Iron-Daemon Forge
ELG Counter Attack Tournament report by Insane Psychopath This is where we hold them! This is where we fight! This is where they DIE!!!!!!!!!! Hi everone Well first all welcome to my tournament report where I will go through a tournament by ELG that just came back from, today. Now first all, those who have not seen my tournament reports. I have a simple request from people. I do NOT wish to hear anything negative comments toward the type of army list use by me or other players. Like wise I don't want to hear moan about tournaments. I enjoy tournaments & find them a laught, I do these report to show people they are a good laught & a great experince to meet new people & play armies you not fought in agies or rarely use that the local gaming area you may go to. My own belive is, as long as it is by the codex or rule book I am more than happy to battle it or use it in my own army, I only judge the oppent as to ether a good laught toward a game or if someone cheat/be a git. I do those report to look back as well as show what a cool day I have had overall ;) Right so now that over, back to the report that hand. I just return after a great day in Edinbrugh taken part in the ELG (Edinbrugh wargaming club) tournament know as Counter Attack. I have been to three ELG tournaments last year & alway enjoy them & have had mix result in all of them but even though the high & low of the gamings, I have had nothing but great games & it remind me why I enjoy this hobby so much & why I like going to tournaments :D ELG Counter attack was 1750pts, if it was by the codex/rule it could be use, armies got 20pts for being painted & it was a all or nothing eg: three colour other wise you did not get the points. Three games useing the mission from the Rule book with 10/10 for a draw, 20/0 for a win. But each & ever tournament you alway do worry with things like "Who will I be battle" "what armies" "what army will I suffer against" "did I rememeber to paint that last model", etc.... But good thing with the ELG is I know a few people having being to there past events & also being a part timer last year for Games Workshop Edinbrugh. Like wise I though I would never see these two thing together in my life, wake up that 6.30am on a Sat moring....never knew there was such a think as a 6.30am in a moring  This was due to trains line from Glasgow to Edinbrugh being work on & result in what ment to be 40 min train trip into a one hour & 20 mins :) Before I forget apart from the above, my report are just quick bullet point about the event because there no way I can rememeber the tuen by turn & like wise I think if better having photos So first thing first the army list HQ: Warsmith Abhorred Riddick (Daemon Prince), Wings, Warp Time - 155 Elites Squad 7: Tormentia, 4x Termies arm with Power Weapon & combi Plasma - 140 Squad 8: Proeliator 4x Termies arm with Power Weapon & Combi Plasma - 140 Troops Squad 1: Iupatus Proeliator 9 Chaos Space Marines, Plasma Gun, Autocannon, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 215 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 Squad 2: Be Graphicus 9 Chaos Space Marines, Plasma Gun, Autocannon, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 215 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 Squad 3: Apocalypse 9 Chaos Space Marines, Melta Gun, Autocannon, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 210 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 Heavy Support: Squad 5: Excessus Fillius 3 Oblits - 225 Squad 4: Oburo 2 Oblit - 150 Squad 6: Hydra Infensus 2 Oblit - 150 Total - 1750pts. After arriven to ELG club & everone had settle in & handed in there copy of a army list as well as sign in. We where told for the first round we could pick our oppents. So Round One Games 1: Remember this day, men, for it will be yours for all time Army - Eldar Mission, Kill point, Pitch battle Out come: Win to me 5 KP to 4 KP Army list: Unit of Scorp, Unit of Banshies, unit of Guardiens, Dire Avenger with Wave Serpnt, 2 Vyper, unit of Shining Spear's, Prince Yriel, Farseer with Doom & re-roll save, Falcon While people where picking there oppents for the first round, Stuart came up & ask if I wanted a game. After seen his Eldar army taken out I got to say I really like his army with the way he painted the White. Over all this was a very close game on all acount. It was also great to battle Prince Yriel as I hear a lot of story from fellow tournament player about the commander. Got to say the S9 eye weapon he has caught me off guard but same time it has taught me about him & how good he is. From what I can rememeber. Stuart kept his Eldar in reserve this is so he could see where the oppent was going & it would then allow him to pick his fight. One bit of bad luck would be when his Scorpian's came on the wrong flank, however they did see close combat when I charge them with a 10 man chaos squad supported by my Daemon Prince, on top of this due to wound allaction (sp?) he loss his Power Fist squad commander before he had a chance to strike back. While else where on the battle feild saw Stuart Vyper blow up by my Obliterators, the Falcon getting imobiles but due to wargear it just landed & return fire to my Obliterators killing a few. While on my right flank saw a big sea of Metalic & white clashing in one big Close Combat from Prince Yriel useing his Eye weapon taken down 8 of the 9 chaos space marine left in Unit No3, which saw the champion wound this might Eldar hero twice....but for all this might, it was to