Eye Of Terror and how to use with the codices

I was going through all my codices tonight and I stumbled across my eye of terror that a bought 2 years ago. I started thinking about making a side project. How would you use this book with the new ig and csm codices. It would make and intresting new army to play at the local shop.

Would the renagade Army get to have units of 1 to 3 leman russes in a unit for one heavy choice and with all the new options. Would it even be worth my time to even start trying to do a renegade army with this codex? :HQ: Any explaintion or tips would be great!

Renegade Guard ?

If you don't mind not being official for tourneys there's no harm there .

If you want to be official , on the other hand , you will have to resort to the usual " survival " of the fluff lately : counts as .

Which means : use the *new* I.G. codex as is - no extra rules - , limit your options until you can be practically annoyed ( but satisfied on the fluff side of things ) after understanding that you play with half a ( bland and almost irrelevant with the army theme ) codex , and finally compromise by showing on your models what the current rules cannot possibly explain .

If you were talking about some other kind of Renegade Army I didn't get what you were talking about .

I guess GW screwed over its customer again. "oh sorry guys, but tanks for buyng all the models to make this army." well I just have to ponder about this idea for awhile. The people at the local shop that i play at arent very rule strict so i guess i got a plus.

I'd love to see a dedicated Renegade Guard list, not the militia like in Imperial Armour Vol 5-7, or a 'Cultist/Mutie Horde with a few guardsmen' list like the L&tD; rather, a proper, trained and uniquely equipped force of soldiers like the Blood Pact.

This is not the place to discuss such forces, but I don't think that the L&tD list in the EoT 'dex is up to that, really.

You're right, it does seem a bit stupid for GW to invalidate a Codex/Army List a couple of years after people bought it and their armies; I think their reasoning (at least from the tourneys perspective) was that the lists like the L&tD one were meant for a specific campaign and narrative setting, rather than balanced competitive play.

Having said that, if I'd have taken the time to put together a fully painted L&tD army from that list I'd have been gutted; I think the L&tD Apoc Datasheet they put together is a bit of an insult to it as it cuts out so much from the original list. I mean, why only mutants? Where are the Cultists?

As it's all we've got at the mo however, when I add Mutants & Cultists to my Legion of Taurus army I'll be using these rules, and just counting the Cultists as Mutants.

Like Atheist said it, the best way to have L&tD at the moment would be to collect both a legal Chaos Space Marine and IG army and use them combined in Apoc games or special games/scenarios with friends.

It's what I will do. I know that the people I play with won't object to me using a couple of veteran guard squads and guard tanks alongside my Chaos Marines

Your only real option (outside of houseruling or using C:IG) would be to field them alongside C:CSM in Apocalypse.
