nightl0rdx
Ok so starting Night Lords and was wondering what you guys think are necessary units for NL. (kinda like an IW one I saw in here) just wondering what you guys would think they are. I do want to field armor, but they will be painted IW since I don't see NL fielding alot of em. (or am I wrong?!) ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/179050-night-lords/ Share on other sites
chillin
Necessary model for NL's : unmarked lord w/ wings/junppack & twin LC's. That's a must have IMO. Even when I see a BL or other chaos lord armed that way I think NL's. But him in a transport or get him raptors retinue. Other then that do what you want. There is absolutely nothing saying that NL's wouldn't have armor. NL's having their own armor is much more fluffy and makes much more sense then IW's loaning them their armor to "help them out", like it was a guy letting his neighbor use his lawn mower. Also I think an army painted in more then one paint scheme looks ununified, and just doesn't look good on the table top, like you borrowed 1/2 of someone else's army. Night Lord Dred
Copied and Pasted from other topic: ------------------------ Let's see: HQ - Daemon Prince is easily the best option. I use a lord with dual claws and jump pack purely for fun, but he's not worth the points when you can get a prince for the same points. Elites - Terminators are good (termicide, where you have 3x combi-meltas for minimal points is a popular choice for them). Dreadnoughts can be good despite their crazed rule if you can have 2 of them running together. Possessed are not fluffy and suck, chosen are decent at best, though fits the fluff. Troops- Chaos Marines are your only option. Most versatile troop choice in the game. Standard unit is x10 CSM, 2x melta, icon of chaos glory, rhino, champ and fist. Fast - Raptors. Basically CSM with jump packs for 5 points more. Not the best choice, but may fit your army well (I use them and they work great for me), obviously fits the Night Lords fluff. Advantage is they can have 2 meltas at any number of models in the squad. Heavy - Oblits I would not use if you want fluff (theyre more Iron Warriors). Same thing with vindicators. Defilers are Daemons. Havocs, Predator, and Landraiders are your HS options. Combinations of Preds and Havocs can be just as effective as oblits for a cheaper price, though it really requires units to work together. Dont take any marks if you truly want to be a Night Lords army (other than glory). Due to the lack of the "elite" troop choices, marks, and other options, I feel that Night Lords should be played with a lot of basic units moving as fast as they can up the board to make up for their "average" CC abilities (relative to the other CSM troops). Basically you can have 1.5 CSM for every Plague Marine. Rhinos everywhere also. ---------------- Paint your rhinos in NL colours. The NLs are an entire legion on their own, they have their own tanks. Unguis Raptus
Night Lords can use armour, as with all Legions, their preffered methods can sometimes simply not apply. As such a more standard approach is required. This annoys me people seem to not undertsand, they are proffesional soldiers, the very best, they can use every asset available to them, bikes, raptors and armour. They have methods that they prefer but if circumstances dictate they will deviate from this, not happily, but they will. incinerator950
Alot of people prefer that Nightlords mostly stick to infantry based infiltration and jump pack assault units. I myself am thinking of making my Plague Marine army into a Night Lords Nurgle Company, simply because I want to throw chosen in, and I feel ashamed for leaving this Night Lord Hero sitting around. nightl0rdx
Thanks guys for the replies! Sorry about assuming they didn't use armour that much just didn't want to get hammered later if they didn't and I had em out the ying-yang!