much for the lone Champion as he failed his Ld & got slaughter by Yriel. While that happen, there was a assault from the Banshies as they went to take on my Terminators who had just been DOOM by the Farseer. Luck only two of mine got Killed & ment my Terminators return & slaughter a few of there number & the following turn seen some remain of Unit No1 counter attack into the banshies. Overall the game ended on turn 5 with me with 5 kill points vs 4 kill point that the Eldar had got. If this had went on for another turn, the out come would be very diffrent as the Eldar would have slaughter my whole right flank, but like wise I would have slaughter all those Eldar on my left flank. But overall I really enjoy this game. To make thing even more intresting, when working out VPts it turn out we where both a mere 20pts diffrence which is alway cool. So here the photos http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05510.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05511.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05512.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05513.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05514.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05516.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05517.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05520.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05521.jpg I have alway wounder what true line of sight really is like....from a Obliterator point of view :P http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05522.jpg Let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the FLOOR!!! http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05523.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05524.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05525.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05526.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05528.jpg My dice rolls http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05530.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05533.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05534.jpg Round 2 next Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/ Share on other sites
Iron-Daemon Forge
Game 2: Ready your breakfast and eat hearty, for tonight we dine in Hell! Army Tau Army list: 10 Battle suits, two suit with rain gun, 40 Fire Warriors, two hammer heads, two unit of six drone Mission: Home & away, Dawn of War Out come: Loss After some launch (great food that the ELG tournament) & vote for armies for the painting award. Round two was drawn up & I found out that I will be battle Nick. Those who may rememeber these Red tau, I fought them before that ELG Conpulsion event. Like then, this battle was great laught & really enjoy it, but did not focuse as much as I was starting to feel a bit unwell with my stomach & no idea why. But again it was a great game vs Nick & it great battle Tau. I not seen that many Tau armies where I play & I really do have lack of experince. Turn one saw my Rhino for Unit No1 being blown up sky high with a few loss from the squad them self. While my turn one saw a solid wall of Rhinos & Obliterators, but with it being Dawn of War....it was very dark. Though out the game my Rhinos came under bombarment from Tau Pule Rifles or my Obliterators with Rail Guns. So being that I could not advance forward with my attack stop in the track sort of speak. I chose to make a last stand & aim for a draw by hold my Object. But this was not to be the case when you have 10 Battle suits & Drone all come down on same turn by Deep Strike. Though there was one bit of building that did cause a fair amount of wounds to those Battle suits :D But overall my Obliterators & my Chaos Marines could only make armour save for so long until the army was cut down to Five Chaos Marines. The Daemon Prince also could not last long with his save & like wise my Terminators felt the full wrath of the Battle suit & Hammer Heads. Also it was fun having a gun down with my last Obliterator vs his Battle suit with rail guns which you will see in the photos below I loss with Nick holding a Object & Contesting mine with two unit of Suit & a unit of Drone. I enjoy the game even though I got slaughter more so than before (when I fought Nick that Conpulsion) & overall it has help me a bit more to understand Tau, so now I need to try & get people collect Tau so I can get as much experince as I have with say Orks http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05593.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05594.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05596.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05598.jpg Whoo where did they come from  :) http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05600.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05602.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05603.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05604.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05605.jpg "There can be only one," http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05606.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05608.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05609.jpg So after being slaughter to a mere five chaos marine the game was ended on turn 6 & Nick had truly won. So after a little break it was time to get ready for the finial battle. Iron-Daemon Forge
