Ello all, I am Silvtalon.

I have been playing warhammer 40k since 1995. I play the game for the tactical challenge and enjoyment of the game. I also enjoy painting and modeling the mini's when I can or when I have time. Over all I don't spend much time on forums but when I do I tend to lurk. Although I watched the community for a while and read information in different area's of the forum and liked what I saw. These forums at Space Hulk tend to have better information the other places I been to. Anyhow I am always willing to offer advice or help when possible.

My first two armies

Ultra Marines and Sisters of battle (no longer have gave them away to a couple friends so they can get into the game)

Current Forces I field.

Tau Empire - Very skilled with this army. (3100pts Worth to field)

Orc's - Just got into them for the sheer fun of it. Amusing force all around. (2700pts worth to field)

Space Wolves - In the process of obtaining the mini's I need. But enjoying the information your forms provide.

Last couple tournaments I almost placed in the top 3 for Ard'Boyz. I placed 4th and missed third place by 1 point each time. (Both times with my tau forces)

I want to put a special thank you to those in the space wolves forum for the info you provided the last couple days in helping me locate wolf models I was looking for to use in my TWC choice.

I always loved the SW idea and wolves have got to be the coolest animals( next to pig mi marmosets) i started with the space wolves about two years ago but was always plagued by the out of date codex/minis so i decided to wait for them to be redone.hearing of the new codex ive started my wolf army ( or small force) . But cant decide on lunar wolves, 13th company or just simple space wolves but i definitely want pre heresy dudes. Ive already built heavily converted dread and the top half's of about four Grey hunters( or slayers) and are awaiting some cash for some chaos warrior legs to make them true scale , using Doghouse's method.

Thanks

WS

I've been playing GW games since Gorka Morka (I was like, 6.) I'm a bit older now, and have decided to try out Space Wolves for a change. Not only do I have a beardy nid player in my group of friends, but I was getting tired of the 'shoot the bloop out of everything' tactic. I wanted to tear into something. And Space Wolves seem like a great choice. I have several (about 6-7k) points of Salamanders. When I get a big block of Space Puppies, I plan on using the Hammer And Anvil (Space Wolves being the Hammer and Salamanders the Anvil) tactic in Apocalypse. Using Flank March to drive my enimies into the guns of my combined Salamanders and IG (my IG is Squats-counts-as-Guardsmen.) One problem is the (obscene) cost of the Elite and HQ units. But thats cause they own.

Hey all,

I was introduced to Warhammer 40k when one of my friends showed me his Blood Angels army. He accidently bought a space wolf mini and gave it too me and I was instantly hooked (I was 7 at the time). Collected Space Wolves since then and never looked at any other army. I love the combat prowess behind wolves insane movements. I love their daredevil tactics and in your face attitude.

I also love Leman Russ... he is easily one of the coolest primarchs... I mean... he got a tank named after him cause the Imperial Guard love him too.

Anyways, long time player, recent forumer (I realised I made this account over a year ago, but never posted).

Space Wolves are awesome.

Hello Brothers

I haven't been 'round these parts in quite some time, but figured its time to join the fray. I hate to be a band-wagoneer, but I just started wolves recently. I got my Wolves together in August and just finished painting everything last week before a local GT. I've always loved the Wolves but got started with the Ultramarines back in 2000, and didn't want to start another marine army after learning the whole mythos behind 40k. After playing in the GT, I'm not only happy with playing the Wolves (w/ the old codex mind you) but have decided its time to throw down the Codex Astartes for good and pick up a stein of ale.

Good to be home........for Russ and the Wolftime

Hello chaps, new user here but long time lurker!

I've been playing 40k since 2nd Edition after my brother got me Space Crusade for my birthday one year and I've always been a Space Marine player. 2nd Edition is still my favourite, but I think thats more because 2 terminators were only £3 then and you could get a 2000 point army for under £100.

I play Crimson Fists in the main and probably have around 10000 points worth, but with only 2000 or so painted up. I'm afflicted with the same curse as most of you probably are - I'm a project-aholic. I can't finish one before I start another and these new Wolves were just too tempting to pass up. I didn't mean to get that many Fists but I ended up with a free Battle Company box for a reason that escapes me now.

So, my plan is to reduce that 10000 to less than 8000 and make up around 2-3000 worth of Wolves, hopefully without buying much more than a pack and a box of wolf guard terminators! Cheap as chips!

I like collecting and painting above actually playing, so rules and wargear mean less to me than having a characterful army.

I don't have long though, because my favourite gribblies will be re-released soon so I'll be on a Nid hunt then!

