My friend and i are currently thinking about entering a doubles tournament, with the same rules as the official one at Warhammer World. My friend is going to take an Imperial Guard army, centered (obviously) around a large infantry platoon. I was wondering if any of you have any ideas for an army list that would complement this? Obviously it needs to be competitive and be able to contest any mission well. I was thinking maybe an army that plays like the White Scars, with a captain on bike, and some bike squads. Either that or wait and see what the Space Wolves update brings. Do any of you have any better ideas? Got a chaplain with Jump Pack 10 man tac squad with free flamer and missile launcher 10 man assault squad with power fist Either that or chaplain with jump pack 2 x 5-man scout squad all with snipers 10 man assault squad with power fist. i'm not sure though as the tac squad is more flexible. minigun762 Posted September 20, 2009 Share Posted September 20, 2009 I'd focus half of the army on providing counter assault forces. You already have enough firepower with the IG (I'm assuming he's going to stack Heavies and Specials right?). Assault squad is good. I'd probably add in atleast 1 Flamer as you have the speed to really use it. As for the rest of your points, have you considered a BP/CCW/Shotgun Scouts Squad? They're not bad for assaulting things and since you can infiltrate them, you can hopefully run them towards some shooty element of the opponent. 5 BP/CCWs, 5 Shotgun and a Power Fist Sarge will leave you 5 points (assuming you bought 1 Flamer for the Assault Marines).
