The Black Wolves of Kjolseth

The space wolves of this army are brothers of the "lost" company of Tyr Kjolseth "the black wolf"

the black wolves company went "missing" in M34.984.227 when their strike cruiser "the hunters moon"

failed to make the translation from warp space to the jump point near fenris.

Or that is the official story from the fang, a secret kept from the prying eyes of the inquisition lies at the heart of

the saga of "the hunters moon" The sons of russ are still looking for their father, and that is the job of the black wolves

over the past 7 millenia thehunters moon has been spotted around the eye of terror showing up when a world needs

them the most, however the hunters moon only reveals herself to a world where the primarch may be or to a planet who's

people are pure of heart and willing to sacrifice everything to defend their home.

the great company has just recently emerged from warp space near the closing of the 41st millenium.

near the cadian system.

Kjolseth is a wolf lord strong in arm, long in tooth and cunning as a fenrisian black wolf

he was 400 standard terran years of age when his vessel was considered lost in the warp. He strides into battle in a suit of sacred

terminator armor weilding a storm bolter and the frostblade "frostbane" runic charms and talismans adorn his armor across his

back is a cloak that is the pelt of a fenrisian black wolf [adeptus biologis records indicate that the fenrisian black wolf is

the smaller but more aggressive cousin of the fenrisian blackmane wolf, and is said to have been extinct for the past 5 millenia]

His presence amongst the battle lines causes his wolves to strive for excellence beyond that of a normal astartes.

his astounding level of personal courage and charisma are rumoured to be the reason he was selected to lead the black wolves

on the unending quest to find the primarch.(counts as grimnar)

The second in Command of the black wolves is Lars "Frost Gaze " rune priest of the company, it is said that prior to the wolves

entering real space that "frost fang" see's it before it comes to pass. In battle farsight has brought the storms of fenris herself

to worlds throughout the galaxy, turning deserts into lands of snow and ice . wherever he treads the ground around him freezes.

he too strides into battle in an ancient suit of terminator armor wielding a rune staff made of fenrisian iron

wood.(counts as Njal)

brothers of the Black wolves have become hardened warriors fighting throughout time and space in defence of the

imperium. From this it is rumoured that approx. 10% of the black wolves have succumed and been marked by the wulfen.

There is also a higher proportion of grey hunters and wolf guard amongst the company. Blood claws in the black wolves

earn their place in battle by first being skyclaws, the white wolf uses this as a test for the new pups, where only the

strongest will survive. the long Fangs of the black wolves are among the oldest non dreadnought astartes serving the

the imperium today.

The armor of the Black wolves is of varying marks. The color of armor is black not that of the standard space wolf.

the companies marking is a black wolf head with a light blue backround. The reason for this is to set themselves apart

from their fellow sons of russ for the black wolves are relics of an age past and are a distinctive formation within

the space wolves chapter as a whole. The Black wolves still will pay fealty to whomever the current great wolf is,

for eventhough the black wolves may stand apart from their brethren they are still sons of russ.An ancient pact was

made after the primarch russ dissappeared and each great wolf will give enough astartes to the black wolves

to restrengthen the great company if needed and renders repairs to the ancient strike cruiser.

That time has come again as the black wolves once again emerge in a new time and the pack needs new pups.

The Hunters Moon

the strike cruiser "hunters moon" is an astartes pattern strike cruiser That had been fitted with a heavily modified warp drive

concocted using Archeotech and all the skill and know how of the chapters iron priests. What makes the "hunters moon" so

special is what her engine does. it is for lack of a better term a time machine however the arcane physics of this engine

will only allow jumps forward . The reason the Lords of Fenris ordered such a thing made was to find the great russ

wherever or whenever he may be and serve him in the wolf time as his personal body guards. The space wolves being as they

have always been at odds with the inquisition have listed this craft as "lost in the warp with all crew"

so as to not draw attention to such an incredible craft.

Combat doctrine

The black wolves strike deep into the heart of the enemy in essentially a pincer attack.

Tyr and Lars will lead the wolfguard of the company and be first on site via thunderhawk insertion accompanied

by the long fangs. once a beach head has been established and the hunters moon is in place the companies

grey hunters, skyclaws and dreadnoughts rain down on tails of fire in drop pods or on wings of righteous fury provided by

jump packs into the heart of the enemy as the wolf guard advance to close the pincer and ending the battle. this tactic is

called the jaws of morkai.

The main objective of the black wolves is to find the primarch Russ. it is believed that he is still wandering

in and around the eye of terror so that is where the wolves will be found.

[as the strike cruiser cleared warp space the I (Tyr Kjolseth) could have swore I heard Lars Frost Gaze whisper under his

breath "soon my primarch we will find you..." as the ship cleared the event horizon of the translation I felt it too...

the Primarch was almost amongst his sons again..] M41.999.227 taken from the ships log astartes strike cruiser hunters moon.

What do you guys all think? this is my first attempt at any sort of background and thought that since i used to play 13th Co that this would be more fun, the mystique of lost companies of space wolves is so intriguing to me :cuss

this army is designed to strike deep into the heart of my enemies. as part of my them the black wolves use no heavy armor because the need for spare parts and vehicles is a logistical nightmare that would be impossible for a lone vessel to handle for extended periods of time. (im in the army and believe me maintenance is a headache even in perfect conditions)

another reason for the lack of heavy armor is because armor is this army is designed to strike deep and rapidly from the sky into the heart of an opposing army.

when i get home in a year this army will be bringing much paint on the table top =)