Greetings,

I fell under the sway of my friends and they lured me into the 40k Universe. While they recommended the Codex Astartes Based Marines or Chaos I went on my own path and due to my love for wolves (yes the living breathing ones) I've chosen the Space Wolves. Why have I chosen the Space Wolves, the strong Viking theme, their headstrong nature, courage and loyalty even if they are an odd Space Marine Legion/Chapter. I've read the Horus Heresy books to the latest one and well while I loved the other Legions the Space Wolves came out on top.

I have already acquired a copy of the newly released Codex and a meager Space Wolf Pack and played a small killteam game with them. I've set them up as a Grey Hunter Pack thus far and have performed admirably in a Space Hulk-like environment. Besides gaming I am also a tale fan thus to give them a little more personality I've called them "Hrolf's Snow Striders". I plan to purchase a Rhino for them next and a Battleforce of Space Marines so I get access to Assault Marines and thus build my Skyclaw Assault Squad.

For the Wolftime! For Russ! Arrrwoooooooooooooooo!

Been a fan of the Wolves since '92 when I bought my first SW Termy box. (even though I didn't know what the hell 40k was) Played some back then 'til I went away for school. Picked it up again about a year ago with some guys at work, and had been eagerly awaiting the new codex since then. Needless to say, I'm hooked. Again. Now with significantly more disposable income. Congratulations GW!

Hi, I have been playing Space Wolf based armies since 2nd edition. Although mine are Space Cats in color scheme, fluff and conversions (The Pantheras Legion). The new models have inspired me to create a new actual Space Wolf force with a new Wolf Lord. It will lean heavily on Thunderwolves and terminators with a converted counts-as Logan so I can use termies as troops. I am planning on doing the

HORDES wolf conversions for my thunderwolves.

Hi everybody,

i am totally new to the hobby, but i have had an intrest for the warhammer 40k univerce since the first dawn of war game came out, but havent done anything about it. so few weeks ago i was in my local book store and found the first horus heresy book and started reading it and thought what the heck lets give warhammer 40k a trie. i did some research and found a local hobby group, by the way im from estonia, met them and they taught me some basic rules and how to get started and also they let me play a small skirmich wich i won, yey. Now im waiting for my SW codex from England so i could get started. The problem being at the moment we dont have a hobby store that would bring GW stuff into Estonia because there are only about 30 warhammer 40k players in my country.

I chose space wolves because of their nordic heritage and their rugged nature. i hope to get my first figures in the end of the month and then start gluing and painting.

Hi!

I got interested in Space Wolf when I got a box of the old Blood Claws for christmas a year or two ago.

Instead of proper Space Wolfs, I paint themas one of the lost chapters of the cursed founding, the Night Wolfs

They were a normal codex: space marines chapter until about a month ago when I heard about the new codex. And it's my birthday this month, proper space wolves on the way  hooray!!! :D

Greetings everyone,

I played warhammer a long time ago, had to stop due to lack of time, but was reading white dwarf and kept in touch with people who played and played the dawn of war games to quill the thirst  so i am essentially a newcomer.

I read the new codex and as i have seen the thunderwolf cavalry something just clicked - i had to play space wolves again. So now i am making my first list and planning on getting the paints out of the attic and then

Onwards to victory!

"Just 10 more strides. Good. 10 more. Now 10 more. Almost there. Crap, how many strides was that? Start over...."

ConfusedWolf just kept muttering to himself as the fang grew larger in the horizon. To stop now would be to invite death and he knew it. Thus far he completed every test set before him on his path to become a sky warrior. He would be damned if he was to fail now and die a lonely, frozen death.

Finally he saw his salvation. Letting our an ear splitting howl ConfusedWolf charged towards the Fang's gate. As he quickly approached the gates slowly opened up to reveal a host of men cheering and screaming loudly. Not just any men. Once he crossed that threshold they would be his brothers.

As ConfusedWolf entered the fang he felt his body give out, but he did not fall. Instead dozens of hands reached out, grabbed him, and began to carry him away with cheers of victory. He was quickly taken to a large dining hall where he was sat down. Quickly large chunks of meat and huge mugs of ale were put in front of him.

"Eat boy, eat! Your body needs it!"

He didn't need to be told twice. His body ached all over and he could barely move, but he felt a deep hunger inside of him. He needed to consume, and he tore into the feast put in front of him. He couldn't get enough, and his plate and mug were constantly being refilled. He began to think that instead of dieing from hunger, the cold, and exhaustion he might just die from overeating. He felt as if his stomach was going to burst.

