do wolf guard bodyguard count as retinue? can my wolf lord be picked out amongst them?

what about fenrisian wolves? do they form a retinue with the character?

the wolf guard squad is not explicitly called a wolf guard bodyguard squad but in the box under their section it states "...wolf guard not only act as bodyguard for the lords of fenris..."

what's the deal here? fenrisian wolves are an upgrade to him so would form a retinue but what about wolf guard?

Wolf Guard no longer form a retinue for the Wolf Lord or any other IC as the BRB states that a retinue is a unit which the character cannont leave e.g. Arjac Rockfist. I have already had this debate at my local GW as I'm not happy about losing the retinue rule. :) .

I'm not sure about Fenrisian wolves.

Losing it should have been expected. Every dex, started losing it. However, I think we were thrown a nice bone in Arjac.

I apologise if that came off as complaining. I am very happy with the bits and pieces that Phil Kelly has given us and I realised that with the current trend, apart from the IG codex, that we might lose it. I just expected us to keep it because it is heavily referred to in our fluff.

Ah well, can't win em' all <_< .

So can you still run a wolf lord with a unit of wolfguard then ???

The Wolf Lord (Independent Character) can attach to a Wolf Guard Pack (unit), just like he can attach to any other unit. They no longer count as a Retinue, so the Independent Character can leave them if he wishes, and can be picked out in close combat (e.g. he is no longer "hidden".)
