Sisters of silence

So questions for everyone to discuss, i saw the HH/pre heresy artwork book and the art of pre-heresy and present 40k sutff and i saw sisters of silence. There crazy sisters of battle at first i thought, but then i was told that there not and this is what sets them apart.

The astartes equivalent of the custodes in the view of the sisters - if they know they exist.

They are all psykic nulls and doesn't register within the warp and wit other psykers alike

They never utter a word and use hand signals to communicate.

They always have a lower face mask?

They do i think carry roughly the same weapons as the sisters of battle though.

No one knows who formed them, maybe the emperor, what they were fored from and where. Plus who leads them.

Another thing i saw was that the leader of the custodes and leader of the sisters of silence were painted right beside the emperor during the great crusade at the golden throne.

Anyone want to contribute and what are you views on the sisters of silence?

thanks

Avast, there be spoilers ahead, matey. Y'arr.

In Flight of the Eisenstein:

The Sisters of Silence join the Death Guard in assaulting a xenos ship in order to kill a psyker. They are armed, generally, with flamers and bolters and as you said are completely silent, save for communicating with sign language. It also transpires that they know the Astartes combat signs, which are seemingly different from the signed communication they use with each other. The officers - who's rank I can't remember - have to personally kill 100 witches before they can take their position, though this may only be a bloody rumour. Initiates are allowed to communicate with speech, as one acts as a translator for the Sister that interacts with the Death Guard. They appear to be the forerunners of the Ordo Hereticus, with their witch-hunting task - the association with certain characters who are rumoured to form the Inquisition also points to this.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head at the moment.
