Hi there, Old Git here (20+ years of gaming). I've just joined the forum and I'm resurrecting my 13th company. I always liked the fluff for wolves but never got around to collecting any. Then GW released the Eye of terror campaign which included 13th company wolves and I was hooked. Grizzled old veterans returning from thousands of years hunting the bad guys - me likee lots. With the new codex there's no 13th company but I think it's possible to make a list that's as near as dammit. The problem will be sticking to the 13th fluff, ie no vehicles or dreads which in todays mech heavy 40k environment may be a problem. Still, no vehicles means more points for melta guns/bombs :)

I'm including some scouts and thunderwolves in my list as even though they weren't in the original 13th company list from the Eye of Terror I think they fit rather well. I'm going to see if the plastic GW chaos hounds are suitable for thunderwolves, representing fenrisian wolves being affected by the warp physically but still noble in character. Scouts do what wolf scouts do, look for the enemy and screw them over. We'll see how it goes after a few games.

Hello my name is nik Im 13 and i play Spacewolves because they have sagas.

Hi, I'm Peter.

Many years ago I was Wolf Lord Fjalar Dragonbane (2nd ed. - So many years ago).

I recently returned to wargaming with a Codex Chapter - The Silver Spears, but the new codex and the new models have won me over. I am returning to the embrace of the mother wolf!

For Morkai! For the Fang! For Russ!

well i guess i should post here.

Anyways, i am Starting a new wolves army based on the Great company of Kjarl Grimblood. I originally went to the wolves this time around as i was going to restructure my Druid Based Celtic marine chapter idea on the wolves, but after a test model i decided it just wasn't working as intended and i decided to just go with a codex chapter for a change and do my wolves up right.

This will be my second time with the wolves, as my last wolf army was back in 3rd edition, i think back in 01. I have always like the wolves and there rules, but when i got out of the hobby in 04 for a little while and came back i just went with vanilla marines for the codex variety and to do my DIY chapter ideas.

Anyways, as i said i am opting to do these wolves right and right now my main focus is to get a force up and ready for tournament plays, and shooting for ard boyz next year as i would love to get a chance to play in it. I have only gotten back into the hobby in 07, and rarely get to play. Mostly its just modeling and painting when i can find time around my large family and work.

So i raise my Stine in glory to the greatest Primarch....For Russ and the Endtimes!!!!!

Hello all.

I've been playing about a year. (Tau) Always under the misconseption that Space Wolves were just marines. I picked up the new codex and have been sucked in by the fluff. So here i am, another fresh off the glacier bloodclaw. Just itching to do Russ proud.

Hello everyone.

I just started playing again after a few years and I am amazed by how much it has changed. I used to play black templars but I really digging the fluff and new models. I also have been reading the space wolf books. I am really looking forward to started a wolf army while I wait for BT update. I am kinda undecided on what kind of force I want to build I am thinking I will base it off either Erik morkai's great company (alot of wolf scouts and other sneakiness) or a 13th company theme with thunderwolves.

Hello.

I am Niiai.

I am curently new after having had a 10 year break. I am playing the SW because they have so mutch cool going for them but I can't manadge to think out a good list, as of yet. So be prepreared for some nagging in the begining. :D

Greetings fellow Wolf brothers! *Hands out ales*

Space Wolves were my third army back in the days of second edition, but they were the army that taught me how to paint well. I followed the painting Space Wolves articles in the 'Eavy Metal section of White Dwarf, and learned how to drybrush, highlight, paint eyes and jewels, and many other things while painting my original Space Wolf force back in my sophomore year of undergrad in '93-94. I amassed a beautifully painted force. However, one of my friends gave me so much crap about using Ragnar Blackmane (he continually called him "Raghead") that I wound up selling my army shortly after graduating. In retrospect I probably should have dreadsocked my friend, who never actually bought and painted his own models (he just leeched off the rest of us who had painted armies), and I have always regretted the decision to sell my army.

When the Space Wolves got new plastics back in third edition I bought them, in order to reconstitute my force, but the death of a parent, and the aftermath of dealing with the loss, pretty much killed my hobbying for several years. Now with the release of a new codex, I am returning to the Wolves, as I've always loved their models and imagery, and I love the new models!

For Russ, the Allfather, and for the Wolftime!

Okay so I should have done this a while ago when I started my SW army but Ive decided to now. Im a bit of a recent convert to the army but my heart belonged to them much earlier. A short story about it being that when I decided to start playing 40k I had looked into the hobby a bit. Alot caught my eye but Space Wolves were one of the first armies to really call to me. For the entirety of my teenage years I had been playing a little roleplaying game called Werewolf the Apocalypse and Im not sure if White Wolf took some ideas from Games Workshop but their are many similarities to Space Wolves and the 40k universe. One of the themes being primal heroes fighting a losing fight against great corrupting evil. As you can tell for a game that was a big part of my life for so long the Space Wolves would have been a prime army for me.