Games 3: Charge of the Russ, This is where we fight! This is where they DIE!!!!!!!!!! Army: Imperial Guards Army list: Platoon one where the squads (three of them) where arm with Autocannons, Platoon two where squads (three again) arm with Lascannon, command/HQ with three Plasma Guns & three unit of Two Leman Russ so that six in total Mission: d3+2 counter (5) & cleanse set up. Out come win to me My Imperial Guard oppent was Adam, thank again for the game. As said was good game  Second, for the first time I have attended a tournament where I am not battle a single power armour army as it where :) Just the un-wirten law for me in a tournament is, I will battle that least one Imperial Marine force, Eldar &/or Tau. But it was a nice suprise & it is good battle Guards as I belive since 5th Ed came out I have only fought Guards a total of five time, barely getting any time to use my own force of Guards. As to the game. I was able to set up first & go first. Know that I would be battle six of the best tanks, I though it would be safer & mean one less round of fire if I went first. I did my usely tactic of going forward with the Rhinos into a good spot so the Terminators on turn two could Deep Strike down & get close for those combi Plasma, while been supputed by Obliterators. Now having a plan all well & good, but the No1 rule is....no plan stay in tack. My Obliterators truely could not take down these might tanks of the Imperial, they where ether save by nice cover or my Lascannon just chip there paint as it where. Other part where when one of my Terminator units mange to attack the (my) left flank slaughter two squads but had loss three Terminators in the combat. While the last/lone Terminator was deal with those finial Guard trooper before being blasted by another unit. In the end I mange to just pull a win by holding two out of the five Object. While the Guards had one. I belive if this has went onto turn 6 &/or 7 I would have been slaughter of my troops chose. In the end I had somthing like 390 Vpts, while the Guards had 1008Vpts from my army. But came down to Object. Was a good game & it was good battle the new Imperial Guard. Like wise the use of the Leman Russ is great experince as I can exspect to see a fair few of thse in the Grand Tournament down in Nottingham. Here photos of the game. Set up http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05610.jpg First turn, hug the cover http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05611.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05612.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05613.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05615.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05616.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05617.jpg The Terminator makeing short work before being blasted by fire power http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05618.jpg Terminator assault a Leman Russ http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05619.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05620.jpg Hide from the Leman Russ http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05622.jpg My Rhino had a unit of 10 Chaos Marines inside http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05623.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05624.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05626.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05627.jpg http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05628.jpg Again was great battle Guards & I really enjoy the challenge. Also as said it was VERY luck that the game ended on turn 5 & I had two Object other wise turn six would have seen less Iron Warriors troopers. Overall: Overall I really enjoy this event & it is why I like attending tournament. I like to win but same time I also like to have a laught & I will add in I also like to learn from my games so I can improve & put up a better challenge for future games. I had three great oppents who I would happily give a re-match & enjoy battle there armies. The event overall went well. As for result, I do not have those detail so far I should hopeful be on 4th place or around that area as my last game was on table four (table 5 first round, 3 second, 4th last round), but Vpts are look dodgy for me. But the overall winner was James with Chaos Space Marines. While best painted army/the people chose army was me :D http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/Insane-Psychopath/ELG%20Counter%20attack/DSC05629.jpg I am very happy as the past few year I have been working hard on my IW improve them to get a painting/army award :P Now it has all paid off, more so when my own wargaming club in Stirling, I was out voted by ONE vote toward the GW Manger Donzo from Falkirk. As to why I use what I use. Here a copy & peaste from the UKGT topic, while below the quote of this will be a little update Also as said why I pick stuff I did (already said in GT topic but just let people see it here as well). Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company HQ Warsmith Abhorred Riddick (Daemon Prince), Wings - 130 - The Daemon Prince is just a really cool model first & formost. Background wise with the model being my warsmith it a big bit as well as said vs Blood Angels. Also unit wise a Daemon Prince... though can not get some great upgread's as they use to in 3.5 days, they are more survible since they can no longer be killed by S10 Weapons, also there cheaper to be honsty. In my Army the Daemon Prince one & only role is of course close combat & he the rock hard combat unit in my army with a might WS7 will pretty much slap anything he fight with a might S6 following. I not went for any marks because where IW's & I want to stick to the background. While Psychic powers, to be honsty though Lash is good I just find it over rated & rather have more gun's while other power... again IW & my Warsmith background wise has never been a psychicer. Also I want to prove it in games as well See the mortal version of Warsmith Abhorred Riddick here back in my 2001-2002 army for my first tournament Conflict Scotland http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...=151373&hl= Elites Squad 7: Tormentia, 4x Termies arm with Power Weapon & combi Plasma - 140 Squad 8: Proeliator 4x Termies arm with Power Weapon & Combi Plasma - 140 - Well apart from the Daemon Prince, when I pick armies I like my unit to have a min of two roles in the army, as you will see most it shooting as well as dealing great in combat (depend what there against of course). With the Termies was another "I like the models & cool conversion". Also with Combi Plasma there great & cheap. On a unit of Termies who will ALWAY Deep Strike useing the Icon's best thing to ever have Icon Glory (if your going for God mark for normal Marines better just getting the cult unit them self), pick out small elite units/Monster or tanks (since I only have 4x Oblit & my Chaos Marines are usely in combat 95% of the time). The turn after Deep Striken, ether counter attack what ever my 10 man Chaos squad hold up, or go after small elite units with (if there still full strength of course) 12 Power Weapon attacks. Also have a nice 2+ save alway great. Troops Squad 1: Iupatus Proeliator 9 Chaos Space Marines, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 215 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 Squad 2: Be Graphicus 9 Chaos Space Marines, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 215 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 Squad 3: Apocalypse 9 Chaos Space Marines, Melta Gun, Heavy Bolter, Icon of Glory Champ, Power Weapon - 215 Rhino, Extra armour - 50 - 5th Ed as well all know is about troops. I found my three unit to do alright, did try adding a 5 man squad but took away so much needed punch in theforce & was going to try a unit Bezerker for this event but again it just took away part that where really needed. In general as said I like my unit for a few role. Nothing more nicer (IMO) than seeing a squad of 10 Chaos just boltering a squad to death. Heavy Bolter there to make use of the Rhino Hatch in the even I face Hordes or when holding a object, also plastic devastators HB just look cool on chaos marines. Rhino's, again with the release of 5th Ed tanks have became a little better (though I still not a fan of the defence weapon being S4 now ) they keep my troop safe (well unless there blow up of course) & mean when I reach the enemies line I can pretty puch punch grab them by the nose & punch there teeth in with mass bolter, follow by 10 marine charging in as don't underestamate (sp) normal close combat attacks. But yes Rhinos are also there for blocking true line of sight as well in the event stuff dose not go to plan or when I am holding the object as last thing you want is your unit wipe out. I did not go for any cult unit (though as said above I have Bezerker painted up). Just again it Iron Warriors, sure I can use count as & there fearless... but just again want to prove that basic Chaos Marines do great as well. Heavy Support: Squad 5: Excessus Fillius 2 Oblits - 150 Squad 4: Oburo 1 Oblit - 75 Squad 6: Hydra Infensus 1 Oblit - 75 - Obliterators... it Iron Warriors, it why I started them. My friend who use to work for GW that the time back when Chaos Marine just came out for 3rd Ed made a really cool Thasound Son force with Obliterators for support. The conversion where really great & so I copy his idea but with my own changies of course. Index Astarties came out & I just really like the Iron Warriors background (since it was a bit more detail), I like the new art work & the image it give of Iron Warriors, seen about they where allow more Obliterators (back when they use to be rubbish game wise). Anyway.... Obliterators role is to alway set up hiden behind the Rhino until my first turn, there my only long range fire power in the army with the aim to deal with tanks & small elite units. There cheaper than Havocs, most all they can move & fire which it a lot better with the Dawn of War set up. Also with a nice power fist there able to handly it out in close combat. I will alway have Obliterators in my army. In general when I was making my Iron Warriors, I am not a fan of stastic armies as I find them boring to use. For me my style of warfare has been Mobilty & I like to play aggressive with my armies alway have them in your face grab you by the nose & punch you teeth in (not really toward people, just mean this as the style of my gaming) as again I hate hideing the whole games & then just grab the Object last min with out doing anything to the oppent army, just not in me. As you seen in my Iron Warriors force everthing can move & shoot you up, following with a mass assault with a might 30 Chaos Space Marines, 8 Termies, a Daemon Prince with Obliterators slow getting there giveing covering fire. As you see from my photos & from other report my Iron Warriors rarely stay still. I may not be the world greatiest gamer, but ever oppent I fight have said my games have been challegeing & if they win then it been pretty hard