kil78
so this is one of my old diy chapters from back in the day, and they played using the SW rule set, time and a house fire, had me start another army, but with the upcomming release of the new codex, bits have made me start thinking and working on their fluff again. more at bottom Emperor's Warriors Founding: unknown, possibly 21st or 22nd Chapter number: 653 Home world: fleet based, main ship the spacehulk: "Devine Wrath" also know as "Da Hulk" within the chapter Gene seed: Unknown, but all zygotes are accounted for and working properly; however the Omophagea shows a slight tenancy to hyperactivity which may link them to several Blood Angels or Imperial fist successor chapters. ref Flesh Eaters, Blood Drinkers, sou--------(text corrupted source unknown) Religious practices: Unlike most chapters, they do not venerate their primarch. He is, in fact, unknown to them. Instead, they view the emperor as the source of their elevation and worship him as the "The Great Warrior," the ultimate in human achievement in the art of war. As the imperial eagle has two faces, so he has two faces: the quick, decapitating strike and the massive, brutal blow. History: The Emperor’s Warriors were a chapter of an unknown founding as part of an attempt to project the power of the Imperium farther into the galactic fringe. They were outfitted with a battle barge and several escort ships. Along with a convoy of 30,000 colonists drawn from several nearby worlds they began their voyage. Unfortunately, about two thirds of the way though their trip the impossible happed. They hit something. With only the briefest moment to call for all hands to brace for impact, the battle barge and several of the colonists’ crafts struck a space hulk. The massive impact tore the small fleet and the hulk out of the warp. After communication between the ships was reestablished the marines realized that more than half their number and approximately three fourths of the colonists had been killed. Most of the senior officers were dead, but most of the armory was preserved. Most importantly, the gene seed in its adamantium vault was not harmed. All of the navigators and astropaths, however, had been killed in the psychic backlash of the collision. Finding themselves marooned in the space between stars, their battle barge fused with a hulk crawling with orks, the remaining marines and colonists decided to sell their lives for the only prize still available to them: the destruction of the foul xenos. It was at this point that the marines started to feed on the orks, reserving limited food supplies for the colonists and trusting in their superior physiology to permit digestion of the orkoid biomass. But it was not the Emperor’s will for this young chapter's flame to be extinguished yet, so he sent help from a most unlikely source. On the hulk the marines found men who called themselves by the strange name "Diggas." Though they had lost much of the Imperial creed, the men told stories of great iron warriors who once protected them from the orks, and who would one day return to deliver them from enslavement. Realizing that these must be corrupted tales of the Emperor and the primarchs, the marines rejoiced at finding these lost sons of humanity, and the Diggas wholeheartedly threw their lot in with the marines. The Diggas had knowledge that proved useful. They knew of ways to render the orkoid biomass into a form edible to humans, and more importantly, they had a rudimentary knowledge of the massive engines that powered the hulk. This meant that it might be possible to return to imperial space. The alliance with the Diggas allowed the marines to change their objective from the destruction of the hulk to its capture. The earliest parts of the chapter record deal with the cleansing of the hulk. It is unknown how long it took or when they started to induct colonists and Diggas, but when the process was completed the orks had been destroyed and The Emperor's Warriors had been changed as a chapter. In fact, their fluid company structure and practice of recruiting from war zones have roots in this period. After the capture of the hulk it took fifty years for them to gain full control of its systems, and even then they were limited to short, random warp jumps. Finding Mykenae The first of these brought them to Mykenae, a human planet under attack of the forces of chaos. Though the inhabitants had not had contact with the Imperium during their recorded history, it was decided that it was the will of the Emperor that had brought his warriors to this place. They decided to risk their weakened chapter to defend the humans. The people of Mykenae were incredibly grateful to their defenders and were brought back into the Imperial fold. Though they provided much in the way of recruits and materials, they had no astropaths or navigators and so were unable to report the wayward chapter’s status to the Imperium. This set the pattern for chapter’s course of action over several mellinia. On the 1386th warp jump they reached an Imperial planet. It was year