Lord Ragnarok

Greetings Brothers of the Fang,

Not sure if I left my mark here before but anyways thought I make my presences known now. Been a wolf player now since 2000, so have seen the ups and downs from 3rd to 5th. Through it all I have keep the faith the Wolves would always triumph. At any rate I have now about 7000 points of Wolves and with the new dex have a bunch of questions. So see you in the halls of the Fangs!!

Wolf Lord Bloodstone

Oh my, I cant believe Ive missed this thread since Ive been posting in this forum ;) .... Hi, Ive only been in the hobby a little over two years. A friend got me to join the game, and at the time I really liked the idea of wolves, but he advised me against it as the codex was old, and we already had a few space wolf players in our area, so I went DA :HS: . Since then I have expanded into vanilla marines :tu: . Now with the " shiny new dex" as Ragnarok said, I happily join the sons of Russ with a snarl on my lips and mead on my breath :FA: .

As am new to painting and modelling wolves, any help would be appreciated, I have a link to my WIP in my sig if you care to see :HQ:

Oh, and I do share the fluff-models-rules priorities, I mean who doesn't love the idea of superhuman viking-celts kicking some a$$ in space! And no doubt with manly beards and ale! We look like we can kick your duff, and we can, and most likely will. We love a brawl but dont think we cant shoot ;) .

Hello there Brothers,

Im Alex (or SgtTelion)

Im a medic in the British Army (or apothocary) ;) and recently started 40k again! I have been doing GW games for nearly 20 years, and got bored painting Ultramarines just recently, so decided to Start an army with character!

Hence my box of Blood Claws, Wolf Guard Termies, Ragnars company shoulder pads, Grey hunters Shoulder pads, Ragnar Blackmane, Njal Stormcaller, Logan Grimnar, Canis Wolfborn and the ForgeWorld Terminator conversion pack are infront of me ready to be built :) I also got some bases from MicroArt Studios to give my Wolves even more character :P

Wish me luck!

Thanks Grey Mage, *passes back a flagon of ale*

Welcome, Im glad youve found a good family game. Have some roast boar *passes the plate*. Your son going orks or SMs?

When he first started looking at 40K, it was all about the necrons, but now he's got the black reach set (and seen my SW army) he's now lovin SMs

Hello all

My name is Eric and I've been playing 40k since 1998 and only recently got back into it seriously about 3 years ago. Started off with SW as my first army and have slowly been expanding their ranks since then.

Grew up in Hawaii but moved to Seattle, WA 5 years ago. I have yet to find a solid gaming community here in Seattle, but would love to find a group that plays regularly

I have about 4500 points worth at this point and I am currently working on revising the paint scheme of my Wolves.

Cheers!

Eric

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to gaming at 28. I bought AOBR last year, painted most of the models and played a few games with a buddy of mine who is into RPing and has a bunch of terrain etc. Slowly getting the bug I waited until the SW release to start building an army since nothing is cooler than drunken viking werewolves in space. I wish I had been on the boards earlier since I picked BC's as my first unit to build/paint. That said I've already found some great advice on here and will definitely be around in the future.
Hi everybody. Ive been lurking in the back for a while now, so thought it best to introduce myself. I first started my Wolves army some 12/13 years ago (I think) and played for a couple of years before they got hidden away through various moves around the country. Recently I found them again and looking at the poor quality paint jobs on them I decided to try it all again. All the advice, hints and tips on B&C has helped me out an incredible amount already! Cheers.

Started 40k with Space Wolves roughly back in 2007. Picked up DH, and IG shortly there-after. And used them for improving my skills till I felt that I could do my Wolves justice.

Since the new dex, I have started re-painting my Wolves after purging the old paint from their armor in simple green and re-priming.

Pictures can be found in the HoH.

Haven't gotten a chance to field my Wolves on the table yet since I have a "must be done, to have fun" rule in place in regards to painting and playing. Otherwise I don't get anything done and I remain dissatisfied with my 40k experience, having primed or otherwise un-finished models and nothing to show for the hundreds of dollars spent on the hobby. Which generally leads me to not wanting to paint even more-so.

Looking forward to future games with the local gaming club, and my Wolves.

See you around the Fang.

Aye, my prorities are also Fluff>Models>Rules, as some others have stated.

For that reason I have spent a lot of time on the Lexicanum, as well as reading the Space Wolf Omnibus. I've finished the first two books in less tan a month, and am currently ploughing through no. 3.

I have, of course, gotten lost in aimless trawling of fluff on some occasions, so I think I'm quite well versed in it now.

Due to my long-standing ambivalence to the game I spent a lot of time getting my painting technique down, instead of rushing them onto the table, as I am sure many people do. The inexperienced, at any rate.

I first came across the Space Wolves back in the day when they had very little attention that I knew of. They were pretty much sidelined by other chapters like the classic beginner's army, 'Them Ultras'. Much like the White Scars and Salamanders are now (I'm sure some would refute this, but they don't have many dedicated models, do they?)

So I've been with the Wolves for a few years before they became cool, so now my old and poorly painted starters have either been interred in jars of brake fluid to soak the paint off (I have no simple green), or interred in the bitz boxes. They have been useful. Particularly for Steingrimr, and my non-termie Wolf Guard. I especially like the unique look the chapter carries off, apart from the daft hairy viking faces, but that was easily changed with a mixture of old bitz and forgeworld Mk 4.