work. With 5th Ed I really have found it add onto this & really dose make you think a lot more, as after the tournament (listed below) everone I talk to all feel there mind just going on shut down after the event which is good as you want to feel challenge in games, you never want a easy game. The main thing is after each game, you learnt from them & I feel from 5th Ed I really am learning a lot more which is great as it alway give you though for the brain & nothing worst than learning nothing from a game. As GT 2006 show, when I went to my old local GW the gamer there where not the best, I would learn nothing new, got to GT 2006 & make so many mistake & was worst GT for me in term of games. But 2007 to now I am learning new things which is important & alway good for both myself & my oppent making the game more challegeing. When I pick a army as said I make sure there able to do a min of two role as I am not much of a fan (apart from Daemon Prince) of taken units that are limited to one role. I pick my army as long as it by the codex/rules, like wise I am more than happy to fight any army that it by the codex/rule book as ever army offer a challenge & come down to the player useing them as well it only if the oppent a git I would not fight them. I have not found any weakness in my army, just come down to ether being out object, out played, etc... I dout I will change my army as said above I try a 5 man squad by dropping 2x Termies & a Heavy Bolter Marine but just did not feel right & those two Extra Termies & Heavy Bolter really did make the change/help I needed while play testing. While Bezerker I try them out... I will keep them for 1750pts but in 1500pts as said I want unit that can handly a min of two role's & just Icon's really work well in the event I need to keep one unit back to hold a home Object. As said 5th Ed really has became less predictable. Hope this make sence - Autocannon, as you will see I change my Heavy Bolter to Autocannon. To be honsty I never knew Autocannon where the same point cost as a Heavy Bolter. I though everthing went up by a extra few point. So see Autocannon where the same, quick swap them as this year tournament session will see a lot of mech armies from Vendetta Guards, Mech Eldar, Mech Tau. Overall in the tournament they done well. For the 1750pts tournament More Obliterators Orignaly I was going to have a unit of Khorne Bezerker but to be honsty they just did not click with the army. While looking back & having the models. All I can say is I will alway use Obliterators & if there was more point then yes I would have 9. Right tool's for the right job. Never regreat taken them. Warp Time on Daemon Prince Though I said I would not take psychic power, I could alway say it "count as" spike bits from the 3.5 codex days. But to be honsty more I had the pts to spare & I tend to like my armies to be on the dot in term of point limits. Like wise it is a Iron Warrior army so I will not take cult unit's no matter what as it dose not fit with out background & like wise I will never take any other chaos god power. That & thing like Lash I found are over rated to be honsty & it would not work on it own. But for this tournament overall, my plan has alway been to use the bulk (1500pts) base upon my Grand Tournament list that has rarely change over the past year. Then add on 250pts worth of stuff. IP Edit: photos of the tournament can be seen here http://s626.photobucket.com/albums/tt347/I...tack/?start=all Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/#findComment-2109188 Share on other sites
Darkangeldentist
Nice report, great photos and congratulations on best army. Yriel's blast is S6 if my memory's correct but by the sounds of it that wouldn't have changed much. It's a devastating one-shot and his regular attacks with that singing spear are deadly enough. (One question, did he survive the game and if so did your opponent remember his curse?) The Russ brigade sounds like it was scary to face off against. Have you considered a chainfist or powerfist on your terminators? Just the one so they can crack armour if it's around. Again well done and congratulations. Corpse.
Congrats of the results. You did well, though that tau force would have fallen apart if you got the assault asap - condemning sticking back and staying as a group. But it turned out alright in the end, good job. Iron-Daemon Forge
Sorry my tiredness, as said woke up that 6.30am. The Blast is S6 & there was 9 of my chaos marine under the temp. For the Terminators I sadly do not have the pts to spare. Was hope combi plasma would have got the side armour of the Russ, but it was not to be as they are one of the best tank around Being name after a famour person in the Imperial History & all (to wind you up being a Dark Angels player Darkangeldentist :wallbash: ) But all armies again where great & for the forth coming Grand Tournament they are brilliaint practise games. I have learnt a lot from today games. Corpse. Posted Today, 11:09 PM Congrats of the results. You did well, though that tau force would have fallen apart if you got the assault asap - condemning sticking back and staying as a group. But it turned out alright in the end, good job. Yep was trying to keep the together but it was not to be But again great game & also because I rarely battle Tau it dose keep me on my feet as it where. Just wish more people around my local gaming area played Tau, Dark Eldar.... as right now it been Orks & Marines for a year solid with the odd army here & there. Fought fellow chaos marine army two week ago & before that it was Conpulsion tournament ELG do back in March. Also got result back, came 4th over all with 1722 Vpts with a total of 60 point (2x 20 for the games & 20 for painting). I enjoy today & it give me a lot to thinking about & try to improve. As for me I enjoy learing from games, challenge myself, push further...much like the painting side So yes happy overall. Nothing better than a great tournament, can't wait for the GT now as this has been a moral boost. Lash Machine