Alas my first trip into a Games Workshop store I was looking around when I was approached by one of the employees. He asked me what army I was interested in starting to collect and my first responce was Space Wolves. He got a look on his face and said they were a "specialty" army and would be hard to collect. Im assuming cause their was no Space Wolf codex in the store and no SW models that they were not a popular army so slightly disapointed I then found the Ork Codex which I also had a great afinity for being a big fan of the Warcraft games. I had played Warcraft 2 and 3 and then moved onto WoW so orcs were something I was greatly into. Plus reading about the 40k orks online I fell in love with their flavor.

So now I was a Ork player and after about a year and a half or so I found my love for the orks hadn't diminished but my love of playing orks had. Something about hours painting a million orks and then quickly getting them all blasted off the table made my love of the hobby sour. So I stopped painting and collecting for 4 or 5 months. Then I look and what should be getting a new Codex and minis? Hooray, Space Wolves! Now im fully back into the hobby and the love of the Space Wolves is growing rapidly, especially since they were my first choice for an army to begin with.

I havent played a game yet since I want my entire army to be table top quality this time. No horde of unpainted orcs this time. So in the mean time Im loving the minis Ive bought so far and I know when I do start to battle with them I'll have an army that Im proud of for a long time.

Thanks for reading my tale.

I had been searching through several codexes to find one that fit my play style after play SM, Orks, Eldar, Chaos Marines and Daemons. Honestly after seeing their new 'Dex I fell in love with Grey Hunters (remind me of CSM but not evil) but it was when I picked up the 2 Space Wolf Omnibuses that I fell even in more love with Ragnar Blackmane. The idea of barely checked aggression reminds me a lot of my teenage years (LOL).

I was unable to post on B&C for over a year and a half due to certain "conflicts" with my previous employer (I will let speculation flow :D ) but now I am back and ready to fight for the Glory of Russ and the Allfather!

It feels good to be back!

hey, new pup player here, always wanted to do astartes, and what better reason to do pups with the release of the new models, which grabbed my attention at first glance, before the astartes i had a eldar force, very small, numbering only in the 30's, SO boring painting them.

i still havnt been able to break down funding for my dex, so i havnt been able to test out anything with a friend.

new pup.

hi i am a new 40k player,

if you dont mind,

i will tell u guys my story

my first introduction to 40k is,

about couple years ago i bought space wolves omnibus, starcraft novel, halo novel, n etc etc,

since i bought so many novel, i dont read the space wolves until recently, about 3 months ago.

then i am so captivated with the story, it has all of the thing i like,

i love viking legend n mythology, and my most fave animal is wolf,

because i am so love viking mythology, i have a game center shop i named "Valhalla" :P

and because i am so in love with wolf, i have many siberian husky

(at one time 2 of my husky giving birth, that time i have 12 husky :) ,

1 stud, 2 bitch, n 9 pup)

after finishing reading space wolves omnibus, i go to warhammer shop,

n intending to buy all of the other warhammer novel, then the shop keeper

introduce me to the assault on the black reach n battle of the skull pass,

and tell me many thing about warhammer universe.

since i am a newbie i choose the 40k AotBR since it's easier to learn said the shop keeper.

then from that day i read read n read many website, n wiki learning everything about 40k.

Greetings all,

Long time gamer here (18 years in the hobby) and long term SW player (8+ years as my main army). I also run a DIY SM Chapter and have a 4000pt Eldar army somewhere collecting dust from many moons ago when I felt the need to paint something different and ended up being sucked in by their Xenos ways a bit too far (for a while;) ).

It was actually a friend of mine who told me of this website. He's a lurker and never bothered to register, but after spending a few days lurking myself and looking at the calibre of the members and forums here I decided I'd sign up. I'm a Brit currently living in Japan (and as such having to endure a much more limited gaming community).

Ale all round 'keep

edit: early in the morning and embracing typo's as long lost friends!

Hello all i am strength of Russ and ive been gaming since i was 5 i am 13 and ive collected imperial gaurd (space puppies) tau and am getting a space wolf army for christmas hope to have a good time on this site unlike tauonline too much trash talk and swearing

Hello,

I'm brand new to the Bolter and Chainsword but I've been interested in warhammer since I was 11. I used to run a Tau army but never really knew how to play all that well so I faced defeat time after time. After that fiasco, I sort of got fed up with the game but just recently my friend and I decided to co-lead a space wolves army because we love their individualism and their awesome hero characters. For my part, I'm obsessed with norse myth (and myth in general) so the Space Wolves superstitious nature is perfect for me. Anyway, I'll quit my rambling.

Hello ALL!

New to warhammer 40k. Became interested when older son,26, gave the Space Wolves books to me and my younger son,10.

JJ, the 10 year old then said we should build an army together. father and son team. So here we are. Feet first and no idea what we are doing.

Any and all suggestions would be helpful and welcomed.

thanks

Welcome to the halls of the wolves (every one of you) :P

People over here are friendly, even some of our Long Fangs are ;)

I would recomend getting the Warhammer 40K rulebook , Codex Space Wolves , a SW battleforce , and something else that intrigues you. :tu:

Welcome to Warhammer 40K
