maligncomedy
Greetings young one! I'm a bit disappointed too by the lack of a welcome from our bretheren, they must be sleeping off the ale! Good to hear that we have another drawn in by our fluff. And alas with me I use Shadow Grey for a darker miniature but I believe you want the one in the codex? From my tomes I have deduced that is Space Wolf Grey, likely over a coat of Fenris Grey foundation Excuse me, this wolf was just let out of the doghouse. My Slaaneshi better half had a battle with me (one I did not pick wisely) and I was forced to leave for a bit XD. I'm ale deprived men. Anyways, Welcome to the Fang, have yourself an ale. And I recommend Thorgrim's style. crescent fang
hi, i'm extremely new to the forum and don't know much about it, but i've been in 40k for 6 years but never had the cash nor skills to start an army. i have been a collector of knowlage and have most codexes, but the reason i'm here is to start an army of wolves. i've always had a soft spot for werewolves, wolf fighters and now, space wolves, and my goal is to learn and fight for the sons of russ. "call upon me from the howl, test me by your might, forge me from the fang, and let all know that we, are the sons of russ!" ps. i bring good tidings, stines and ale to the mix. <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178460-new-aspirants-introduce-yourselves-here/page/4/#findComment-2124357 Share on other sites

Atrocities
Hai everyone, I have been away for awhile. I used to post under the tag "Spoons" a year or two ago, but have recently found myself tired of the constant bickering on some online forums and have removed myself mostly from the internet community. [RAW vs RAI arguments FTMFL] (Though I do frequent GW sanctioned GTs, Indi-GTs, and the Adepticon convention). IRL my name is Mike Walsh, if you know me or remember me rad! <_< If not a brief history is in order. I started with Space Wolves 5 years ago, and fell in love with them. Started playing them in late 3rd ed. and in early 4th. When the 4th ed. SM book came out I put into my head that I could make a Space Wolves army capable of competing on the national scene, even though by and large it was thought impossible in 4th ed. Those spots at the time were reserved for Nids. Eldar. DE. Orks. and CHAOS Oo. Me and a few friends started to work on a list that would combine the might of Drop Pods in conjunction with Rhinos and other fast hard hitting units to make a force both capable of crippling armies in a turn or 2, but also resilient and able to snatch late came objectives. To put it bluntly, I play tested and battle tested my Space Wolves army somewhere in the neighborhood of 200+ games over the last few years. Constantly refining it and improving it. I never looked up a net list and was like golly that will win. Through hard work and many love filled hours (Space Wolves are my favorite) I was able to come up with something that I (with some help from some great friends and generals) was really proud of and that truly was capable of competing on the national level when most thought it was not possible. (When I say most, I do so referring to BOLS, Dakka, and many other national players). Highlights would include multiple "Best Overall" "Best Army" "Best General" "Best Theme" "Best Painted" awards in RTTs. An army feature by John Shaffer done for the Baltimore 2007 GT. Mine are the black power armor Space Wolves. And most recently this year at Adepticon when I went 3-0 in the Championship to tie for 2nd place (off by 5 points) and win "Best Sportsman" also won "Best Team Appearance" in the Team Tournament. I can proudly say that I am a Space Wolf player. I love the army. I love the fluff. I love how the rules push you to play to the character of your army ex. Charging a Wolf Lord into a Carnifex or Bloodthirster in turn 6 because it's the only way to win and he might die, but he is gonna go down in a blaze of glory doing it! I have heard grumblings online about the new Wolf book. By the same people who grumbled about the last one. There are amazing units, and amazing things you can do with characters in this book. Sure some things got nerfed, but they had to be. But, a ton of things got better and we got some sick new stuff. Hope my WB ME post didn't come off cocky or arrogant. For those who know me that is not really my way. I rep the Space Wolves nationally when most are scared to bring them to GT's and I take a lot of pride in that and hopefully you guys would applaud someone who goes to bat for the army you love. I can say that I am eager to play my Wolves against anyone at anytime and am all the more willing to make believers out of those who doubt the SPACE WOLVES. Can't wait to hopefully see old friends and make new ones. I'm starting a space wolves army because I like the fluff, models and always wanted to start one once i got enough money for it. A while i ago i wanted to start the army because i had enough money but then i found out space wolves were gonna get a new codex so i thought i should wait a while and then start it. I pre ordered a codex, 2 pack boxes and the Terminator box. I might need some advice on how to equip them. I hope to have a lot of fun here and with my army. For Russ. melabi
I've been playing tyranids for some while, and I decided to start another army so here I am. :) I have had the new codex for some while.. Since I'm entirely new to the marines, I have some fundamental questions; I'm planning to use the runepriest - maybe two. The question is, can I do this? I mean using two runepriests. And about the psychic powers, can I use the two same power at once? With master of runes ability? plus, how does using two psychic work? May I use them in the shooting phase like I am firing them twice? That will be all for now. '-'a Thanks for your answers. Haroof
Hail, brothers and pack mates all! Been in the hobby for about 9 years, started with standard astartes, though I did dip my toe into the ice cold pool that is the power of the Wolves. Unfortunately, my painting and modelling back then was pretty poor, and I felt that I couldn't do the Wolves justice, so I had to let them rest as I continued with other armies. I expanded the original astartes, went to some various small Imperial Guard armies, before beginning my current Tau army. With whispers of a new Wolf codex in the air, I anticipated the codex with bated breathe, all the while continuing my Tau. With my army nearly completed, I was rewarded with confirmation of the renewal of the Russ' Wolves ^_^ I'll probably continue to expand my Tau, but I shall work to make the best possible Space Wolves models I can make, and afterwards, see if the random combination of models ends up being a tactically coherent army ;) WOW a lot of new pups i see XD welcome you all is this thread only for new pups ??? well since nobody really knows me or anything >< sad........ I see no reason not to introduce yourself, you are new to us Blood Claws, so I say it is a boon for us all to declare ourselves with pride! Ales, mead and meat for all my brothers!! AWOOO!! thade