Well done on the report. Shame I could not be there but got a 2 day 1750 event coming up in October before heat 3. I was looking at your list and wondered if you had considered possibly dropping the extra armour on the Rhinos and maybe putting a power fist in each terminator squad and even giving the Daemon Prince mark of Nurgle. The T6 would work with the theme and make him more survivable to small arms fire. Good luck in heat 1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/#findComment-2109680 Share on other sites

If so I take it this is the Mayhem tournament down in London (good luck) Extra Armour for the Rhino was needed through out this tournament :P It help my Rhino move back while not being able to fire, it help block of area for true line of sight. Though not many people like the price hike of Extra armour, I feel it needed for my army to get into assault. Once those Rhino are stop, it stop my attack :tu: IP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/#findComment-2109740 Share on other sites
Burias-Drak'shal
Great looking army! Have you thought about powerfists on CSM champions, as they could get bogged down against dreads etc. Iknow your lacking points wise, but I think this would help if you could fit them in. Good luck in the next tournament Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/#findComment-2109832 Share on other sites
Monk Fish
The Russ brigade sounds like it was scary to face off against. Have you considered a chainfist or powerfist on your terminators? Just the one so they can crack armour if it's around. As you alwas hit the back (unless Death or Glory), normal Powerfists (S8) are fine for most IG vehilces, as there armor 10 or at best 11 on the rear. Needless to say, Landraiders are a pain, but I suspect Melta, Lascannons & Railguns put people off fielding to many of them, and Chain Fists don't do anything more to Necron Ob's anyway. -MF NB: if 7 Oblitorators and a MC can not fix a few dreads its a bad day in the armoury. NNB: Insane, was the Tau force based on O'Shava? (ie Dawn Blade) because it looks like you had multiple troops with in assault range in a few of your pictures? Iron-Daemon Forge
Insane, was the Tau force based on O'Shava? (ie Dawn Blade) because it looks like you had multiple troops with in assault range in a few of your pictures? I can't rememeber to be honsty, my knolwege on Tau is very limited (along with Dark Eldar). As to the trooper in assault range....I ether was pin from there Rhino blow up or I chose to go to ground with the amount of Plasma, all I could rememeber was that the unit close to the battle suits where not able to move or they where out of assault range as photo where taken during oppent movment phase so they also still had there jump pack in the assault phase. The details are a little faded :( Also a few people ask by e-mail & PM about the Heavy weapon & Rhino. Rememeber we can use Rhino hatch when needed. Also in object games (ELG Rompa stompa battle report was a fine exsample) where the oppent army maybe to far out for the like of specil weapon or assault. Monk Fish you will rememeber when I fought your Tau two month ago?? when I Autocannon that fire warrior unit of a object as my Rhino was immobiles ;) Alway work for me & that the main thing, in most game I will not use my Heavy Weapon but as said in the overall why I pick stuff, it there in case I am to far out, or in this tournament round 2 saw a few Rhinos destroyed & so while in cover ment I could get a few Autocannon shot off, etc... it more a "what if" & never regreat spend the pts. But as to the list, I will not be add Power Fist, this is due to I like the way my list has work over the year & down to paint as I am limited on GW Ink. Also on a personial note don't wish this to turn into a change a list topic, it what the army list area is for ;) Just have to adept to the newer armies like the Air Born Guards & the new Wolves :D Want to keep this on the tournament report ;) Thanks IP Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178383-elg-counter-attack-tournament-report/#findComment-2111645 Share on other sites
Sholto
Great report! You certainly took more photos than I remembered too ;) I put my own report of the tournament up on my blog. BTW - the other Tau army was not Farsight. Just a regular commander and gunline, with maxed out Crisis Suits in the elite slots. Iron-Daemon Forge
Sholto: Do you have any other photos from the event. Also see you that Stirling wargaming club Rapid Fire tournament on the 31st Oct. Also keep a eye out as ELG usely have another event in Nov, as said just to met new people & get games vs armies not seen much off. Still suprise I never fought a single Marine player that the event as well ;) But again was a great event overall, three good player who i'd happy battle again. Sholto
Other than pics of the individual armies, I didn't take any more photos. Kind of got caught up in the games, and I am not a fast player at the best of times either. See you at Rapid Fire.
