You won't see a lot of me directly here, but I figured I'd let you in on why a Chaos player is perusing the SW forums. B)

Basically, I could care less about Space Wolves as a Chapter. What is relevant to my interests is corrupting your gorgeous new Codex into a World Eaters one, a proper tribute to Angron's Legion and to Khorne, something the current CSM Codex is sorely lacking in, as evidenced by the terrible track record of Khorne armies in every aspect of the game. The SW Codex returns to the World Eaters several sorely-missed aspects that fall into traditional Khorne fluff, like anti-psyker abilities, Flesh Hounds, and Juggernauts. It gives the Blood God a more multifaceted approach akin to a god of martial prowess and not the one-trick pony the CSM Codex shoehorns Khorne into. In essence, simply remove Rune Priests, Razorbacks, and Land Speeders, and you'd might as well have Codex: World Eaters buried in your shiny new Codex, something I am more than happy to be taking advantage of.

Celebrate the Wolftime, "cousins"; the time of Angron and the XII Legion arises with you. :P

Hi Guys, New to SW but been playing 40k for a while, after playing Eldar for a while i decided on a change.

i have not abandoned my Eldar but wanted a different race to play.

after seeing that the SW had a new Dex coming out i decided to give them a read, and what i found i like very much.

i love the fluff of the SW and i like assaulting so with the BC and Ragnar to accompany them i though i was in heaven.

with a few lists drawn up i am in the test and see what is good together and reading the forum to get inspiration.

every one have an ale on me :)

Hola chaps!

Im new to actually playing any sort of mini game, however I have been known to do a bit of converting and tinkering for friends and other players.

Ordered 2 boxes (1x WP 1x WG Term) from Wayland - should be here soon.

Im planning a mass DogHouse Pattern True-Scale Gothic Space Wolves conversion - have about 24 WHFB Chaos Warrior bodies which I will start trimming and sculpting / converting (just the boots), also have about 10 or 15 WHFB Chaos Knight legs (for thunderwolf cavalry and possibly for dynamic sky-claws aka AirWolves) which will also need the full boot sculpt / conversion.

Initially im planning on a Rune & Wolf Priest led army (under 1000pts at present):

HQ

Rune Priest (150pts)

Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Runic Weapon, Wolftooth necklace, CotS, SotB, JotWW, FotWS or LL

Fast Attack

1x Wolf Priest (155pts)

Runic Armor, Jump pack, Crozium, Wolftooth necklace, SotBS

5x SkyClaws (130pts)

1x melta or flamer, 1x powersword, 1x MotW

Troops

2 squads of:

1x WG (48pts)

Terminator Armor, Combi-Melta/Flamer, Wolf Claw / Frost weapon,

9x GH (180 /190pts)

1x melta or flamer, 1x powersword, 1x Wolf Standard, 1x MotW (or +10pts for the PF)

- perhaps the extra 35pts for the rhino.

I will be fighting mostly nids, hundreds of thousands of crunchy little bugs, so may go the max flamer route!

Thats the initial plan anyway.

Cheers

Hail, fellow Sons Of Fenris!

Tired of moving hundreds of greenskins around the board, I've decided to try a more "elite" army, and am looking at fielding a "WolfWing" of Logan and a few units of Wolf Guard in Terminator Armour (possibly carried to battle in land Raiders).

I'm not sure how they compare to the more traditional DeathWing of the Dark Angels, but I've started writing up a list before investing in the models.

Logan

3 x 4 Wolf Guard in TDA

3 x Land Raider

1421 pts, leaving a few pts to add heavy weapons and other goodies.

Main foes are Grey Knights (Damn you, Inquisition #Shakes armoured fist at the darkening sky), Imperial Guard (Out of our way, weaklings, this is a job for real men!) and Tyranids (XENO SCUM!)

Fellow Wolves,

I'm a new Wolf player, infact its the first time I have used Space Marines other than those belonging to the foul chaos gods.

I'm an Ork at heart but the pull of Russ was too great and thus here I am.

I'm from Aberdeen Scotland, indeed the frozen wastes at this moment.

I'm building up my force, slowly, still trying to come to grips the rules and such. I'm a big fan of troops and will have many in my Wolf army. I'm going for a dark grey col, as per the codex cover. Not a fan of the blue/grey colour that GW use.

Horns full of beer on me!

