up this squad to be all in a shooting stance. The one that I am working on now will be a slight conversion using a bolter.

Thanks a bunch Vrox! Now I'm just hoping that will be enough... cheers! have an ale on me!

EDIT: oh and this is easily becoming my favorite topic of the year! and makes me the most jealous ;)

Does all legs (pair of legs) have got the fury sword on it?

No legs have fury knives, I think you are looking at a seperate piece, their are two chest pieces that have a hanging knife and there is a bit that has crossed knife. of course lots of other little bits with knives.

Slight conversion using a bolt pistol arm and the holding bolter hand piece.

the painting skill on display are great as always. HOWEVER I am personnaly not convinced by all the heads on the sprues. Some just dont look like SW heads, they belong more in an empire (fantasy) man at arms sprue. Just because they have facial hair and a pony tail does not make them look like SW, To me they have lost some of that feral look that the 3rd edition plastioc heads had, Perhaps its just the lack of fangs?

I dunno some of the heads look just stupid. Like one with HUMONGOUS sideburns and little other hair. One of the heads has a massive mowhawk... on one side of the head... and the other half is well... bare, it looks kinda dumb.

I dunno what GW was thinking, some of the heads look awesome and oddly look like they took them straight from some of the older models with a few upgrades, which is fine. But some of them... I dunno who thought they were a good idea. Luckily there are enough to go around. B)

Head wise, some are meant to be Blood Claws the others Grey Hunters then a few here and there for Wolf Guard or whatever. While I agree some of the heads are a bit extreme, it is no big deal to give them a hair cut here or snip a beard there to get them back to looking like solid space wolves. Have no fears guys, enough heads for all to be happy.

While on that subject, there are two chest pieces that come with flat head mounts instead of the dimple area of the standard chest piece. From this you will see there are about three heads that are meant to be mounted on this flat surface. what I don't like about it is they are pretty much forced to be looking straight forward, which makes it hard for action poses. If you want to use them on a standard chest piece, they will need to be modified to give them a neck and thus a swivel ability.

WG Vrox.

Cleaning stage complete, nothing to note other than I did a major conversion to the WG's SB as the SB on the sprue comes as a left handed weapon, but so does the PF.

I suggest when putting these together that you really think though what pieces your going to use where before you assemble, some pieces just won't fit with others. things such as shoulder paulderns and back packs, gun arms and chest pieces.

I'm afraid I'm not really a fan of that storm bolter, may just be the angle or the tail on the front but it just doesn't look right in my opinion, however before I write it off completely I shall have to view it in person, after all its what every assaulty grey hunter pack needs on their WG.

Bit of a different angle on the storm bolter. Agreed the wolf tail on the end is a bit oversized for the gun, normally I would cut it off but since its a commision piece to show the sprue willl wait till later.

The SB in itself is actually a very cool piece and I am glad they included it on the sprue. Considering how cheap WG with a SB are going to be, it will be a well sought after piece. With that said I wanted to include it within the pack and the best guy to carry it would be of course the PF toting WG.

I would invision the pack being put in a DP. There are 8 Grey Hunters 1 PW 1 PG 1 PP 5 with Bolters, 1 WG w SB/PF 1 HQ w TH/SS.

They would have been better off putting a plastic combi weapon in there or better still 3! Also i like the sprue but i'd like some tank icons like the DA get. Saying that i'm just glad we didnt get a dex like the DA <_<

great work going on here!!

cool to see the new plastics ahead of the release date!

2 questions: how much fun are you having building these up??

and anychance of building a claw up with one of the mega-mohawk heads on??

thanks

2 questions: how much fun are you having building these up??

Having a blast myself, stayed up till 4am in the morning and woke up sick the next day because of lack of sleep. The pieces have alot of detail in them that will be rewarding for some of you crazy painters out there, all in all I am very impressed with the sprue and think they did a pretty good job. Wish they would have put a melta gun on the sprue as well as a couple right handed power weapon options. A right handed Power Fist would have been awsome as we have plenty of left handed fists out there.

and anychance of building a claw up with one of the mega-mohawk heads on??

I am out of legs and I am building a Grey Hunter pack, but I will see what I can do for ya.

Im sort of a traditionalist. I like my GHs to be cradling their bolters in both hands.

In the NEW kit, is their enough paired arms to do this?

Or the kit is now made for a mix of two handed and one handed holds?

Marek,

You might want to stock up on the old Grey Hunter box, because there are only two sets of arms that will allow the cradling stance.

The two Plasma Guns have dedicated sets of arms that will only allow the cradling stance.

I burn with envy. I also burn with RAGE, for I cannot view your pics from work b/c of our stupid Internet filters!!!

I'll check them out tonight, though. I really want to see the process on these new parts.

Yeah, again with statements of envy. ::sigh:: less than a month...

I'm having so much fun i cant stop either, i canibalised 10 partially built old blood claws with the intenion of using new parts to spruce them up.

In fact here is one i made a sky claw!

The running legs look good on these, i guess the legs are a bit static. can you still order the running leg sprue?

WG Vrox is right a RH PF would have been good, but also the axe and sword have limited poses and conversions will be in order.

The plasma gun arms are a bit odd as well, i'll be using normal PG's for my 2nd box.

As I will be using this squad in a full 10 man GH pack, so I used some extra pieces to make a 2nd PG and the requested Blood Claw. I used the craziest head I could find and decided to think of him as a victim of a plasma overheat, I guess this still has not taught him to wear a helmet. crazy pups can't tell them anything.
