Levitas
Spent enough time with the dex and various sites to cobble together a very rough 1500. I favor fast and mobile lists, so I tend to avoid dreads and footsloggers. Also not a huge fan of special characters except for the odd game as I like to write my own fluff and the like. HQ Wolf lord Jump pack, frost blade (str5), belt of russ (4+ inv), eternal warrior (saga) Wolf priest jump pack, possible p.fist Rune priest Will ride in rhino with GH and play pop n zap from the hatch. TROOP Greyhunter 1 (rhino) 10 with 2 meltaguns (main forward objective takers) pack member with power axe Greyhunter 2 (rhino/hvy bolter razor) (115) 5 basic (home objective babysitters) Greyhunter 3 (rhino) (175-ish) 7 with 1 meltaguns (main forward objective takers) pack member with powerfist possibly FAST Skyclaws (jumpers) (10 total) - wolf lord and wolf priest with these Pack member with p.fist 2 x typhoon HVY Dakka pred (70 points to buff up units and hqs) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178400-new-wolves-rough-list-any-thoughts/ Share on other sites
Night Runner
Hi, seems like a balanced army. Out of curiosity, what proportion of the 1500pts did your HQs take up approx. Forseti
3 HQs at 1500 and 2 of them in same unit seems a bit much, they'll definitely attract a lot of fire. HQ would probably be around the 400-430pt mark? liquidbiue
Looks pretty good. Grey hunters are excellent now, and skyclaws got SO MUCH better. The Wolf Lord with that loadout is 175. Rune Priest is 100. Wolf priest is 125 and cannot take a power fist. Night Runner
That's nearly a third! Maybe I would have gone with 2 HQs or replaced one of the priests with a cheaper WGBL. Forseti has a good point about 2 HQs in one unit but I guess it depends on your strategy and the mission at hand. Good luck with it. Levitas
The wolf priest is one that I could do without. I want the skyclaws to hit hard and not run, any other ideas to achieve that? Plus the WP brings an extra PW and inv save to take the odd plasma hit. But I do agree, I dont usually run 3 HQs in a 1500. Usually only one! But the rune priest at 100 is a bargain for what he brings, and the lord is a must for the damage he'll cause. Maybe WG is a better option... Tanon
I'd suggest throwing meltabombs on the WL if you want to be able to kill heavy armor in CC. Or, you could give one of the Skyclaws a meltagun, though you'd lose an attack in CC. Redundancy is a good thing. But a BS3 meltagun might not be that hot (!) mmm, decisions. Any ideas on how much a WGBL weighs in with a jump pack and fist? cheaper than a wolf priest? Tanon
5 points cheaper than a WP w/ JP, though the WGBL doesn't have a inv save or the other special rules. Not worth it imo.
