Yogi
Enter code:/ *****_*** ++Greetings Inquisitor.++ ++Reference: Lost Adeptus Astartes++ ++Thought for the day: It is the greatest sin to be right at the wrong time.++ My Lord I have for 67 years suffered this penance, searching for lost chapters; military assets we so greatly need in these times. During this period none I have searched for has ever bore fruit, only tales of heroism, misfortune and woe. So it came to my great surprise when I actually found a lost chapter. The Oceania Chapter as they are so named has been out of contact with our most holy Imperium for three millennia. Below is my report of this lost chapter and my recommendations. Yours in service ++Inquisitor Horatio++ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v690/kilianjay/Oceania.jpg Tactical Marine Kor of the fifth Cohort 'the Tridents', equipped with aquatic capable flamer. Origins: One small administrative error would change the fate of the Oceania Chapter. This error was in their original orders, which mistakenly deployed them in the South West edge of Segmentum Tempestus. Here the Chapter found 6 systems of Agri worlds, and no enemies. Their Chapter Master Vyloc of the Salamanders for reasons lost, chose the furthest and most backward system Toros, and gave his chapter a home on the water planet Myr. Here the Chapter has remained defending a region of little strategic importance from occasional pirates, who quickly learned to avoid the area. Homeworld: Myr is located in the Toros system, and shares its sun with three other worlds. Myr itself is 91% ocean, with a string of tropical islands that span the equator. The people of Myr are savages with limited technology utilizing only wood and stone. Vyloc is recorded describing them as noble and kind. Over generations of isolation, as people from Myr were inducted into the chapter, they influenced its doctrine. In three millennia the chapter has regressed, and essentially gone native. Combat Doctrine: After an initial brief campaign against the Eldar recorded as Il-Kaithe, the Oceania Chapter has only had experience fighting human pirates in space battles. Although they train for all occasions, they are only experienced in boarding actions. Due to their home world the Chapter is extremely prepared for Aquatic combat. However no living marine has performed anything other than space battles with boarding actions. Oceania Marines are often overzealous to make up for their lack of experience. Organisation: The chapter retains the organization laid down by the Codex Astartes, with ten companies of a hundred marines. The chapter itself calls the companies cohorts and cohorts often reflect the personality of their leaders rather than the codex. The chapter favors land speeders due to their utility on Myr. The chapter possesses no dreadnoughts having lost those gifted to them upon their founding during the Il-Kaithe campaign. The chapter has no insidious touch of the Cult of Mechanicum, techpriests pass down what is known directly on Myr. Geneseed: The Oceania Chapter claim they are the Sons of Vulkan of the Salamanders. I have been unable to confirm this at this time, however geneseed is pure. Currently they do not send their gene seed tithe to Terra. It is doubtful if they ever have. Beliefs: The Oceania Chapter’s beliefs reflect that of their home world and the local populace. They entertain the heretical belief that the ocean is a manifestation of the Emperor, which ties in the legends of Myr that claim the ocean destroyed the corrupt technological civilisation in a great flood (I theorize that since Myr has no polar ice caps that they melted and destroyed the ancient civilization). On Myr the ocean is the most powerful element in existence able to bring destruction upon any who offend it, there are many superstitions the marines themselves believe regarding this. Drowning is also the favored form of punishment, due to the belief that the Ocean/Emperor will take those who have sinned directly and that this is cleaner then working through a representative. Oceania Marines are also superstitious of being without water and wear amulets and trinkets which contain small vials of water from Myr. Fortress Monastery: Known as the ‘Temple’ the fortress monastery of the Oceania Chapter is an entirely artificial construction believed to be from the pre flood human civilization. It is replete with a great many connected underwater domes which house the chapter and provided a variety of training environments. Battle Cry: “Myrmidon!” ++Recommendations++ My Lord I must express the ignorance of this chapter is astounding. They know nothing of the holy branches of the Imperium, including our own order. Their beliefs have morphed into ocean worship, mixed with the imperial cult. I highly recommend they be placed under mentorship of a more civilized commander that can reeducate them of the ways of the Imperium. They also know nothing of other space marines independence from the orders of the Imperium, I have convinced them I am a representative of the Emperor and that they are to serve our order(this took much convincing). I nominate myself for the task of custodianship for the Oceania Chapter so that it may be guided back to the Emperors light. ++Response++ Oceanic Chapter to be placed under Lord Matthais’ custodianship and reeducation. Inquistor Horatio you are to continue with the task assigned to you. Praise be to the Emperor! Dazzo
Why go native, with loads of vulcanism to make them feel at home i would have thought it would be easy to keep in touch with their salamander roots? They could have set up their fortresses along this worlds chain of fire, seperate islands away from the mainland that aspirants must sail to to even be in wiith a chance to become marines. And with all that water there must be some pretty nasty storms so it wouldnt be easy.