the 996th year of the 41st millennium. Inquisitorial review Though the reunion with the Imperium was a cause for much celebration within the chapter, it was also a cause for great fear and uncertainty for the planetary governor. However, by the divine will of the Emperor, Inquisitor Vicus Holk was on planet, and quickly took control of the situation. Imperial records, while fragmentary, bore out the story of the Warriors. A preliminary review found that though they had strayed from the codex, their faith and veneration of the Emperor was strong, if unorthodox. It was decided full tribunal would be held to determine the fate of the chapter. Before it could be held, fate intervened once more. 13th black crusade When Abbadon's hordes came screaming out of the Eye, the Imperium responded with a level of mobilization not seen since the Heresy. The Emperor’s Warriors decided not to wait in system for the arrival of Inquisitorial Tribunal, and made for Cadia with Inquisitor Holk in tow, taking advantage of their access to a navigator through Holk. Though still not fully trusted, the marines took park in several campaigns under other chapters, acquitting themselves quite well, but only in three incidents were they the primary combatants. Battle tactics and organization: There are several deviations from the codex among The Emperor’s Warriors. Base units are squads, each giving loyalty to a leader and forming a de facto company. The loss of so much of their command structure and the nature of fighting in a hulk with ad hock groups being formed nigh on continuously engrained the loose organizational structure in the chapter. Equipment and tactical considerations lead to a tendency for the chapter’s companies to form in a way very similar to codex companies. All command staff (librarian, chaplains, tech marines, and apothecaries), however, are thought of as belonging to their "own" company. They do, on occasion, form recon companies based on bikers and other fast vehicles. All terminator armor is thought of as property of the current Chaptermaster’s company. Since they have been out of contact with the Imperium for a long time they have become masters of jury rigging and “appropriating" other vehicles and gear. Including "gleaning" arms and armor from the fallen of other space marine chapters, this is done not with malice or avarice, but rather a "well, they aren't using it" mentality. Recruitment: The Emperor’s Warriors draw youths from the combat zones that they fight in, trusting that only the fires of war will purge the weak from the strong. Current chapter master: The chapter master for the last 40 years is Warboss Antonug. One of the first aspirants picked up since they started recruiting from war zones, he is the 11th chapter master of The Emperor's Warriors. He is armed with two massive powerfists, and a built in storm bolter. Though a powerful warrior in his own right, his true strengths are his ability to inspire his men and his tactical acumen. During the Inquisitorial review of the chapter in the aftermath of the 13th black crusade eight of the eleven space marine chapters that fought alongside them sent emissaries to testify on behalf of Antonug and his chapter. Their testimony tipped the balance of the review board, from an outright declaration of heresy to a declaration of a hundred year probationary period. Heraldry: A new marine is given a plain green set of power armor, and each marine adds Icons appropriate to his accomplishments, starting first with the chapter badge. A note on titles and language: Though The Emperors Warriors speak an argot that is an amalgamation of gothic and Orkish and several of their titles are based on that language, they do use the high gothic and more traditional titles when communicating with other imperial organizations. part of what I was thinking of adding was som interaction with the SW, personally i think they would get along fairly well, but I wanted some SW players oppinions on that, the other bit was a bit of a fight between the UM and the wolves over the chapter with the ultras wanting to reshape them into a more codex chapter and the wolves resisting that because , 1. the view it as an indirect attack in their own structure, and 2 they feel a chapter should run it self as it damn well pleases. any ways thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/ Share on other sites

AdeptusDavidus
I love it, if only because I secretly envy Ork players. They get to do all kinds of gonzo, absurd conversions, and it's totally appropriate. Be sure to paint your Rhinos red. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/#findComment-2113033 Share on other sites

El Scotcho
I'm torn. While its a great idea, to a fluff person like me, it's so blasphemous it's not even funny. I have to say brother that that definitely deserves an ale. LPetersson
I am also deeply deeply torn. On one hand I love the concept, but at the same time, I'm in it for the fluff and there's something that grates a little. But hey ho, I have ale in front of me, so I don't care. Make sure all vehicles are red ;-) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/#findComment-2113187 Share on other sites
