Fast Attack

After letting the inital wow factor of our new dex die down, I keep thinking back to our new and vicious fast attack choices. Right next to our GH coming into their own, Kelly got it right with our Fast Attack choices. I think we more than doubled our choices in this area and the point savings that come along with it is a Emperor's blessing.

 

My current thought is to have sky claws use FW as cover in a starting position, in front of them standing proud would be a single TW. Even just one of these beasts with SS/FB, backed up by the SK and FW would be line breaker and a sight to behold.

 

I plan to playtest with and without Canis attached to the TW.

 

8 SC MG/PF

8 FW CW upgrade

1 TW

 

I should get all that for less than 300, nice use of points.

 

What I don't like is the loss of my precious AB w/MM. I was tempted to used 2 LS with MM and 1 HB, but the cost is even worse than the TW. So I think I will be leaving my anti-tank up to some new LF and a LR. My above list will be used to take and hold a flank or provide support to my 1 DP.

 

Any other wolf brothers have combos they would like to share wold be most welcome.

I'll be using 2 packs of Fenrisians, so cheap and nasty especially when coupled with sage of the wolfkin. Using them mostly as cover for the more expensive troops, bullying weak units and speed bumps for nastier units (eg. letting them take the charge from 10 zerkers piling out of a raider, and shooting/charging next turn with my hunters.

 

Larger point games I'll probably end up taking a unit of Thunderwolves + my Warrior-born Wolf Lord (this is kindof a tossup though as whether to choose TWs or TDAs, love stats but hate models of 1, love model and ok stats on other)

I agree on trying them out. I have never played the 13th and using wolves is not really my style, but fielding a large and cheap unit to outflank, or just to divert the enemy's attention and firepower is a great time buyer. You don't even need to use them as a screen in smaller games, because they are going to catch your oppenent's attention ...and fire power. This can easily give you a turn of respite from shooter armies, and buy you the time you need to capture an objective. They are the perfect sacrificial lamb and it's an option given to us that should not be overlooked lightly.

The loss of the AB squad was a blow to me too. I'm not very happy with the current arrangement in the new dex, but I can't complain either. Nonetheless, the AB will still be a useful support for my 6 bikers + WG biker. W.r.t the LS I agree with you completely. With the cheaper prices of the LF pack I will only use my LS for specific missions where I think their speed is indispensible.
