Hello everyone,

After many years in the hobby, I have finally decided to start playing 40k for the first time. The release of the new 'dex and with it the word 'Thunderwolf' was the first thing to tempt me to the 40k universe enough to buy some models. I'm currently converting up some models (I'll find an appropriate place to post photos shortly) and I'm hoping I'll get my first game in next thursday. I'm really collecting this army from a converting/painting/look nice point of view so its models first, tabletop effectiveness second, this is how I play most of my armies and I find that it takes a fair old while to start winning games, but its good fun doing it! To this end, when it's assembled and I take the (probably still unpainted hoard) to war on thursday I'm fully expecting 9 Thunderwolfs to bounce off whatever they come up against, but hell, I'm sure I'll have a laugh whilst doing it.

Hope to chat to you all here at some point.

I've been debating starting 40K for a couple years. I've finally decided to start with Space Wolves being my first army. I intiate strayed away from themm being a Fan of Tzeentch and the Thousand Sons... But with this new codex They have the fluff,h(Big for me), feel, and overall playstyle I like, and are different enough from Codex Ultramarines 5th ed to make me happy. Plus I'm a celtic viking so, The Sons of Russ just fit.

Hi everybody

First started in 2nd edition with a Space Wolves army loved the fluff and the wolf imagery as well as a love for snow. My first load of Space Wolves were very badly painted used those through to 3rd edition. After that Started a Black Templars army when Armageddon happened.

Slowly drifted away and didn't play for a few years sold off all of my models to help fund university. Eventually got interested again and picked up an army of Tau really enjoy the fast long ranged firepower, but have finally decided to shelve them for a while for an army that gets up close and personal what better than my first army the Space Wolves.

Thinking of going with lots of Grey Hunters in Rhinos backed up by some drop pod Wolf Guard.

Also considering some Blood Claw Snowboarders as a fun side project in the future but will probably be after I have 1000 points of Wolves painted.

Another thing I've thought of doing is a conversion for each of the Wolf Lords without a Model.

Too many ideas too little time/money.

Well I started the game as Space Marines because I liked the tactical aspect of the whole thing. However as time passed I realised that Space Marines are not the monsters they are thought to be. I also pay a fair ammount of attention to fluff. And according to this I don't like the limited options of a Codex marine army. For example I like to see my captain riding with a monster combat unit. However this is not possoble as codex marines have none. Only vanguard veterans can accomplish that but they are 1st company marines whilke I play 4th. So I saw the Wolf Guard and Great Company composition and I thought '' here we are''. I am also a great lunatic when it comes to vikings. I really like their background history traditions prowess and their sence of honor and glory. I really regret not having played as wolves earlier. I still play as codex marines as it would be high treason to abandon them and I picked up the wolves when I delved deeper into their background and lore. I believe the wolves are going to be one of the best and more importantly most entertaining armies I have ever played along with WHFB Chaos Warriors. Thats all from me lads. FOR RUSS AND THE WOLFTIME!!!

Fáilte.

I've been lured back into playing 40k because of the release of the new wolf dex. I started back in 2nd, had a laugh during the 3rd ed but stopped playing during 4th ed. When rumours began to emerge of a shiny new book I decided to dust off some models and get rebuilding and repainting. One of my buddies is aiming to have a Great Company made entirely of metal models and I laughed at him when he told me. I realised that I have about 50 power-armoured marines already so I reckon I'll aim for the same to be completed and painted within the next 2 years.

I'm looking forward to trying to crack the list and find out the real evil stuff for tournaments. Yes, I'm a tourney gamer and I like cheese. For that reason Thunderwolf cavalry are really appealing to me at the moment. Those, and Wolf Standard-toting Grey Hunters.

I might get round to starting a blog or thread about my painting progress at some stage. It might act as a form of motivation. But all that will have to wait until I figure out how to come up with a good recipe for yellow.

Hello all,

I've been playing 40k for about 9 years now and have always been a Dark Eldar player. If their is one thing I don't like about the dark eldar it is their complete lack of fluff. The space wolves have fluff coming out of thier ears, literally i've seen it, it's kind of gross.