The thought didn't last long as ConfusedWolf turned to the left and ejected the contents of his stomach onto the floor.

"Good! You made more room!", a laughing voice called out, "More meat! Eat! Eat!"

After some time the men began to slow down the pace at which they were forcing food and drink on him. One of the men turned to ConfusedWolf and asked, "How did you come to be here boy? While you dine, tell us your story."

ConfusedWolf stood as he said, "My name is J-". Strong hands pulled ConfusedWolf back down into his seat and he was handed a leg of meat. "Talk and eat. You are not done eating until I tell you so." a stern voice warned him.

ConfusedWolf resumed his tell as he took a bite out of meat handed to him, chunks spewing out of his mouth as he continued his tale.....

I getting back into 40K after playing the game for a brief time about 4 years ago. I was going to start up playing Ultramarines. I didn't want to play anyone's poster boy, so I decided on Imperial Fists. When the wolf dex came out I fell in love. Warriors who knew how to enjoy their profession. Men who followed their leaders not because of rank, but because of respect.

I realize that with the nex Dex there will be plenty of new wolf players who will quit the army after a few months. That is ok. Afterall, the first few casulties seperate the men from the boys! I plan on being here a good, long time!

Well to be honest when I first started this hobby(6 months ago) I had no interest in the Sons of Russ my flavor was more towards Blood Angels, but as I have gone through my different races, Tyranids, Necrons and Chaos. I had decided that Chaos Space Marines where going to be my main army, but as I played them they became very.. dull to me not having as much character as I had originally hoped for. So I was searching around for options, and I just so happened upon the new SW's codex, flipped to a random page and fell in love with the fluff! I do not think I like the codex because it's new it's because I genuinely enjoy this fluff! So expect more from me in the SW's forums(and most likely help for my my list :P )
I first learned about 40k 12 years ago when I used to play magic at the local game shop. I always wanted to play but the price was hard to cope with ( I was 16 then ) and now about 7 months ago I purchased a Tyranid box army but after playing a game with them and seeing all the models I had to paint I began to get turned off (I love the painting aspect of the hobby so I want to put a lot of effort into making them look awesome). I liked the fluff of space marines until I started reading about the wolves. I didn't go with the wolves before the nids because the codex was so old and I was just starting off with 5th ed rules so I bought a SM and Nid codex. I was going to do black templars but then I heard the new wolf dex was coming and I figured I would wait. Well its here, I have it and I love it. The new models look awesome, the fluff is awesome, and since I dont have much experience playing yet I cant say how they perform on the tabletop but I dont really care. Im in it for the painting, the models, and the fluff. I hear they are doing good with the new dex out but either way they are way more exciting than regular space marines and I look forward to starting my new army (going to buy a few models and start this weekend). May need some advice on painting tips, strategy, etc. but this forum as always been good for that.

I have been playing 40k since the first tabletop rules came out on and off.

I was a Zoat player at the start (giving you an idea of how long ago it was). Currently I have many armies but the Wolves has always been my favorite since returning to the game about 5 years ago. The codex was good and their down and dirty tactics make them as much fun as Orks to play (but you should actually win!!!).

I consider myself a skilled player winning almost every game I play, I am no rules lawyer as its fun but I have done a few local game club tournaments but sadly the rules for Wolves were not great until the new codex as the SW's always took too many casualties due to the style of play they needed. I have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on more than one occassion with some lucky dice roles and quality tactical moves.

This said I am pleased with the feel of the new codex but I have not managed to play test the force yet. In terms of army size I have a 14,000 point space wolves army about 90% painted well now and have got to use it a few times in Appoco and pre Appoco games. There great fun and now we can actually have a shooty army which is amazing fun. Long Fangs are actually a use and a cheap unit also which I am really pleased with.

In terms of Army I hated fighting most it was Tau as the battle suits I have faced (smart Tau players) have jumped around the terrain shooting at me making it hard for me to get to them. But when I did then.........Win for the Wolves.

For me the easiest army I have come across has actually be Dark Angels but I think thats partially down to the people playing them around here. My crowning moment is taking out Nid forces in Melee which is always pleasing to watch the outrage on their face being smashed by a pack of wolves.

Best unit (till new rules) was the scouts, melta bombs and bring them on taking out the opposing tanks, back armor on Lemon Russ tanks stink and there usually stationary so easy mode.

Thats me in general terms, other forces I have is Guard, Demon Hunters, Witchhunters, Eldar, Imperial Fists, Black Templairs, Small Ork Army, Tau and I think thats about it currently.