I only became interested in the rules when I decided it would ba rather good to get a job in GW, and that it would be a boon to be able to play the game.

As with most other people, I have loved the SW fluff since 1994. The only thing that kept me from playing them earlier was their brokenness IMHO. I've played Tau since the middle of 4th edition and only recently started building Space wolves. Now I just have to find time to paint Tau and Space Wolves.

Hello All,

I'm Reilly and I've been into the hobby since 2005. I established an account here quite some time ago on the Black Templars forum, but since the publication of the new Wolf Codex I've decided to follow the teachings of Leman Russ, for at last all factors as models, fluff and rules were in perfect harmony for me. In simple words I've finally found a Marine Chapter that suits me 100%. I have about 4000 points models for Space Marines army that I'm slowly converting for totally Wolf models (I just love Wolf Guard Terminators ;) )

Cheers!

Hey all,

My names Rich and im 26. I was into the hobby in my early teens, after a 13 year absence I have returned. Im more interested in the modelling side of the hobby than the gaming side at the moment, its changed a bit since I last played!. I was quite good at painting when I was younger, hopefully can pick up where I left off. Space Wolves were my army back then, decided to continue this as the new models are just awesome. Awaiting delivery of some bits and pieces and then looking at starting a painting blog, im a slow painter so might not get updated regularly though!

Been looking around the site for a week and it looks to be a really friendly place, really like the painting forums and the friendly advice given out to help others improve their techniques. See you all on the boards.

Hey guys :)

Im Tom im 18 been playing space wolves on and off for about 4 years now but when the new dex came out :) I felt it was time to revisit the sons of russ properly :)

I love the fluff especially the idea of lost companies :) AND I love the range of conversions the Wolves allow me to consider... massive chainsawd halberd anyone? :)

Hi all,

Where to start i used to play 40k Space wolves back with 2nd edition but about six years ago stop playing and gave my army to a friend stating i would not need it any more..

Then about 2 months ago walked into Games workshop and picked up the new codex and was hooked again.

My wife got me the hobby starter kit and shopped about on eBay, plus Christmas was useful.

So back playing Space wolves but as my own chapter, The Astral Lupine.

Basically they are in green armour instead of space wolf grey.

Hi, new to 40K and to space wolves. I've been a fantasy player for a few years and fairly interested in 40K for a while but was uninspired by the armies...until I bought the white dwarf with space wolves in it! This, I thought, is just what I was after. Having bought the codex, I'm convinced, by the background, that this is the 40K army I want to run. The models are pretty nice too, plus of course almost endless conversion projects to be started and left on the shelf for a while...I mean, really get my teeth into. I've a few questions, but I'll post those separately.

Cheers again!

*Emerges from my lair*

Greetings whelps! Grab yourselves an ale and pick a few things up from some brothers who have been around for many, many moons.

Hopefully your sagas will become long and prosperous whilst you make up our ranks.

Now back to reading the bones for me.

Hi all,

I'm an ork player by background. Many moons ago, my opponent played SW, and I loved the fluff and styling. Thought other SMs were a bit dull, but these guys seemed fun to play.

So, converted the black reach guys, bought a blood claw pack and fought my first battle on Monday. I've decided only to play with painted models; I've never been too strict about that in the past, but the imagery seems so ingrained to the wolves that fielding unpainted troops would be a travesty. I'm still trying to work out how they should be fielded.

My fellow Son's of Russ,

Allow me to bestow my presence unto you. I entered the hobby in 1995, at the persistent urging of a fellow college student friend of mine. He being a banana head player, that is Eldar for those who don't know, quickly gave me the story from his point of view. His explanations intrigued me, but didn't seem to sit right with me, coming from the space tree hugger bias. I felt that my path would lead me down the space marine route however, but which one? Since we had become really good friends by that time, I decided to ask him about the various chapters and which one he thought I would enjoy playing. Without hesitation he told me straight out, "Space Wolves my friend!" Well being a lifetime admirer of the wolf and having had one as a pet as a child, 72% Timber Wolf and my Native American totem being the wolf, I decided this was right on target. That weekend we drove to the nearest game shop and I picked up a 2k point army box from 2nd edition. The codex hadn't been released yet, however that month's WD had official army entries until the official codex was released.

I've been playing the Son's of Russ ever since, with minor breaks to World Eaters and Orks for variety. I have over 10k points of my beloved wolves, for which is tough to find anyone singly that can come close to that around here for a good Apocalypse fight! I'm excited about our new codex and the attention that was taken in writing it. Only one thing annoys me enough to mention and that is Ulrik. Why give him an oath for slaying monsters without giving him a way to boost his strength? I hardly see strength 4 as adequate for monster slaying, anyway. I would have to say my most favorite rule set came from the 13th Co. entry in the Eye of Terror Campaign. I hope to see it return someday for I have over 30 wulfen just sitting in an army box. Anyhow so continues my saga and I appreciate your ear. Now pour yourself some more ale and gorge on the hind quarters of some Elk. For Russ and the All Father...UNTIL WOLF TIME!