Hallo, decided to join after looking up some information on army building and trying to see how people were painting their forces. I just recently got back into 40K after many years away. Thirteen years ago I attempted to get into Space Wolves but only got so far as two units and the 2nd ed Space Wolves Codex (mom didn't like spending all that money on miniatures) and a few years ago I attempted to get back into 40K with a friend but never got far (lack of interest in area we lived in). An Imperial Guard playing friend of mine was talking to me about what she played last month, I told her I always liked 40K but never got truly into it and she showed me the new Codex and figures. And well... I'm hooked now. Just waiting on my Space Wolf battle force to get here to start doing something - painting/fighting/etc.

So anyway, TL;DR: Not really new to 40K in a whole but been away for so long it's practically new! Also, long time love for Space Pups.

"vargatimmen är här, tiden mellan natt och gryning, timmen när flest människor dör och sover som djupast, när mardrömarna är som värkligast. timmen när dom sömnlösa jagas av deras största rädsla, när spöken och demoner är som starkast."

translation:

"The Hour of the Wolf is the hour between night and dawn. It is the hour when most people die, when sleep is deepest, when nightmares are most real. It is the hour when the sleepless are haunted by their deepest fear, when ghosts and demons are most powerful."

this qoute is from an old swedish horror movie.

anyway im a swede who have been in the world of 40k in about 7 years. i always wanted to start a SW army (I realy like Norse mythology so I love space wolves) but my brother beat me to it. so they become my enemy. :P but with the new codex he quit so i can raise. <_<

i have played DG so bolter and chainsword are no strange place.

Greetings Brothers!!!!

I am still a pup when it comes to playing 40k and i chose Space Wolves for the the same reasons as a lot of other players: the fluff and the models. I have always like the more raider/viking theme (I have some scandenavian in me) and I thought the Wolves looked the best.

Also I had a question, is the space wolf battleforce the best thing to start out with because I just ordered a box? I also have the codex and have been studying up on army types, got some good ideas.

Let the ale flow! For Russ!!!!

I started playing 40k in the summer, doing an Ork army. I recently finished 2000pts of them, and was looking for a new army to do. I thought Space Marines might be a good army to collect, although loads of people have SM armies. I also was looking for an army that were kinda like Vikings, because Vikings are awesome. So, I decided SW would be the best army, especially considering the recent new codex. I currently only have a pack of GH but I will be getting more SW soon. Also, have a look at my army list I have planned, in the SW army list section, and give me suggestions, etc.
I decided to go space wolves because I liked the Ragnar novels and I would like to have another marine army to back up my Crimson Guardians in Apoc so i chose wolves to provide heavy hitting assault :) I like the new models they released and the were the final spark in me making a SW force :)

Not really a 'new' Space Wolf collector, I used to a few years ago, but only recently started getting back into it (bought some pre-new release, typically!).

So joined here to look at ideas for how to play, as I'm seriously playing now I have a job which can fund me!

*walks in long hall*

Greetings Brothers!

Well, just started SW a couple days ago, with 1 battle force, another drop pod, rhino, predator, a blood claw pack, and a Wolf Lord. Going to pick up a LR today me thinks. Hope to enjoy my time here in the fang, and become an ole grumpy long fang

hey guys...

I've been a fan of 40K and space wolves fluff for sometime now. finally decided that i would start 40k and in particular space wolves(yay!). i am really liking the new codex and miniatures and hopefully will have a good time .

Greetings Wolf Brothers!

I trust you've all been having a good Yule?

I've just started playing 40k again, first started some 17 years ago at the tender age of 8, playing Dark Angels out of the old Angels of Death 'dex. Well, when it came to starting up again recently my brother decided he wanted to collect Dark Angels, which left me without an army. Had a stab at Codex Raven Guard, but that didn't fit. Then I tried Black Templars, but that didn't suit either. So when the new 'Wolves 'dex landed, I grabbed my drinking horn (no, really...), stroked my beard and realised I had finally found what I'd been looking for (my Thor's Hammer pendant, it had gone missing!) and then realised playing a Wolves army would be a good idea!

Just posted my army list up in the army board and hope to have the chance to partake in many sagas with The Sons of Russ in the coming months!

Skol!

Dregan.

Hale fellow sons of russ,

I've painted 40k for years and read rhe books however as my son wanted to get bettle for black reach i thought i would jump in with him. i've started with my first ever army and just loved the ethos behind the Space Wolves.

i must admit i have done what a lot of people must have done at first and just started building and painting with no regard to unit make-up, so now i have to re-address some of the mistakes i have made lol.

once done i'll have Njal, 5 wolf guard termies, 2 wolfe guard in power armour, 1 blood claw pack, 1 grey hunter pack & 1 long fang pack. its a start but glad to be in the fang!!