Lastly hello to you all.

Hello I'm Michiel,

21 years old and from Holland.

I started a marines army a couple of months ago, when the new space marine codex came out.

I modeled them as salamanders with the capes from the dark elves corsairs.

The models where nice but the rules didn't reflect the feral nature I was looking for.

So when the Space wolves Codex came out I used that one.

I will add my first army list in an other thread.

Hello Brothers,

I was already a son of Fenris before these new minis and codex where release but the new stuff has just made them so much more awesome i also love the new special characters (Maybe on a later date ill show you my new wolf lord) (Well when i finish painting him of course ^_^ )

Hail Brothers!

I've been lurking here a while, and figured it was time i joined you good and proper.

I've played Space Wolves for a little over 10 years now, and they were the first army i ever started collecting. I love the fluff, and with all my armies (Wood Elves, Beastmen and Sisters of Battle) i have played 'themed' armies... that while loosing ALOT were fun to play because they fit my idea of how the army should be.

Right now i am tingling with glee as the new wolves were released 3 days before my birthday i got every new model and box set, which has massively augmented my old (& some what shabby now through years of neglect) army, and has fuelled a want and need to convert some truly awesome models worthy of being called Sons of Russ.

Now breach that keg of ale. It's time for a feast

Well I guess I should at long last post my first time reply here....

My name is Baru and I'm an extremely long time lurker here (first I had another use name, but I forgot what is was :) ). Been playing since 2nd edition, although at first it was mostly fun and games taking nothing too seriously. The last 4 years I've been stepping up my game both hobby and gaming wise. Founded a club with friends and we've mostly been winning Best Painted Army awards/Great gamer since.

In the beginning I've mostly played Dark Angels (first army), Eldar, Tau, Necrons and I've frequently borrowed guard from a friend. Almost always play at 1700 pts aka tournie lvl. Sadly when I finished my necron army I started to suffer from 'easily distracted' syndrome and haven't completed a new army since (must be 2 years or so by now). For the most part now I enjoy painting only the models I really like (mostly random metal characters) to improve my paint skills, but lately I'm becoming sick of constantly playing borrowed/half finished army's so I've decided to pick an army that was inspiring enough to make cool conversions and had a striking paint scheme. At first it was orks, but I found the pretty random nature (bits and bobs everywhere at random places) of the models a nightmare for me to paint on a large scale and after 3 army's fully painted in a green colour scheme I thought it was time for something else than green :P .

The came space wolves around the corner......Loved the old image, but back then I never thought my painting skills would do some models justice. When the 3rd edition codex came out I fell in love with 2 pieces of artwork of wolf scouts. I've always been a wolf scout fan since, purely based on their image and background. Now the new codex is released I can't wait to get my paws on the new bitz (already have 1 wolf pack set and the codex). I'm not really an active poster (quality over quantity), since I almost never post when someone else already has posted my opinion (I find repeating things a waste of time), but I'll probably say something every now and then.

Cheers!

Baru

Hello,

I wanted to start a space wolves army because I love killing stuff in combat and the new models are just Fantastic!

I am also intrested in converting them to all carring Chaos heads because they hate chaos!!

and thats it

Viva space Wolves!!!!!!!

Cheeseychaoslord

:D I've decided to be space wolves beI love all the new units. I also love how they can turn into Wulfen. Their New units ROCK!

Please Dont use that bright colours again, my eyes burnt as I read your post.

And welcome all to the FANG!!!!

not new to wolves but new to the site.

been playing wolves since 3rd ed. came out ( i was 11? i think) my dad had been collecting them for a long time ( he had SM models dating back to the origins of 40k and at that point in time had at least 20-30k pnts worth of SW's sitting on the coffee table for about a year just begging to be painted) and i had always had a fascination with viking mythology, i think those 2 things are what originally drew me to the wolves.

the fluff, the "pack" aspect of their chapter, and also the fact that logan grimnar is pretty much the baddest mother *shut your mouth* in the galaxy.

Well I guess with the release of the new Codex and some of the new toys it was time for me to look into them. I started with space wolves WAAAY back when Andy Johnson looked like one, and haven't played since 2000 at least. I still have my Second edition Codex with a page dedicated to NO YOU CANNOT TAKE A WOLFGUARD TERMINATOR WITH AN ASSAULT CANNON AND CYCLONE LAUNCHER!! Soooo I guess in some ways I am very new, but in other ways I am not.

The one thing that I loved was getting in close with somebody who thought that charging with Tau was fun, yeah it was like clubbing baby seals.
