decided i ought to settle on an army and decided on wolves (vanilla marine are bleh, and i dont like black templars or dark angels.) also because then i can get some good practise in on painting skin. the fluff is great and the so are the models.

I thought I would put my 2 cents here. I am not new to 40K or the Wolves.I have been involved with 40K sence 1990, and the Space Wolves sence the 2nd addition codex. I am new to this forum. I find it very enjoyable. I have played DA, Templars, IG, Choas, and Eldar as well. I have always liked the fluff and the models. I find that the Wolves echo my own taste for red meat and ale. And lets not forget getting crazy in close combat!

Hail Russ and The Allfather!

Welcome young one! I am not so sure what you see in Stormcaller being a Rune Priest myself, I would much rather throw bolts of lightning great distances at my foes or prevent our enemies trying to get the upper hand on us but each to their own!

And our fluff is certainly second to none, be sure to check out the comprehensive history available in the Librarium to get an overview of our mighty chapter.

Haha thank-you for the welcome!

I agree, stormcaller - the power - certainly isnt one of the most exciting abilities.

I was talking about Njal Stormcaller!

Im not new to the space wolves but am new to the forum...Ive been playing space wolves for the last 3 maybe 4 years and am excited they are finally getting a new codex (its about time GW). I was thinking about adding to my current space wolves army a calvary based army, based on the new storm rider units, however I think this might be met with some comments of "cheez" and wanted to get others opinions on it...So what do you guys think????

So a little history, 2 years ago I decided that I wanted that I wanted to play warhammer 40k. After looking on forums and reading some fluff I decided I wanted to start a space wolves army so I took a stroll down to my local gamers workshop and pick up the codex. Long story short I get there and the red shirt tells me that the space wolves are virtually done, they don't have a codex on print anymore, he showed me the free blood angel codex online and the rest is history. I've been playing blood angels all that time and never really looked back, but reading the fluff of this new codex really awakened the wolf deep down inside me.

I'm looking forward to becoming part of this community and kicking some tail with the wolves.

New too the board, I started playing SW 5yrs ago, have played vanilla, Eldar, Orcs and Chaos also. After a year and a half of no playing I was more than excited to hear of a new codex and after seeing it O.O Time to repaint my 13th company and bring back my "Space Cataz". Looking forward too swapping ideas with some of my brothers in battle.

i am a really new SW player i have played 3 games at our club and won all 3!! but only because of a vetran player at our club who has been better help then an entire chapter of SM so hope fully ill keep playing winning and boasting for years to come.

oh and the ale HaHa!! :)

I have played Tau for years, almost since they first came out as an actually fieldable army and while the Tau are still my favorite I have decided to start a melee army to go along with my shooting one. When I was looking about a year ago I loved the look at Space Wolves but my favorite melee unit was assualt marines and the Space Wolves didn't have a godo priced equivalent. Now though with the flying wolves what I was has finally been but together. Space Wolves and a jump pack marine that doesn't take too many points. So I'm going to start converting my marines to space wolves, some painting and a bit of modeling changes.

Hello Wolves!

I used to have a Wolf army then with new work commitments I drifted from the hobby sold my models etc etc. Now I'm working from home so I'm getting paid to model ha! Just about completed a Vanilla Marine army (they use Dark Angel parts but brothers please don't strike me down they have no links to those girls) and now with the new wolves coming out it's the perfect time to return to Fenris.

Right now I'm working out a list so any ideas chime in here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=179327 as I don't have the new dex yet but have read much about it.

For Russ and the Allfather!

Hey everybody,

I'm Bjorn, 16 years old and living in the Netherlands. I play 3 years of warhammer fantasy now (wood and dark elves) and started a year ago with eldar. However, even though I like to play with eldar, they haven't really got me truly excited about the models and fluff.

I actually wanted to collect space wolves, because I really am into Norse mythology and wolves (my favourite animal), but the models were just way to outdated. So I thought about converting them a lot, but as my skills with GS were really bad back then, I soon dropped the idea thinking that if I couldn't make them cool, I shouldn't collect them. Now a few monthes later I heard that the wolves would be renewd. As you can imagine, I got immediately excited.

Read some fluff, loved them even more, saw some of the new models, knew it for sure: Space Wolves will be my main army!

My interest in the wolves lies mostly with the models and fluff. Not that I don't like too play them (that's something we just have to wait and see), but my favourite part of the hobby has always been painting. This however means that my army will be REALLY slow in progress as I want every model to be painted as if it is a hero (and to be honest, every space wolf is a hero in my eyes xD).

Anyway, after having been lurking for a while now I decided to register finally as my desicion has ben made, so prepare... a new wolf lord arises...

PS: Yes, I copied it from the regular introduction topic xD.

Hello wolves of all lengths of tooth,

I'm a follower of all things games workshop since the rogue trader and fantasy role play books found their way into my posession at an early age. I really got interested however, when I read a battle report of Ragnar Blackmane's wolves taking on an orc horde led by Ghazghkull Thraka. Since that report I've been a wolves lover, although never really had the time to collect an army.