With the release of the new wolf codex and the thunderwolf cav I thought I'd try out a tougher, fluffery kind of army. After going on about the fluff I will now completely change it and use my own, I will be playing my space wolves as the "Lions of Urik" and will be converting the models to a desert lion type of theme. I bought 9 of the high elf white lions and plan on using all of them as thunderwolf cav in my 2k army. Using my dark eldar I'm used to having a unique army and I think the thunderwolf cav force should be pretty different.

Hi guys.

I played SW's way back in 2nd Ed. and have recently moved countries for work. As I literally know no one in the country I decided to pick up 40K again for something to do and found pleasantly that the SW's are about to have a new Codex released. I've got a rubber elbow so my arm was easily twisted and I'll pick up the new Codex when it gets released. I guess I'll have to get the Rule Book as well :)

I'll probably get my butt handed to me when I eventually start playing but learning to play is part of the fun!

I have been a Space Wolf player for about 9 years or so. I don't really remember exactly as it seems like a faded memory. I played second and third ed SWs and soon after went with Tau. I really enjoyed the back ground on the SWs and the models as well. I have been playing my Tau for the last 5 or so years but I am eager to get back to my Wolves.

I mostly read/post in another forum due to my Tau but have been disapointed with the way I was treated lately. Now that I am with BnC I hope to get back to my Wolves and do some gaming.

I am an older player but I do enjoy the modeling and the game itself.

I have a good knowledge to the Tau and Space Wolves and I hope I can help any new players.

We will have a ton of new Space Wolf players with the new shiney dex being released.

Please let us know a little about yourselves and why you are interested in the Sons of Russ.

We will only do introductions in this thread. All other threads will be locked or moved into this one.

Hail and well met brothers

I am 18 years old and have played 40k for 8 years and i've played fantasy for 7 years. my introduction into Warhammer came in the form of my freinds White Dwarf magazine that was laying on his bed. upon flipping open the pages i read a battle report of space wolves fighting tyranids and have been captivated eversince. my 1st model was an Ulric the slayer and my 1st codex was the Space Wolves 3rd edition. ive been in love with the barbarians of the future ever since but have never had the chance to actually make an army.

now with the upcoming release of the new codex i think the time is right to bare my fangs and show my local gaming club what the sons of Russ are made of.

Drink harty brothers

I am yet another Dark Angel player who has now abanndoned the Lion`s Call to take up the Wolves of Fenris (To be fair, DA had a 9 year run for me, now I want something that feels like home, so Vikings in Space it is)

I am acquiring everything but Canis on wednesday next week, and will hopefully get painting soon.

hello all,

i started with black templars, then chaos, then space marines, then orks, and now space wolves. i'm selling most of my minis to buy new space wolves. i love the fluff and the minis. they are unique and i like that a lot. i love the rules as well

Damn Firenze, you beat me to it :D Hopefully he will wake up soon as he shows promise....

Again, welcome to all our new brothers - especially today as the Wolf Time has arrived! :D

Cheers

Thorgrim

Greetings all

Thought id post in here before venturing out into the main pages

I have been playing 40K for over a year but reading the novels for at least 5. My favourite chapter was always the wolves of fenris however when I first ventured into GW in nottingham I was put off starting with them because I was informed that they would be soon getting a new codex so I went with Black templars who are fine but they arent the space wolves.

A child hood love of vikings is probably what attracted me the most along with a geeky obsession with Marvels heaviest hitter, the god of thunder

so theres a bit about me, ive now got my codex, ive got my first set of wolves who have just been sprayed up, going to go for the more grey colour scheme rather than the space wolves grey/blue and i cant wait to get them into action

also cant wait for the next horus heresy book

BTW was in warhammer world not too long ago and one of the lads that worked for black library was telling me that a new space wolves saga was on the way featuring an aspirant in ragnars company where ragnar would be a support character, very much looking forward to that

Damn Firenze, you beat me to it ;) Hopefully he will wake up soon as he shows promise....

Meh. I hit him gently. Jonas went through the entire fang before he hit Bjorn in the back.

