Daemon/Witch hunters special characters

If C:SM and C:IG (and rumors about C:SW) have shown us anything, its that special characters are coming in force, even as upgrades for squads. While some armies may have trouble with this (Nids), i feel that Daemonhunters and Witchhunters are perfectly suited for this. What do you expect/want, assuming GW keeps with this trend? listed below are positions that are not covered.

Inquisitor (both puritan AND radical)

Justicar

Brother Captain (of Elites "terminator sgt" variety)

Grand Master

IST Sgt

Daemonhost?

 

Maybe the justicar/brother captain does something with deepstrike (godly intervention: shoot and assault, reroll scatter), the other has unique psycher powers. Grandmaster could have some cool equipment and a special rule turning him and his retinue into a scoring unit (since it IS part of their doctrine). Radical Inquisitor could have a daemon weapon and a random effect device (with things like energy vortexes, summon lesser daemons, negative leadership to enemies).

Priest could have a special eviscerator with the 1 shot flamer (can't remember the name), seriphim superior could have something like rending pistols, mistress might have a rule about striking at initiative on the charge. just throwing ideas out there

Alaric might be cool, but would need to be a pretty badass character (considering what he has done and gone through) and could open up some interesting rules (fallout from after "Hammer of Daemons")

 

Also, rules for Brother Captain Aurellian would be amazing (new super character?)

It would be nice to have a war of faith type of character and maybe a version of sm chapter master [a canonnes not of a covent , but of a whole sector or maybe even a whole order].

 

I would make the first more footslogger friendlly . all bolters turn to assault weapons , but halvs the range of the weapon . so bolters ware 12" hvy bolters are 18" .no non sob units in the army , not even priests . repentia have to be taken and in kill point missions work like SW lone wolfs [give points to enemy if not killed] .

 

the uber canones would make celestian scoring and would probablly have some sort of a honor guard as option and the option to add or remove a dice once per turn for faith rolls.

Also, rules for Brother Captain Aurellian would be amazing (new super character?)

Play out Frank Miller's 300 - in cinematic Grey Knights style.

A Justicar who gives his unit Frag and Krak grenades. Who you can actually take multiple times. Wait..... whut?

 

I'd actually trade in any and all special characters in the book for a Ceramite Armour upgrade that works like Living Metal. Please, thanks.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Eisenhorn. They got to do Eisenhorn. He could have a statline of like:

Barbarisater- An ancient Carthaen blade which has been strengthened with hexagrammic wards and defeated the Daemon Sword Kharnager. It acts like a force weapon which also gives Eisenhorn +1 WS and +1 I which has been included in his profile.

 

I am not sure what I would do for the force staff since I would tie that in with psyker powers.

GK special characters are probably going to be a new level of overpowered; the current GKGM is still a very powerful HQ despite having to endure two generations of codex creep.

 

As for what kind of special characters we're likely to see, IIRC the new DH and WH codices are supposedly going to focus much more on the Chambers Militant than the current ones (Makes sense when pure SoB/GK is the most popular build) so I expect most of the special characters will be Chamber troops. I expect we wouldn't have more than a couple Inquisitor characters, and probably not much else from the rest of the non-Chamber list.

 

Eisenhorn isn't likely to turn up in the new codices; first off he's Ordo Xenos and there have been no hints of Codex: Alienhunters in the works. Also, GW seems to be shying away from including prominent Black Library characters in the current codices; the new Guard Codex removed Gaunt and Schaeffer as special characters.

 

By the way, this reminds me that I tossed up my special DH Inquisitor a while back on the Homegrown Rules forum (if anyone's curious).

* Celestians having power weapons to make them the close combat specialists there meant to be.

* Repentias to be cheaper in points, maybe allowed to "run" and charge into assualt.

* Excorsists to either be upgraded in Str so we can damage Str 14 armour.

* New vehicle to allow wider range of anti armour.

* Ephrael Stern special character

* Helena the Virtuous special character to come back.

* WH Inquisitors to take Terminator armour.

* Cannoness to allow to request Orbital bombardment from IMP Navy.

* A few more options for different "Faith"

* Redeemers to be brought out as a standard transport model

* Finally a complete new Damn range of PLASTIC miniatures.

 

OR with true wishful thinking allow a Super heavy varient of the Baneblade (though i alredy converted of those) for the Adeptus Sororitus.

Definitely a character for radical/puritan DH. Army traits that really flesh out he puritan/radical options. i.e. more options for grey knights and squad types vehicle options inline with the marine codex.

Or more daemonic army: increased host allowance and a varying class of daemon host: Elite, Troops (lost and the damned/possessed guard?) and Heavy support: Giant bound spawn maybe. Incorporate the relictors into this codex PLEASE!!!!

 

For the WH bring back redemptionists!!!! If lead by a redemptionist priest limit SOB options and no inducted forces?? and If lead by a Puritan increase SOB benefits MORE faith points etc.

Again, I mildly resent my name being attached to the project. Reclusiarch Darius was the one who started it last summer, after all. However, I suppose that between Aidoneus' threads, Heru Talon's project and so on, there is no other useful means of identification.

 

The more people join this, the faster it will move. Not necessarily faster than I can read and respond, of course.

 

Also please remember that even though things have been written, it does not mean that things are fixed and immutable.

We have things such as a new Aegis rule, a small pile of Grey Knights powers, some Deathwatch troops and Land Speeders, but we can get rid of everything. We can toss out the Psychic Pool rule, change the Grey Knights powers, tweak the Deathwatch troops and expand the Deathwatch vehicle list, bump the Grey Knight Terminator statline back down, switch Grey Knight jet bikes for Grey Knight jump troops.

 

In fact, everything Witch Hunters and Sisters is completely up in the air - you can almost ignore the material that is already in the thread. We apparently want to rewrite Faith and then do everything over from the bottom up. We had a pile of Sisters threads and now we can't really touch them because Toogeloo mentioned a possible conflict with the Faith system and we still haven't figured out where to take Faith.

 

 

SoulReaver296 just asked for a Grey Knight Named Character thread. Anyone who wants Mandulis or Aurellian, go throw things at it.

Ephrael Stern and Helena the Virtuous (and by extension Confessor Kryinov and Missionary Uriah Jacobus) need to wait for the rest of the Sisters to be redone, but we'll get there.

Chengar is helping us redo Inquisitors in a way that should give us flavour and flexibility amid uniformity. We'll get to Eisenhorn and Quixos when that's done.

Good grief. The list to-do just keeps growing.