Over the years I've been dipping in and out of the hobby as time and money permits, and very nearly collected a wolf army in third edition. I made up some scouts from a ton of bits and some green stuff, but couldn't really get into the army because something just didn't feel right. An emphasis on blood claws with pwer fists just didn't feel like a real space wolf army to me, so I just stuck bits together here and there, sold some kit and waited.

Now for about a year, I've been following the rumours of this codex release, and hoping it captures my imagination in the same way the battle report did way back in second edition. So far it has.

I'm not sure if I'll get sucked in enough to collect a full battleworthy force, or if I'll just have fun modelling some lone wolves, wolf scouts and some vehicles, but I do know I'm really excited about this time round.

I'm glad I found this forum, as it seems like the perfect place to bounce ideas around and get inspiration for the aspects of the hobby I really enjoy, and that space wolves especially encourage.

Regards,

Marek

Hey all, thought id introduce myself seeing as I signed up to the forum about 4 years ago and have apparently made 2 posts (although not a clue what they were...)

My names Alan, I'm currently living in Wigan UK although i grew up down the road in Liverpool and I'm 27 years young (I hate using the word old :P). I got into Warhammer probably about 17 years ago when my brother introduced me to it, been drifting in and out of it since then. Never been much of a gamer (They usually involved 3000 pt armies played on the floor and calling it a draw after 2 turns cause of aching knees...) was always more interested in the fluff and modelling side of it.

My recent revival into the hobby came about cause my brother recently moved and stored some of his stuff at my flat which included all the Dawn of War games and about 60 Black Library books nearly all of which involve the Marines. So after reading all the Wolf novels and starting working my way through the Horus Heresy ones AND giving up my quite frankly ridiculous addiction to World of Warcraft, I have decided to start up my wolves again. Quite frankly i couldn't have picked a better time for it too :)

Well thats bout it, just wanted to say hello to everyone and also as proof of my allegiance i present the following .......

:D

Okay, so I've been in the 40K hobby for about a year now...I'm a devoted Blood Angels(and recently Death Guard player), and when the rumors of the Wolf Codex started coming around, I put my fingers in my ears as our FLGS manager ranted about the Wolves(He's the biggest Space Puppy-Lover I've ever met). And when the release date was confirmed for October, I was afraid that I was going to have to put 'Anything but Space Wolves' on my birthday wishlist.

And that damned, terrible beauty of a codex hit the stores....And I'm a Wolf player now. The sheer fluff of everything in this codex brought me into it. The Sagas, the Special Characters, all of them got me hooked. And so...um, yea. New Wolf Player. I bring ale and wenches!

I just have one question for the Wolf Pack here. What's a quick, easy paint scheme for that blue-gray?

Hi!

I'm, too my surprise, not really new too this forum and not so new to the wolves. I hail from the north of Sweden and have played Space Wolves since ~2002.

Now that that's out of the way, who's up for a round of ale?

Nine hells, so many views and not one response. Yeesh.

Welcome to the Wolves, Craz. It's a good place, here at the Fang, and I'm sure you'll find your niche.

In regards to painting, I honestly can't help you, mostly because I've never done Blue-Gray. Ever. Hehe.

Welcome mate. Grab an ale, sit yourself down, and enjoy yourself.

Greetings young one! I'm a bit disappointed too by the lack of a welcome from our bretheren, they must be sleeping off the ale!

Good to hear that we have another drawn in by our fluff.

And alas with me I use Shadow Grey for a darker miniature but I believe you want the one in the codex? From my tomes I have deduced that is Space Wolf Grey, likely over a coat of Fenris Grey foundation

I just have one question for the Wolf Pack here. What's a quick, easy paint scheme for that blue-gray?

Been a while since I painted any Wolves, but: Undercoat Black, Shadow Grey, Space Wolf Grey is what I used to use. If I were to paint more Wolves, I'd still use that as my fall back, but I'd be tempted to try: White Undercoat, Asurmen Blue Wash, highlight with Space Wolf Grey.

Welcome to the Fang and have an ale!

Apologies for the wait for replies and may your saga's be long and victorious! It is also nice to see that people are coming to the wolfy side for the fluff :tu: .

I paint my Space Wolves using the following colour scheme because I like Pre-Heresy and I can't stand the baby blue colour scheme:

Black Undercoat

Adeptus Battlegrey Basecoat

Codex Grey Highlights

Badab Black Wash

Cheers

Thorgrim

Hi and welcome,

Before you paint anything take a look in the Space Wolf painting and modelling thread and see if there is any scheme you like and ask the Wolf brother to give you the mix. I'm sure they'll be willing to help (as well as flattered).

Cheers

Ok. Recently i've been using space wolves grey but i've been thinking and i think fenris grey followed by shadow grey is the way to go. I like the blue-grey look but SW grey is far to light toned for me.

The darker moodier look suits space wolves better i think :D