Welcome all!!! To the madness and drunken majesty of the Fang!

Greetings all,

I'm new to the Space Wolves, but have been playing 40k off and on since the mid 1990s. Like most of us it seems, I was drawn to the SW by the viking aspects. I got the new codex the other day, drafted an army list and yesterday picked up a bunch of models including a couple of copies of the new Wolf Pack set.

Hey guys, I've been playing 40k for about 3 years, mainly i collect Ultramarines but in about march is decided I wanted to collect Space Wolves (this has NO connection to the fact that a Space Wolves army beat my friend's necrons in one turn  ). I think what mainly appeals to me is the sense of stories going on (especially with the new oaths and sagas). I did a bit of looking at them and found out that they were getting a new codex soon so I decided to wait for the new release. And now I've got the codex and a couple of kits and I'm ready to start Space Wolves :)

Hi, I came here before but my Space Wolves army never took of for some reason.

Anyway, here I am again, I just got tow wolves boxes, assembled as a WL or Battle leader with bolter and thunder hammer, 3 wolf guard, 8 blood claws and 8 grey hunters. I also got the codex. Wolves appeal to me in a way most marines never will. Sure, Ultras have honor too but there's no flavor behind it, and most of the others suffer from a similar lack of humanity. Of all the chapters, Wolves seem the least inclined to hide from this all important facet of their personality. Of course being human brings out the worst of us at times, but it also brings out the best. Therese no undeserved better than thou attitude towards non space marines (except for blood claws and some aloof older wolves, a flaw of being human) whereas some chapters refer to them as "mortals" which is quite close to Chaos thinking if you ask me. What I'm trying to say is I like the wolves for their honor and humanity, even though they're wolfy and marianie. Wolfieness is also very nice of course.

So...that was a bit of a rant ;) I think it's time to celebrate *Pulls large keg of beer from Thunderhawk* party time :D

Welcome to the Fang Brother. Have an ale and enjoy yourself, and post some pics when you've finished painting some units. :tu:

Edit: Just to let you know there is a thread for newbie introductions in the 'Important Topic' section on top. ;)

*waves*

*Mouths at you over the huge mass of bloodclaws*

*notes your confusion*

*Eyes glow blue*

Welcome to the fang, ales over on the right, see if you can squeeze through for it. Foods on the other side of the room... see if you can get some before your ale starts getting warm. These be your first trials as a real SW.

*Walks off in search of his own ale*

[Rises from the rubble, blood pouring from mouth]

Haha, it seems I was out for a while. But what do you lads know, I'm pretty sure you were over at the ale barrels all this time.

I must say though a mighty blow indeed, Brother Firenze! But where's my other fang?! This way it's going to take double the time to reach Grey Hunter status!

Oh, and thanks for the welcomes guys! :P

Hey fellas,

I'm new here and to the game as well. I use to be a collector and painter back when I was young (15ish years ago) *I was bad at painting then, hopefully better now!* but never got a chance to play it, mainly due to no one being interested in it locally. My friend was recently talking about one of his roommates Space Wolf army and I started to look at sites, painted models and such and got hooked again. I love the lore offered, and really love the 'rip your face off, and then eat it' melee style of the Space Wolves.

I recently purchased the Assault on Black Reach box and a Wolf Pack box *All of which remains unassembled and unpainted, hooray for 70+ hours of work a week!* not real sure what to get/do from here, but that will be for another post! Anyway, hope to fit in.. I notice a bit of RPing which I'm terrible at so I hope no one hates me for it! So um.. hi again! Be gentle!

hello brothers

i have been playing 40k for about four years and i have played just about everything. EXCEPT space wolves(and dark eldar, but we wont talk about them) mainly because when i started the space wolves codex was not on the shelf and there was always something new to look at, but now is the time for the sons of russ. i have read the omnibus and am about to go through a second read and i love the wolves fluff, the close combat, the ripping, the tearing i should be picking my copy of the codex up sometime this week. i will have lists. i would like my fellow wolves to judge them

FOR RUSS AND THE ALLFATHER!!