I only started back in June, now I'm up to nearly 3000 points of a Codex Marine Army...2500 pts of which are fully painted and have been fielded. My army is DIY and I'm naming each of the vets AND in many cases their armaments...and I cheer for them, by name, as I roll. When I do so, they do remarkably well. It's "roughly" codex as I've been gearing it to "as much melee as possible." As such I have an airborne vanguard and a footslogging vanguard (in a LRC/R) which will begin sharing the field in the coming weeks. I'm also working on an Honor Guard design right now. I love the Assault Phase. Given that I love Marines and the Assault Phase, I think you might be able to infer why I'm drawn to the Space Wolves. They've got a tremendous amount of story behind them and are very unique for Marines (but still Space Marines, which incase you forgot, I love). My local club is going to start an "escalation league" in a few months...where we each pick a new army and start painting it...and well, I'm eyeballing Space Wolves and thinking of how I might justify, color, and design a Lost Company who's just come home...and refuses to change their now different armor color scheme. I figure they're fans of both drinking and doling out a beat down, so they'll find common ground despite a few thousand years of separation anxiety. Expect LOTS of questions from me, mostly rooted in fluff. A pleasure to meet you all. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178460-new-aspirants-introduce-yourselves-here/page/4/#findComment-2129034 Share on other sites
Brother Dano
Hi, I'm a long time boardgamer, and I've played some miniatures games, but never Warhammer. However, I've become strangely obsessed with Space Hulk after watching some friends play it, which led me to the latest issue of White Dward magazine. Now, I used to read White Dwarf when it was about D&D and role playing games, so the latest issue was the first one I've bought in over 20 years, if not longer. I thought the Space Wolves looked pretty cool so I picked up the issue and now I'm thinking about forming a Space Wolf army. I plan to get the codex and maybe a few packages of figures and trying out the game. I am an avid reader of history and especially enjoy Scandinavian mythology and sagas, so the Space Wolves sound interesting from a fluff standpoint. And I can envision some interesting color schemes for their armor, with the fur highlights and whatnot. I have to say the Space Marine painter on this site is also very cool-- how about a Space Wolf version that allows for customization and different heads? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178460-new-aspirants-introduce-yourselves-here/page/4/#findComment-2129273 Share on other sites
SkullBob
Hello all, I guess I am feeling a little nostalgic with the release of the new codex and I have returned to rebuild the army the army that first got me started in 40K back in 1988. I only had my space wolves army for about 5 years before I ran off to join the orks. Now I have returned to the way of the wolf but basically I'm just trading fungus brew for space wolf ale. Clone
I've played Marines for a long time and am looking for an army that plays differently and offers lots of conversions (my favourite thing about WH40k). I considered going over the C:CSM but while browsing through I found a Renegade Chapter called Skyrar's Dark Wolves which were first sighted int eh Fenris Sector, have a Wolf as a chapter symbol and are described as close combat specialists. Given the clues, they look a lot like Space Wolf renegades so I'm going to play Skyrar's Dark Wolves with Chaos style models but use the SW codex for rules. Terrahawk
Hail to the Sons of Russ! I have decided to put my original army (DAs :D) on semi-stasis. This means I come to your Great Hall to swear allegience to the mighty Russ. Now as for my reasons... I'm gonna be honest with you cause that is the Fenrisian way. The new Codex is what drove me to start a Space Wolves army at this time, but I can assure you my reasons are not powergame-related. I did consider starting Wolves last winter, because I like your fluff and the miniatures, but it didn't materialize until now. Also I'm really looking forward to playing a CC-oriented SM army, which will be a breath of fresh air. All those Orks and Chaos Space Marines I've faced in the past are up for a nice little surprise in the form of a Frostblade to their face! Also, from what I've lurked here in the Fang you guys seem to have the most fun, because I've often felt I've had to keep my twisted sense of humour on a sort leash (pun intented) on many other sections of this great site. Finally, I read in the Codex celebration thread that you guys drink online, so that also! :D So without further life-story-telling (less time for drinking that way grrr!): Where are the Grey Hunters and Long Fangs at?! *Stomps around proudly and shows off his tiny pup fangs* As an eager Bloodclaw I'm expecting to get the full welcoming party in the form of getting my face bashed in with Power Fists and such! Ranvir Krakendoom
Hail Brothers. Long time lurker finally decided to throw my name into the mix. I've been playing 40k and painting citadel miniatures since about 1990. Wolves have always been my 40k favourite. This is because the fluff is great. every story evokes a sense of honour that you just don't get from other vanilla chapters or those who have a tendency towards cannabilism. I was hooked by the story in the original wolf dex about an iron priest waking Bjorn the Fell-handed for a meeting with the Great Wolf. At the end of the story the iron priest offers to show Bjorn the way and Bjorn tells him not to bother, he already knows it. That image had me hooked and since then I've been a wolf. Over the years I've painted, sold and lost many wolf figures but have always stuck with the original pre-heresy grey and have never changed to the post heresy blue. At the moment I can only field 10 grey hunters as I started again after selling a 1500 point wolf army and then heard about the new dex so put it on hold until it was released. Hardest year of my life!! Still, it's out now and I've seen the minis and think the new wolf packs are a great idea. I'm looking forward to gathering the pack and taking the fight to the enemies of the Allfather. FOR RUSS.
