Agni Bloodhammer’s Great Company

Agni Bloodhammer has always shown a taste for combat. Even in his years as a barbarian wolf brother upon Fenris, unaware of the countless enemies in the galaxy he showed promise. He was expected to lead his fellow youths into battle and revelled in the slaughter of his foes with his war hammer. He was chosen by a Rune Priest after he fell at the hands of half a dozen opponents during a raid on a rival tribe’s village. He managed to slay one of his killers as he lay dying. He commenced his training as an aspirant at Russvik and progressed quickly, showing obvious leader qualities amongst the rest of his Claw. He was swiftly deemed worthy of becoming a true Blood Claw and headed for the Fang, excitement burning in his heart.

Once at the Fang he was taken for testing by the Rune Priests and an interesting fact came to light. Bloodhammer appeared to have innate psychic ability, for often objects would simply bounce off of his skin. However after months of repeated testing he showed no sign of being able to channel his psychic powers in other ways. He proved himself time and time again in combat and was permitted a power weapon whilst serving as a Blood Claw as he would use it effectively to destroy the foe.

Bloodhammer’s time as a Blood Claw was relatively short, as he was in one of the most skilled packs the Fang had seen in years. In the few short years he served as a Claw he managed to slay half a dozen members of various chapters Veteran companies, two of which even wore hallowed Terminator armour. His skill having been proven time and time again he and his pack were raised to the rank of Grey Hunters where he continued to excel himself in Russ’ eye and in service to the Emperor.

Several decades later he was raised to the honoured position of Wolf Guard and he chose a Thunder Hammer as his weapon of preference, remembering his life as a man of Fenris and how many opponents fell to it. However, he was not simply a pack leader, he was in fact a member of his Wolf Lord’s bodyguard and dedicated his life to keeping him from being on the receiving end of melta fire and other considerable firepower. In fact Bloodhammer once covered the Wolf Lord's tactical withdrawal from a Genestealer infected Space Hulk, slowly falling back whilst smiting the foul xenos.

Alas, Bloodhammer was not able to save his Lord from a cunning assault by the forces of the Thousand Sons, for a Sorcerer used his foul powers to separate the Guard from their Lord. Whilst they rerouted to catch up with their leader he was engaged in a mortal combat with an incredibly powerful Sorcerer. Nils Icegaze was no match for the sinister agent of Chaos and fell to his ensorcelled blade. By the time the Wolf Guard were able to reach their beloved Lord he was breathing his final few breaths, the Sorcerer was nowhere to be seen. With his dying breath Icegaze claimed Bloodhammer as his successor, a post which was well received by his comrades. He thrust his Frost Blade into Wulfheart’s hands and passed into the Halls of Russ. Once the battle was done the announcement was made and the Wolves set off home to the Fang for the customary mourning of their Lord’s passing and the feasting for the rising of a new Lord.

Bloodhammer made radical changes shortly after becoming Wolf Lord. He ordered the removal of all Company and Chapter insignia for anyone could tell the noble Wolves of Bloodhammer’s Company. He also disposed of the traditional pack markings, simply declaring each pack have their shoulder pads painted different colours. Bloodhammer made an effort to know the name of each of his warriors personally, a task made easier by his keen sense of smell.

Bloodhammer’s favoured combat doctrine is that of the armoured assault. He makes regular use of the Chapter’s Land Raiders, often using six when deployed at Company level, most reserved for packs of Grey Hunters. Blood Claws are often deployed with either bikes or jump packs to keep pace with the armoured behemoths. He often uses other armour in pairs to increase their effectiveness and provide overwhelming firepower. The majority of Bloodhammer’s Wolf Guard have adopted the Thunder Hammer or Frost Blades as their weapon to represent their company. For these are the weapons wielded by the Wolf Lord Agni Bloodhammer.

Very nice Brother. That definitely deserves a round of drinks. Also, I now have to write a background for my Wolf Lord, not to mention come up with a name for him.

Good good! Well I thought as my priorities are fluff first that I should actually create my Lord's fluff. And I rather enjoyed it, particularly him being a bit of a rebel by doing away with pack markings.

And a lack of rhinos, not a fan of them, rather have a Land Raider or at least a Razorback.

Sounds good, it's just that "Fenrir Wulfheart" sounds a little too much "wolfy wolfwolf" style (no offense)... perhaps a little more surprising name would sound slightly better?

I'll think on it. I'll start drawing names up now.

Edit: Changed it, Agni meant fear in old German and the Norse adapted a name from it, or so I'm told.