kil78
a little bit more the aftermath of the 13th black crusade At the end of the 13th black crusade, the Inquisitorial tribunal, delayed by circumstance, took place. It was a lengthy affair, that utilized both psychic testing and testimonials from the space marines that the Warrior's served under during the actions. ( due to the uncertainness of the chapter, they had not been allowed to take the feild under their own command, but were seconded peicemeal to other chapters, ranging from squad level to full companies). the end result was to find the warriors clear of heresy, but definitely beyond the strictures of the codex. at the beginning of the Black crusade the Warriors had 9 companies, with aproxamatly 3200 marines between them, after they had been reduced to aproxamatly 1200 marines, with the total destruction of Gor Ironfist's 3rd company which was destroyed in a rear guard action which allowed a counter attack which saved at least 12 cadian regiments. A decision was reached by the conclave to put the Warriors on a 100 year probationary period, with advisers from the Ultramarines chapter, to bring them into compliance with the codex. The emissary from the space wolves viewed this as an attack on non-codex chapters and also demanded to send their own group of advisors. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- the reason the wolves would demand to send their own advisers has to do with the destruction of the 3rd company, in a nut shell (I need a grand company for the 3rd to take the place off.) the battle would have been on cadia, during the 13th black crusade. basic story the Space wolves's company would be holding a line for several days when a large chaos push occurs the Space wolves, having done most of the fighting would have been pretty mauled, and the 3rd company of The EW would have been largely untouched as they were still viewed as a somewhat uncertain quantity by the wolves, and kept from the fighting. the Wolf lord, orders the EWs back, and prepares to sell his mens lives for the time needed for the counter-push by the Imperium. At what point the captain of the EW company socks the Wolf lord, and knocks him out. As he is now the ranking officer on the feild he orders the other company back. EW hold the line until the counter push is launched but at cost of almost the complete distruction of the EW company. --------------------------------------- how would the wolves react to that? would they view it as a comrade jumping on a grenade for them, or some one stealing their glorious death? would they be greatful, pissed off or a bit of both? ps after this I am going to take this back to liber astartes, but I wanted some space wolves oppinion's before I used them in my chapters back story, thanks for the input Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/#findComment-2113269 Share on other sites
Askari
I find the orky marines concept pretty novel but the size is a it on the crazy side. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/#findComment-2113273 Share on other sites
El Scotcho
I think maybe a bit of both. But you would have earned my grudging respect, and become a valued battle brother in the mix. I have thought about it since my earlier post, and I think this is a great concept, if you do it correctly. AdeptusDavidus
At least you didn't call them DA EMPRAH'Z WAAAGH. :) Okay, I'll stop, I'm having too much fun with this idea. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/178652-not-space-wolves-but/#findComment-2113290 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
I think theyd consider that sacrifice paying the ultimate price for your oath to the emperor- a true sign of faith and loyalty. However, the wolf lord in charge would have been already leaning towards trusting them if he was to give them such a task, because it would be shear stupidity to put an unproven ally of tenebrous faith in such a critical position. Thus, the Emperors Warriors must have already proven themselves in the eyes of the Wolves. That they would then stand their ground against the Luna Wolves to the last man would speak incredibly highly of them. Now, as for challenging the Ultramarines and sending a second group- more likely they would simply ask to be put in place of the ultramarine group. 1) The Ultramarines are on the opposite end of the galaxy, indeed less than half their companies could be spared from fighting the Tau to face the 13nth black crusade. 2) No need for multiple Advisors. A veteran chapter like the SWs is quite sufficient oversight. 3) SWs normally operate in the area around the Eye. 4) SWs have a deep hatred for Chaos and alot of experiance fighting Orks- thus if the chapter went rogue they would be well equiped to deal with them. 5) Logain Grimnar was the head of much of the imperial force around cadia and the eye at this time, and so would have been in a position to say "hey, my boys will handle this".
